The EKK19C is drop dead gorgeous, the flaming is spectacular. Guitar does not have a lot of frills besides beautiful wood. No pickguard but I use it exclusively for fingerpicking do no problem. The plain ebony fingerboard is OK the side dots are fine. The electronics are decent for the price range, I play amplified most of the time. I have owned the guitar about a year now, no problems with the guitar, I had to change strings immeadiately and it sounded much better. Been using elixir lights ever since.

Sound : 8
I use the guitar primarily in DADGAD and Open D tunings using this as my "Altered Tuning axe, primary acoustic being a Taylor 815C. The treble is a little weak on this guitar but still overall it is fine and amplified I can work around the weakness. My style is a mix of acoustic blues, celtic and world music in altered tunings and modern fingerstyle. I have used this axe for all at on time or another but have settled it into the altered tuning role. It is a fairly full sound but lacks the brightness of the Taylor. Not disaponinted at all thoughit is half the proce of the Taylor Koa's and has been a bargin.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The action was fine straight from the factory. Pick up is fine to my ear. Bookmarking of the top and back is really spectacular, no flaws

Reliability/Durability : 9
I have owned this guitar for a year now and it is holding up fine, the hardware is fine, some think the tuners are a little small but I think it fits the look. The finish has been strong, I have giged with it with no back up for this style.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have had no contact with the company, there has been no need

Overall Rating : 9
I have been playing about 12 years, I own a Taylor acoustic, a Dobro slide guitar, a classical and a gibson semi hollow body electric. Very comfortable with the guitar and believe it was a bargin. Not sure I would buy it again becausw of the treble limitation but still happy with it overall play it every day.

ditto the features mentioned below.....but......wow!b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-ll..........the case has plush lining but is on the thin side....really not worthy of this level of gitbox...tuners are very stiff but stay put..smallish also...they are black and look gr8 on this....neck looks to be mahogany with a koa top piece on the headstock.....ebony fretboard with no inlays ..only dot markers on the side....ebony bridgepins...not sure if tusq nut and saddle?...body size is a wee bit smaller than some other jumbos by other manufacturers...but it feels right for this guitar...my bookmatching is pretty close..the sound when i got it was short on the highs...but ,a new set of elixers changed that!...as far as the electronics go i havent really tried that part out yet so???my action could be a wee bit lower and ther is no pickgaurd so ill be getting a cling on type......dont wanna scratch up that finish..one lil chip on the headstock so i got a heck of a price reduction!!!good, balanced all around sound

Sound : 9
good all around sound after new strings...good bass and sounds good strummed and finger picked...i dont like not having a pickguard...but ill remedy that with a cling on type ...gr8 for acoustic type rock and does fine on some country tunes.........im gonna put some thomastik strings on next time to test drive..not sure on the electric part of it?.....really puts out some volume....single run lines are real tasty as well

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
action could have been a little bit lower but no buzzes evident, frets looked good..no sharp edges..mine had been sitting in the store for a few months...small chip outta the headstock..bookmatcing was nice...real nice!

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
not sure yet.looks solid..black tuners are sweet and the ebony bridgepins are gr8..i think the finish will last but gotta watch out for pick strummin with gusto........until i get a pickguard that is...

Purchased 3/04, made 12/03
Made in Tacoma, Washington
Solid Koa top/sides/back (I agree with the last post, Good God, what a top, absolutely beautiful!)
C6 Active pickup system, by L.R. Baggs
Gloss body, headstock overlay, satin neck (wonderful)
Tuners are very small, possibly shaller??
Neck: thin neck, similar to Taylor necks.
HSC: Came with a very cheap hsc, more like heavy cardboard. I will upgrade to a decent HSC that this guitar deserves!

Sound : 9
Sound is wonderful, very full, good bass, and mid range response. Highs are chimey. To me it sounds a bit better with a pick verses fingerstyle, but can hold it's own with any big name maker out there. I play folk, rock, blues, jazz and this guitar can handle it all.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Setup was perfect from the factory, no dead spots, and no fret buzz (unlike Taylors I've owned). Intonation was perfect! My top is bookmatched perfectly, and they use the same piece of wood for the back. Another word, the top and back have exactly the same pattern, very heavy flame. This Koa is mucho yummy!!! You would pay $3000 for a Taylor that looks and sounds this good.

Reliability/Durability : 9
We shall see, I wouldn't expect any issues. Finish is a tough UV cured resin that should last forever. Only grip is that there isn't a strap button installed on the neck.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with Tacoma. Life time limited warranty.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing for 30+ years and have owned several Taylors and one Yairi accoustics. Many Electrics. I would have custom ordered one if I had to do over and upgraded to their deluxe HSC. My local music store would not upgrade to Grover tuners, and a better case (guitar ships with the standard HSC, piece of crap). This guitar deserves a much better case, but for the $$$ you pay, just go out and buy another one. This guitar is worth twice what they charge!

Features : 9
Year: 2003, new model
Crafted in: Tacoma, WA USA
Woods: back, sides & top - solid, highly figured Koa
neck-mahogany
fingerboard-ebony
bridge-ebony
Finish: back sides & top-high gloss, neck-satin
Body: "little jumbo" w/cutaway
Saddle/bridge: compensated, (intonation is excellent)
Tuners: seem to be good quality
Neck: 1.7" @ 1st fret, 2.25" @ 20th fret, neck is on thin side like a good electric guitar
Frills: aside from the highly figured Koa (good God!) this is a plain guitar with simulated tortoise shell binding and herringbone rosette around the sound hole, the sound hole has been nicely beveled, there is NO pickguard!
Case: added @ $100, OK but not a Martin hardshell

Sound : 10
My style is blues, delta-blues, country blues, fringe folk, swing, gypsy, jazz, etc. Sound is woody, clear, chimey, rich, strong overtones, suprisingly loud considering the wood and soundboard size (for god's sakes, I bought this guitar on impulse without ever intending to buy a guitar, I had never played a Tacoma until the fateful night I picked up this rascal at a store in "Little Beruit", OR.) Pound for pound and $ for $ this guitar is worth it's weight in gold. It sounds like a quality Archtop on steroids. This guitar is easy to tune given the excellent setup and intonation. It also seems to stay in tune well. Intonation is good in standard, open G and open D tunings.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Setup is excellent, lower action than the Martin D35 that I have been playing for 28 years. Action is medium but the sound is superb!
Bookmatching on top appears to be misaligned by 3/16", bookmatching on back is close to perfect. I don't care. I am interested in how it sounds and it sounds great. All workmanship appears near-perfect.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
Only been playing it for a week. It seems solid

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't needed support. Web site is OK.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing since I heard Eric Clapton/Mayall Bluesbreakers playing Hideaway on alternative radio in Omaha, NE in 1967.

I own a 1973 Martin D35, a Fender reverse 68 and sundry electrics that I have built myself in the tradition of Fender Stats and Gibson Firebirds which I now play through a Fender Blues Jr w/Celestion Blue Alnico. Over the years I have owned many guitars including some nice Gibson archtops, a Hagstrom archtop, Danelectos, Gibson acoustics a Kramer and god forbid even a Messenger.

If this guitar was stolen I would try to replace it.

This guitar sounds like one of Django Reinhardt's Maccaferri's. When you play single note runs hard with a stiff pick (Moshay heavy) it just sings. It sounds good fingerpicked, played with slide, open tuned, chorded free or damped. It makes my nipples hard.
