Purchased new from retailer in 2004, though the guitar was built in 2000 - this model seems to have been out of production for a few years. CE2 electronics package - EMG under-saddle pickup and Ampjak preamp - fix equalizer and no easily accessible volume control, but no hole in the side of the guitar either. Solid spruce top, solid mahogany back/sides/neck, rosewood fretboard with abalone markers, mini-tab tuner, chrome. Satin finish. 14 frets to the body, 20 total. Thinline body - just under 3" deep, with very chic florentine cutaway, abalone rosette, tortoise binding. This guitar is really light - almost feels like it could float away. Action was somewhat high, especially in the cutaway region, but is spot-on now after adjustments. Very nice snug-fitting Tacoma case. Came stock with Elixer lights.
Sound

Exactly what I was looking for - very clear sound from all strings. None of the boominess typical of a deeper body. Super clean sound with or without an amplifier. Recently purchased a very nice 10 year old Martin 000-16T (solid spruce/mahogany) for my wife which is similar body size, though just a bit deeper, and the Tacoma sound is better articulated (if that's a meaningful description).
Action, Fit, & Finish

Action was somewhat high, though once adjusted, it was great. Other than that, it's a beautifully constructed and finished instrument.
Reliability/Durability

This guitar is very light, so I'm inclined to handle it a bit more carefully, though there might not be a need. Everything seems solid, and Tacoma has a great reputation for quality along with a lifetime warranty to back it up.
Customer Support

Warranty is lifetime, and transferable for $50. No need so far to deal with the company, though the dealer was super helpful.

The whole family plays, so we have a variety of electric and acoustic guitars in the house. I started with a Seagull acoustic, but decided to look for a thinner body style that was closer to playing an electric. Was looking pretty seriously at Martin 000's and 00C's when I found out about Tacoma's. Bought this one from a dealer 3000 miles away, and it worked out great - the sound is incredible, exceeding my expectations, and the cost was quite reasonable, considering what I got. I just ordered another Tacoma - a Chief C2C (spruce/rosewood) for backup and variety.

I've got one without onboard eq or volume, just the stock tonebar pickup setup. It sounds very good, much better than any of the piezo units I've tried. The really surprising thing to me is the frequency response of the guitar itself. It has amazing balance and harmonic content for a thin body acoustic. I can play it right alongside a dreadnought acoustically and not feel bad. The tuners are great, the neck is great, it's a beautiful piece of work.

This guitar sounds wonderful no matter what style of music I play on it. I play it through a trace elliot acoustic amp. Using ultra light elixer strings it still has great body to the sound, but without any of the boominess of a big guitar.

I bought this guitar used, but the action is low and fast. The guitar looks fantastic, great quality workmanship, beautiful attention to detail.

Never had a problem with this guitar, I believe it to be as solid as anything made (with the exception of the plastic back guitars of course, but who wants one of those?).

I bought this used at a music store and wanted to find out more about it, so I emailed the company. Got back a response within 48 hours with detailed information about when and how it was made. I am shocked that they no longer make it - it sounds much better than anything they're making now in my opinion.

I've been playing guitar both professionally and as a hobby for over 30 years, electric and acoustic, six and twelve and bass, mandolin, banjo, classical. I've had an ovation 12 string and have an alvarez yairi d28 knockoff which I love. This Tacoma is probably as good an instrument as I'll ever play, and I've played Martins and Taylors and whatever. I think I'd like one with the on board volume and tone stuff, but can't say for sure because I haven't tried one.

Made in USA for all solid woods. Film EMG p/u. Spruce top, mahogany all around, rosewood board & headstock, mini-tab tuner, chrome. Satin finish. Thinline, with a florentine cutaway, an abalone inlay. More the size of a grand auditorium (Taylor 14 series) but more comfortable. Has a fast comfortable neck, tapered? Bought this two months old, used, but like new. Put on fresh elixirs and its perfect.
Action is low and tight after adjustments, little buzz in 6 string but worked it out.

