This is a update for my previous review.I had to send the guitar back to Tacoma, keeping the guitar in a 55% relativity room,it still developed two cracks in the top that couldnt be repaired,so they replaced it with a Roadking model(my choice)and threw in a hard shell case, you cant beat that service, lets see Martin,Collings,Taylor,Breedlove,or any other top of the line do this for their customers,my money is on Tacoma!!!!

This is a 2002 model... all the standard features I'm sure... It came, of course, without any electronics. I asked Matt Baker of Action Music (Arlington, VA, greatest little music store!) for his opinion on the best pickup to put in, and he recommended the Fishman
Acoustic Matrix... great so far... just the plain endpin jack without anything cut out of the wood in the side of the guitar... great for what I need it for...

Sound : 10
This is where this thing shines! I have been to the (bloodsucking) GC and played most of their high-end guitars... I have been as happy with this as anything else that I've played. I'm sure that there is something out there in the $2K+ range that is better, but I would bet that this guitar holds it own against any guitar under $2K. You should be able to find this guitar in the the $600-700 range. Tone: rich, warm, extremely resonant, and well balanced. The one thing I have to emphasize is that this guitar has a BOOMING BASS that really rings out... This guitar is extremely resonant in general, but I doubt anything within 2-3 time its price has this kind of bass tone... This guitar is not the darkest guitar I've ever heard, but it certainly seems to avoid being too bright at the same time...

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
No problems. There are probably guitars with lower action, etc., but this seems to be very easy to play for an acoustic (I play a lot of electric guitar, and like guitars with low action and a short scale). This is probably in the medium range in terms of neck thickness. I have a friend who plays a Guild which has a thicker (boat-shaped?) neck. But I like this neck, as it is neither too thick nor too thin like perhaps a Taylor. Don't get me wrong, Taylors are great guitars, but I think for the value, this guitar can't be beat.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I haven't played this live yet...I'll probably get around to that in the next year or so... seems like it would hold up just fine... though it is very light! Not much too go wrong with this--seems like it is a very stripped down guitar--doesn't even have a pickguard! No scratches or dings on it yet, but I am extremely careful with it nonetheless.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I haven't had to call customer support yet...knock on wood...

Overall Rating : 10
Well, I was normally an electric player who played a Travis Bean... I alternate between folk in the vein of Bob Dylan/Neil Young and alternative ala the wave of 90's bands (ie Built to Spill). Yes, I'd buy another in a split second if this was stolen or lost. This guitar has kept me playing acoustic for the most part since buying it!

New this year, made in the good ole USA.Solid top back, sides, mahogany, top is a fine grain spruce. No electronics, cutaway, mahogany neck.Body binding around the top.soundhole rosette looks like a sticker, satin finish.
Did not come with a pickguard or a front strap button,I feel that this is( dumber than shit) on the companys part a nice guitar, a pickguard would only add to the appearance and keep the body from getting scratched.A front strap button would have been nice, but Ive been told that during shipment a front button may be a invitation to damage considering the way shipping companys really take pride in what they do.The guitar companys should at least ship it with the guitar, most give you a truss rod wrench, throw the button in too you cheap bastards........

Sound : 10
This is where it really deserves applause, sounds awesome, deep lows, great mid, crystal clear highs.I play all styles, works great for all styles.Had to tweak the action to my satisfaction, but that was it.Very playable guitar, just basically no a no frills, great sounding guitar.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Action was a little on the high side for me,although all of the guitars I have bought have come that way. This I understand, you dont know how it will be shipped,or the climate it will be going to until sold. The top on the guitar is nice, fine grain .Clean inside,no excessive glue.Neck, sides, back all match.Very light on the weight side, which will make it good for playing out,gigging...ect.

Reliability/Durability : 5
Comes with Elixer strings, and I am completely sold on these strings.Same set for 2 months, playing everyday and still sound crisp.Seems durable, with a pickguard would be more durable. With a front strap button on the heel, the neck could be saved from a lot of stress, rather than attaching the strap to the headstock.

Customer Support : 1
They suck......Ive had the guitar for 2 months ,e-mailed them 6 times,no reply, finally called them was told by Tech Support there that the guitar wasnt designed to have a pickguard,(this is a dreadnought style body, not a classical style).Anyway Tech-Support there couldnt have given 2 shits about any opinions. The stupid-ass there was trying to compare it to a Martin........this guitar sounds good but if you know anything about acoustic guitars ,Martin is the standard........BOTTOM LINE.

Overall Rating : 8
I have been playing for 25 years,I own several guitars.Dont get me wrong,Ive been very honest with this review, this is a nice guitar, sounds great, but in my opinion all of their models are pretty plain, something you would use as a gigging guitar. This brand of guitar in no way ,shape,or form can compare to the Martin 28,35,45 series of guitars, workmanship or sound, compare for yourself..........
