Made in Tacoma WA with solid spruce top and quilted maple sides and back. The woods are from the Northwest which made this guitar almost locally nade, i am from oregon. This is a mini jumbo with the custom cherry finish with electronics, no controls on guitar. Mahogany neck is thin with jumbo frets and is very confortable to play. Case is fair as mentioned above. Tuners seem cheap as well as the truss rod cover which is made of black soft plastic which looks funny in contract to all the nice woodwork.

Sound is is even but a little tinnie on the high end. Low end is adequate for a small body guitar. A great fingerpicking guitar. Sounds and intonates well up and down the fingerboard. Electronics sound good without eq but will sound better with external preamp/eq.

The guitar seemed to be set up fine, Action is good, a little buzzing if you really bang on it. This guitar is just plain beautiful. Guitar has no pickguard which worries me a little since i am not the most gentle player and i would hate to scratch up the excellent finish.

I am wondering how this guitar will age. i have seen a few tacoma guitars on ebay with cracks running through the top. Although the tuners seem cheap they work well and stay in tune. i am worried the cherry finish will look like crap as it ages and dings but who knows.

I am not the original purchaser but the guitar has a lifetime warranty which is transferrable if you have the original reciept. I e-mailed Tacoma to get the exact specs and age of the guitar and they responded promptly. The spruce/maple version of thie model i have is no longer produced.

I have tried lots of guitars the last few years and for the money this is a great guitar, but i think the resale value and sellibility is limited as Tacoma has not been around long. i tend to like cheaper guitars for fear of destroying a more expensive unit but i love the size and neck of this guitar alot. I bought this guitar because it seemed like a great deal, the list price is 1600 and i got it for 750.

US made Tacoma Little Jumbo cutaway body style with natural solid spruce top and amazing 3D solid maple back and sides. Gloss finish with tortois binding all around including heel cap. Rosewood bridge and fret board takes it down to a 9. Not bad, but would have perferred ebony. Came with their deluxe hardshell (as all their guitars should) case instead of their standard case )which doesn't seem very durable). Gotoh tuners and "wave" inlay fret markers. No electronics on this, and didn't want them.

The sound is perfect for what I wanted. Smooth, balanced strumming, and lively when fingerpicked. Not too heavy bass or treble. Just nice even tones all over. Better suited for finger style. I love the sound. Excellent with mic in an intimate setting.

Elderly obviously spends some time setting up their guitars.(they throw in new strings of your choice before you walk out the door) Perfect action.....lite and no buzzing. Finish is exquisite. I own two other Tacomas, and they seem to use only the best woods and great care in their construction.

Solid woods, great tuners, excellent finish and a little weight to this guitar. Feels like it's built solid and would withstand the road, but I just play small local stuff. Stays in perfect tune. Will give a 9 just because I can't for sure rate it a 10.

Have only had limited dealings over warrantee papers on another Tacoma, but they seemed helpful and quick to respond.

Overall rating........a solid 10. Tacoma isn't going after the snob appeal. Their instruments are well built with the finest woods at an affordable price. My solid koa PKK40 and this guitar would have been double the price if it were a Taylor or Breedlove. Tacoma might toss on some gold hardeware and ebony bridges and fretboards on all their models, and they too could compete in the higher range market. Or, they can continue to keep their prices down so I can buy another. My next will be their JR55.

I am extremely satisfied with this guitar. I won't repeat the first reviewer's comments, with which I agree. My guitar has the cherry stain option, and it's beautiful. I get lots of compliments on the look. A minor demerit: I was not impressed with the case that Tacoma offers. I will be surprised if it proves durable. However, otherwise, I'd rate it near the top.

I get a hint of buzzing on the 5th string, third fret when I don't hit it just right, but little else is wrong here. The jumbo shape and large sound hole give an especially rich voice to the guitar. At our jam last week, a new player dropped in without an instrument. As I was playing mando, I let him play my Tacoma. I enjoyed his reaction to the playability and responsiveness of the instrument. I've heard a Santa Cruz and a Lakewood rosewood guitar that I might rank ahead of this one, but not by much and certainly not at this price.

I might get that occaional buzz checked out, as that might be a setup flaw. But it's so slight I might just let it go. This guitar had a ding, but that's how I got it so cheap (see comment on price)

Well, it seems pretty solid. I can't afford a back-up, and I've taken it out a few times. The only "drawback," if you can call it that, is that the cherry gloss finish is so beautiful it makes me extra careful not to ding it up.

I made an inquiry about care, and the company was very responsive. But I don't think that's enough interaction to make a judgment here.

If it were stolen, certainly I'de look and listem some more, but I think I would buy the same guitar again. I wish the pickup protruded a little better so that the strap would fit more snugly on the peg. I know that sound counts more than anything, but I love the appearance, especially the way the cherry finish brings out a firey pattern on the walnet sides. For me, looking to spend no more than $1200, it was either a low end Martin\Taylor or the high end of another good brand, with less reputation and re-sale value. As I intend to play this for life, the latter was not a problem. Does it match up with $3 to $5000 Martins, Taylors, Santa Cruz, etc.? Not quite, but damn close, and definitely, in my mind, superior to the low end Martins and Taylors, good as they are. A note on the price: This guitar had small ding on the top, one you have to look for to see. It has a pick-up and the cherry finish. With some bargaining, I got the dealer down to $1000, but I think $1500 to $1800 is probably close to the standard retail.

A Fairly new American Made, High Quality, 6-string Acoustic Guitar. Sitka spruce top, quilted maple back and sides, mahogany neck, and rosewood fingerboard. It's an electric acoustic but unfortunately it has no pre mixer, so your sound when plugged in will be limited.

As mentioned above, you don't have a pre mixer on the guitar. However, this is not the problem. The sound on this guitar is incredible up and down the scale. The lows are deep, the mids are strong, and the highs are bright and clear. I haven't experienced buzzing anywhere on the fretboard.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:

The action on the guitar is what blew me away. Fretting the chords is easy, and there is plenty of action on the strum. Believe me, you feel a huge difference when comparing this to a lower quality guitar. The finish is flawless red quilted maple, with tortoise shelling around the tope and soundhole. The shelling on the fretboard is nice, not too gaudy. Everything was tight, tuned, set up and ready to go, as with most of Tacoma's guitars.

Unfortunately I haven't had my guitar long enough to say just how durable it is. But if taken care of properly, the woods shouldn't warp and it should maintain its quality sound.

This is the fourth acoustic guitar I've owned and it tops all of the others by far. From the finish, to the sound, to the ease of play, you won't be able to put this guitar down. I definitely see myself using this one for a very long time. The only guitars that can compare to it are those by Taylor.