Comtemporary Christian, rhythm and some fingerstyle, does both well. Well balanced sound, bright voice, loud enough unplugged, great plugged. Use a LRBaggs gigpro to have some control when plugged into the big church system. Straight into a Crate acoustic amp makes for a great natural sound. No complaints about anything you can do with this guitar.

Bought used and readjsuted it from previous owner, but it is currently on the money. The p/u is at the mercy of the board operator without the gigpro, but with it control is great. May get a Baggs ParaDI later for a little added control. Guitar is flawless in finish, well made and while it is attractive, it also has that all business look. No too much flash, but just enough different.

Hope it will last a long time, and expect it to. Installed the front button at the heela of the neck no problem Everything is tight and well done, of high quality. When you pick up up it feels solid, gives you confidence. Will be on the road for 10 days this summer and will carry a backup but just because if I don't need it another guy with us might. Expect no problems.

Have e-mailed Tacoma about some extra bridges, never got a response. I hope that isn't a bad sign if I do need 'em later. Downloaded all the tech info from their website which is very good. But comeon its an American company, they'll make good, right?

Into this for a couple of years now. Just have this guitar, a Taylor Big Baby for travel, w/ a p/u installed, Cort JTrigg Chamber semi-hollow electric, Crate amp. If lost, would definately replace with the same, similar or another Tacoma. Love th feel sound and neck. Picked this over more expensive Taylor 414, Martin 16E and not on price but sound and feel. Like it as it is.

I just got mine in 98 but I think they have been out 3 years. The company isn't that old so the guitar isn't. It's a solid spuce top and solid mahogany sides. Rosewood fingerboard and bridge. The inlay looks like it's glowing. It has piezo pickups and includes a small allen wrench to adjust gain. It also included a truss rod tool. I traded a martin dreadnought in to get it cause the dreadnoughts hurt my arm. The EM10CE has a thinline body and a tapered neck that is too comfortable to be believed. It has tortishell binding and as I've said, inlay that glows. My only complaint is that one of the marking spots is real dark. I wouldn't have used that chunk of abolone if it were me. That's hardly a major point though. I can't remember what brand of strings it came with but I just put martin phospore bronzes on it and it sounds even better, a sparking quality. It came with a nice case with blue velvet lining. The case is brown. I think it is really vinel but it looks good now.

I think the sound is ok. It's not a dreadnought so it's not going to have the volume. It really sounds good with the martin strings. When I was playing the martin I thought I was accidently hitting the bass strings it was so bassy. I like the balance of the tacoma.

I usually adjust something but so far I haven't adjusted anything but the saddle. It was pretty good when I got it but I made the action a little bit lower. I called the company and got extra saddles, but I aways do that. They had some in my mailbox the next week, as I recall they didn't charge me either. The finish is a durable satin finish. I don't know what it is but it's tougher than it looks. I had a problem dinging the martin but haven't made as much as a scratch on this one. It doesn't even have a pick gaurd. I don't do aggressive picking but I still don't see as much as a scratch and I know I've accidently tapped it against stuff. It had 2 scratchs when I got it, I would hate to know what happened to cause that. Luckily they are not where you can see them. My only complaint is that I have that wire that goes from the pickups to the plug that vibrates and rattles sometimes. I turn the plug to where the wire isn't touching but it is still a problem sometimes.

I've never played a gig so I don't know how it would hold up but I do play a lot and take it with me a lot. The finish is very durable, maybe too so, I think a thinner finish might give more volume, although it does have pickups.

I only dealt with the company as far as getting extra saddles and I got them.

I have a baby taylor and a charval electric guitar. I have a music man tube amp and a little sidekick. Recently I have been going to all the stores comparing guitars in preparation for a new one but since playing the tacoma the other's don't seem as easy to play, tayor, martin ect, the tacoma feels so good! I think the secret is in the tapered neck. I wish tacoma made classical guitars as I think the company could improve on the current technology to make a truly superior classical nylon string guitar. Not only would I get another one but am planning on adding a cheif to my collection. It is so pretty there is nothing in it's price range that even compares. I would like to see posts from other EM owners to see if they are as pleased as me. My only suggestion would be to ship these babies with martin strings on them.
