Cut-away design classical guitar, 19 frets, black finish (no longer made), CT-4BII pre-amp w/ 3 Band EQ and built-in tuner. Came with replacement bridge of different size, so you can easily set it up for high or low action. Also has a truss rod in the neck, although the neck seems perfectly straight no matter how you adjust it. I can't think of any other features I would want on the instrument.

The sound is "warm" ie. a little muddy, but I tend to have a tin ear. I am picking way back by the bridge to bring it out more. I have mainly played electric guitars so it may be that I don't have the right classical technique in my right hand. I remember old Takamine's from 20 years ago that had a very bright sound, and this guitar is not like that. To tell you the truth I liked the brighter sound better. If I plug this into my Pod guitar processor, it's clean with a very low noise floor.

The action is too high for me, even when I use the smaller bridge. I may try to file down the extra bridge that comes with the guitar - it's nowhere near buzzing no matter how hard I play it. You would have to look at this guitar under a microscope to find a flaw - the craftmanship could not be better.

It is very solid and heavier than I expected. The tuners have no slippage in them. I bought this used and don't know how old it is. The previous owner played it with a pick, but the scratches are invisible unless you look at the right angle. I think it has very think layers of paint and finish on it, and you would have to really smash it to chip the paint.

I have no idea about this. I bought it on e-bay from a pawn shop. The prices on this guitar are all over the place, so shop around before you buy one.

I started playing guitar at about 12 years old, over 30 years ago. I'm an amateur and beyond high school garage bands and playing in the jazz band in college, I just play for my own enjoyment. I owned a Gibson ES-335 and a Fender Mustang in the past, have another classical guitar but its a cheapo. If you're an electric guitar player, also take a look at the new Ibanez EWN28 series. They have a thin neck like an electric and sound great. If I had that guitar it would be very natural for me as a jazz player, but I decided to go for the more traditional classical guitar and force myself to develop the technique.

Not very helpful. "Just send it back if it is not working properly"
Why send me a guitar that is not working properly and the cause me the headache of having to ship it back and watch for my credit card to get reimbursed????

Overall rating of ZZsounds- Zero. I've dealt with enough musical instrument distributors over the past 40 years and have never been sent a product that was malfunctioning out of the box. It's as though no checks are made before shipping. Extremely poor business practices in today's US economy.

Made in Japan :) Onboard EQ (T/M/B); Volume; Tuner with Hz switcher - from 438 to 443; Truss rod - Very rare for a classical!; 19 frets with great cutaway; Body is solid rosewood (Indian); Solid Cedar top; rosewood fingerboard; Mahogany neck. Gloss finish throughout; Case included. Would have prefered an ebony fingerboard, but rosewood is fine.

Accoustically, it has a way to go from legit classicals. Plugged in it sounds GREAT with a piezo and mike in the body - very warm (like a classical should be). Very even throughout the register.

A little fret buzz on the D string near the nut. Only other beef with it is the frets are a little too small. But hey! Playing real music with classicals isn't supposed to be easy. Frets are good, however. If all of my guitars had this few complaints, I'd be a happy man!

"Relentless" was a term I used for this baby when I played a gig with it recently. It was on the coast of NC. I played an hour inside for a cocktail hour then shifted gears outside to the beach for the ceremony. The humidity shift would've killed the tuning on most guitars; yet I tuned it once and never looked back. Love the truss rod. It makes it a little heavier, but is worth the stability. No

Let's face it - for most of us, the reason we write reviews on these products is cause we love them! I've been playing an average of 2 weddings/month plus a restaurant gig. This doesn't have the sound of a Brune or Fleta but, hey, I'm a working man and this is the perfect working man's classical! A great value - thank you Takamine and Washington Music Center.

The Sound Is Full And Rich. However I Would Like to see a 4-Band EQ On This Guitar.

The Action, Fit & Finish Was OK.
However, I Did Have Problems With A Very Bad Buzzing Noise That Was Coming from Luse Bracing Just Under The Bridge. Just After A Very Poor Repair Job To The Bracing, I Started Having Problems With The Preamp That Takamine Would Not Fix! (This Was A New $1,200 Guitar Without The Case!)
