Straight up mahogany/sitka dread. Finish is gloss poly, and a couple areas of separation at the tuners, but common for these Tacomas. 14 frets to the body, and all solid wood. Good quality throughout, except for the finish issues. Replaced the stock Gotoh tuners with black Delta 510s, and it looks great.

Sound : 10
Beautiful tone and easy to play. My favorite acoustic.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Like I said, the only problem is some minor finish defects with the headstock. Bad topcoat and application, I think. Otherwise, a very well built instrument.

Reliability/Durability : 8
Solid and gonna last awhile. I'd say it's as good as any other high end production acoustic. Price was right.

Customer Support : 8
Lifetime FMIC warranty. We'll see...

Overall Rating : 9
Been playing for many years, and Tacomas are a great value. Materials used are top shelf, and design is superb. They play and sound like guitars costing twice the money, at least. The finish issues have been dogging Tacoma for years now, and FMIC has effectively put 'em out to pasture now. It's a shame. The roundholers were a gem in the acoustic guitar world. Get one if you have a chance. You'll see...

The 28 series Tacomas have just enough eye candy to make them classy yet not gaudy. The bindings, ebony & abalone Gingko fretmarkers are really a nice touch.

-Ebony fretboard, bridge, pins and headstock overlay

-B-Band UST
-Deluxe arch top case

The sound is what you expect from a high end, well built Dreadnought. It has great lows, but gives nothing up in the mid and high registers. It responds well to both fingertips and hard picking! The sound is extremely full.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The setup was almost spot on. When I changed the strings, I took a hair off the saddle because the UST brought it up just a tad.
The woods are amazing. The top is well bookmatched with some great silking. The back and sides are figured Mahogany and under the gloss finish look 3D. I could not find any flaws inside or out. No glue, dings, rubs of any kind.

Reliability/Durability : 10
The guitar is built to last.Tacoma uses a great bracing system. No need for light scalloped braces that will result in bellying down the road. Everything feels very solid and I have no reason to believe it won't last as long as me!

Customer Support : 10
Fender offers the same lifetime warranty as Tacoma always has so I am not worried about a thing. I've had 8 Tacomas and never needed service.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 30+ years and once I found Tacoma guitars I have been hooked. Great value, great product. As I mentioned this is my 8th Tacoma and I imagine there will be more. I actually got this guitar for so little brand new that I am still in awe.
