This Electric Classical Model has an AD-1 DSP pickup and electronics which is outstanding for the Classical Guitar, the best I have ever heard for Classical Guitar. I put off buying an Electric Classical Guitar for many years because I could not find one that did not have the ringing sounding when amplified. This Guitar has as close as possible to the natural acoustic sound.

The AD-1 for Classical Guitar has great sound, with a built in tuner that is very useful. The Ten Presets are very good. The tone and volume controls are easy to adjust on the fly. However, the AD-1 is is a complex system that uses up batteries faster than most Electric Acoustic Pickup systems. I can play about 4 two hours jobs, and arond the house some, and the batteries must be replaced. The electronics do a lot, so they use power. There is no way this can be avoided.

The Guitar is beautiful. It frets good and true. I like the Neck of this Guitar.

The Guitar played as a pure acoustic Guitar lacks in sound. But as a Electric Amplifited guitar, it is second to none. I have played all the most expensive Electric Acoustic Classical Guitars and none compared to the Takemine CD132SC. The model by the way has been discontinued. A more expensive model has replaced this model. Since it was a discontinued model, I got a really good price on this Guitar.

Played as a pure acoustic Guitar, the sound is getting better with time.

The AD-1 Pickup and Electronics delivers clear tone with the definition better than any Guitar I have played before. The Sound Quality from the AD-1 on the Classical Guitar is absolutely excellent, the best I have ever heard. This is inspirational when you are playing a job with the Guitar. I play Solo Guitar and Singing job. This Guitar delivers some sound that is out of sight.

I tried a Takamine Steel String Acoustic Guitar with an AD-1 Pickup and Electronics but the Steel String Guitar does not have the superior sound with the AD-1 that the Classical Guitar has. Just thought I'd mention that.

If you play music jobs where your Classical Guitar must be amplified, a high end Takamine with a AD-1 Pickup and Electronics has to be the best there is. As a strictly acoustic Classical Guitar, there are better Guitar.

I am completely happy with the Takamine CD132SC except for having to change batteries as often as I do. But that cannot be avoided with the complex Digital Electronics that give you the Great Sound that this Guitar Gives.

Sound : 9
Rich full sound. Clear sound with great definition. You can play this Guitar with the cheapest amp and it sound great.

Played with no reverb, or delay, the Guitar Sound so full and natural. I use a Line6 Delay Modeler and switch back and for from many delay sounds to a natural sound. The transition gives good variety to my live performances.

To me the sound is a dream for those who love the Classical Guitar Sound but must have it amplified. The AD-1 makes the instrument a good recording Guitar, going to line in instead of using a microphone.

The balance in sound is as close to being perfrect as can be had. The tone is pure very pure.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Action Fit and finish are near as close to being perfect as can be had.The Guitar Plays effortlessly.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Reliability and Durability are as good ss they can possibly be. I use this Guitar on Gigs on a weekly basis. For live Gigs, where you must amplify your classical Guitar, there is none better than a Takamine High End Classical with an AD-1 Pickup and Electronics.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have not had to have support on this Guitar.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for many years. I played full time professional, no day job for 8 years. I played for many years as a weekend musician. I'm once again playing full time as a solo Guitarist and singer, heavy on the Guitar Playing, but I do vocals with Solo Guitar Breaks.

I compared this Guitar with every Electric Classical Guitar I could find, and with the most expensive Electric Classical. No other Electric Classical compares to this Guitar.

I definitely prefer this Guitar to any other Electric Classical Guitar. In my opinion, no other Electric Classical Guitar compares to the Takamine I own, the CD132SC.

Takamine mid priced Guitars are very popular. If you can afford a high end Classical Guitar check out Takamine. I believe the high end Takamine Guitars are unsurpassed for the money. It's too bad the world had not discovered the high end Takamine Acoustic Guitars.

Solid cedar Top, rosewood back, sides, rosewood fretboard. 19 fret, standard classical scale. Features a pretty nifty pickup, as others have stated, very useable presets, and nice "Sub" functions with parametric EQ and Feedback absorber, uses 2 AA batteries, so I'm guessing it will go through them quickly if you keep it plugged in for a long time. Necks pretty wide, but thin enough were it's comforatble to play. Finish is clear gloss all around. This one came with an SKB case, and the guitar fits quite well in it.

Sound : 7
Acoustically, nice mellow tone, as with nylon string guitars, they are not typically loud acoustically. Plugged in, the pickup does a good job of keeping the natural classical sound and as I stated in the features catagory, very usable presets. I've yet to have a feedback problem when used in a live playing situation. I have a Peavey KBA60 amp that I use lined into our sound board, the Peavey is primarly a montior for my ears, the line out of the PV goes to the PA.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
action is 5/32(b) ~ 4/32(t) and comes with a set of normal tension regular gauge strings. Frets appear to be well set, although I found a few high frets, and a few frets that could probably be reglued, but overall, the facing job seems adequate, with no noticablly sharp fret edges. The bridge maybe showing signs of needing a reglue, but I'm not 100% sure. Time will tell, (I have a luthier that this will be going to next week, and I'll let him asses this..) Tuning pegs feel consitant, tight, and with out any noticable backlash. Nut regulation is noticably incorrect, (G string rides too high in the slot), same is true with the brige. This irritates me no end.. how long would it take the factory guys to do this correclty ? nonetheless, Most of the issues I've seen are minor, and can be addressed, with the exception of the bridge, that's correctable, but about $100 to have addressed if required. Truss rod moves smoothly and appears to be working properly, I'm rating this sort of low, because I believe Takamine, as well as all the other MFGs can and should do a better job with their final setup and finish work. There's really no excuse -- ya know...

Reliability/Durability : 7
As far as durabilty, I can't see why this wouldn't last a while, given I may need to address the brige seal, I can't think of anything beyond that.

I've been playing for well over 30 years, this is oneof three acoustic guitars I own, in addition to four electrics. Before I bought the guitar, I knew what to check and look at and it seemed reasonably satisfactory (I will mention again that my only concern at this point is the bridge's factory glue job. If it were stolenm or lost, I would seek another (after my insurance company settled the claim!) I've had three previous classical guitars (yamhas), and clearly this one is superior to them, but it should be given they list
for around $1,400.. I would recommend this guitar for anyone wishing to out fit themselves with a good classical acou/electric for under $1,000. The closest thing I've seen to this is the Yamaha CGX171SC and I think the Takamine is a much better built gutiar.

This is a solid top acoustic/electric classical guitar w/ cutaway. The built in reverb and EQ is very nice!!

Sound : 8
The sound quality for this instrument is very good. It has a nice full sound, and decent balance between lows and highs.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
My model was a factory 2nd, with a dime-sized blemish on the guitar's face. Otherwise, it came in excellent condition. The action is great, and w/ the exception of one very slightly loose tuning machine, this instrument was in fine condition.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I have only owned this guitar for around one year. I play it pretty much daily, and have travelled with it on several occasions. I take very good care of it, and it is in the exact same condition as when I purchased it. Very nice.

I have been playing for around 6-7 years, and this guitar is perfect for an intermediate player such as myself. If anything ever happened to it, I would look immediately to buy another Takamine. For the price it is a great buy, and I believe this is Takamine's top-selling model. The only minor problem I've had with this guitar, is that it eats batteries like there's no tomorrow. However, I found this out while doing some recording, and the guitar was on for 4-6 hours at a time. It's a great guitar though!! Plugged in or not, it sounds great!!
