My Takamine model is " m ef 360sc". I beleive that the M is for Midi as this guitar came with a midi pickup and module the signal is sent throught what looks like a stereo guitar cord..
There is a push button on the top side that turns off the sound output.
Other than that it has a three slider equlizer and one for volume this requires a nine volt battery, mounted inside the guitar
It is a cut away design and has crome tuners with Takamine maked on them. There's a Made in Japan sticker on the back of the head stock also the head stock has a inlay of mother of pearl of the name Takamine
The sides and back look like rose would. The back has inlay running down the middle. The edges are bound too.
The fretboard looks like rosewood and is bound and had 20 frets with dot type fret markers

Sound : 7
I find sound to be in the ear of the beholder ..but htis guitar sound fine when played accousticly..when run into a amp the Eq. helps to give it a balanced sound..feed back can be a problem..
On the midi side the tracking is unreliable..but fun to play with and perfect fingering is needed.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
The finish is great the wood are very nice and everything is tight . The sting action isn't supper low but not high either..good for picking..
I am stating to wonder about the intonation as if you play down the neck it sounds in tune but if you move up the neck it is sound slightly out of tune.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I have had no problems with thie guitar..only if the battery dies you have no sound output..It's a well built guitar

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had any need for customer suport ..I bought ths guitar second hand about 13 years or more ago.I just use it at home personal use

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I have been playing on and off about 40 years. I bought this guitar for the midi controller but found it was to unreliable and slow..like most other midi set ups
But it's has stood up well and looks the same as when I got it and still plays great.

The Takamine I own was made in 1981 (pre-lawsuit) and is identical to the martin D-28. I bought this guitar new in 1981 and have babied it ever since. The book that came with mine tells of it being hand made in Japan and to tell the truth there is no lack of quality with this axe.
The only problem I have seen is sometimes the eq squeals when I adjust the volume. Everything is about as perfect with this guitar as any I have ever owned.

Sound : 9
I paly with a thumbpick and two fingers and have no problem whatsoever with volume from this guitar. Mine has a rich full tone which seems to get better with age. It is 23 years old now (I don't know what that is in "guitar years" but like a fine violin the tone is improved. i use Martin strings medium guage.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The action is fine on this guitar. Set up is good and there are no real issues. The finish is about as good as your going to see on any guitar and it seems to be pretty tough. There are a few very minor dings which are not readily noticeable which I guess would be expected on a guitar nearly 25 years old.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar is about as reliable as any i have ever played. i have owned Gibson and Fender flattops but this one is the only thing I would have unless I could acquire a D-28 or a D-45. I don't play gigs anymore, only for my own enjoyment, but I would not hesitate to take this guitar as my only one.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never needed it

Overall Rating : 10
I have been picking for 40 years and have played and owned several guitars and this ranks right up there with the best of them. i was offered a thousand dollars for this guitar sveral years ago and refused it because I was afraid I could nver get another one just like it. This guitar is my "baby" and will be handed down to my grandkids.

mine's a '94 and was owned by a "legend", but I'm not goin down that road 'cos I've got no ego;- God only knows why he unloaded it, it realy is that good. I'm just a two bit strummer, but Gerry Lannin played it for me, all the dots etc, and I actually was reduced to tears! I stuck in a new bridge, ground it in to 1/8th above twelfth fret,[sort of standard] and regularly love juice the fretboard. Other than strings, no need to mess with my babe.

Sound : 9
Rich, full, bright, yes! Noisy? only if I'm really rough, and thats by desighn. Effects used are my fingers, plectrums are taboo.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Overall build quality for this this type of "mass produced" instrument is simply "the dogs rear wheels". nuff said.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar plays giggs, it busks [rain as well sadly] goes on holiday, regularly jams; almost bullet proof.

Customer Support : 6
havn't a clue; back up's for baby's. With 2nd owned instruments I'm happy to pay my money & take my chances.

Overall Rating : 8
First played in 1963, first gigged in 1964. Only other instruments now owned are Takamine EF261sc & Telecaster '64 custom. Mountain of Orange amplification just gatherin dust; the 360 & any thing thats available is just fine, i.e. house pa or an open street, it still sounds good. I wish I had bought two!

I submitted an earlier review for this guitar in which I said it had a one-piece neck. Actually, it isn't one-piece. It has a separate piece at the end that glues onto the body, which I didn't notice until recently. It also looks like it has one little slice near the 6th string tuner. I'll change the rating for the feature category to 9, all other categories unchanged. Everything else I said about it is still valid. All in all a very sweet guitar.

You can currently see a picture and the specs for this 6-string acoustic/electric cutaway guitar at:
http://www.takamine.com/?fa=detail&mid=135&sid=66#
I think mine is an '02 model. It was on the clearance rack at Mars so I suppose it could be an '01. 20 frets. Solid spruce top. Pretty inlays around soundhole and down the back. Rosewood back and sides. Fretboard I think is ebony. The dot inlays are kinda cool, like none I've seen before, not too fancy, but still tasteful. Has the Takamine GRAPHEX 3-band preamp with volume control and battery check. Electonics have a noise floor of 0.001 V pp, and signal of 1 V pp. I checked it before purchase due to problems I've had with other acoustic guitar pickups. Neck is one-piece as far as I can tell (no separate laminated piece for the headstock like some other Takamines and even Taylors). The above website says this model has gold tuners, but mine has silver ones which work great. Stays in tune very well. Was set up well with no buzzing frets. It's easy to play, action is great. Came with the plastic Takamine hardshell case. Retail is $1450. Mars original price was $899. I got it for $723. I feel like it was a fair deal, even though the other reviewers got theirs for less.

Sound : 10
Noise level is very low (see my measurements above). The signal level could be a little stronger, but it is still very decent, at least compared to the other guitars I measured. It's got a very full bodied tone. The low end is great, so is the high end and everything in between. It's a joy to play. I play lots of styles, but mostly pop, classic rock, alternative rock, folk music, a bit of country. This guitar just seems to sound great for anything acoustic.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Was set up well. Action is fine. Finish is beautiful. My particular one had two very small dings on the neck near the body. That's probably why it was on the sale rack.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I haven't had it long enough to know for sure about reliability, but it sure seems like a well built guitar to me. I also have a 12-string Takamine that's never had any problems. Giving it a 9 because of the general uncertainty, not because of anything in particular.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't had to deal with Takamine support yet. They do have a nice website.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 28 years. I have owned many guitars, but only one other 6-string acoustic. I've played on lots of 6-string acoustics over the years. I tried most of the cutaway 6-strings in this price range at two stores before choosing this one. I'd say this one compares favorably to more expensive Martins and Taylors which are of course excellent guitars with long solid reputations. Not all Takamines are as nice as this one, so you should be choosy. General advice - if you're going to do recording with the built-in pickup in an acoustic, I suggest evaluating its performance before you buy. Signal and noise levels may not be what you expect. The electronics on mine seem pretty respectable.

Uh I Believe this guitar was made in Japan. Age wise I really cant say how old it is, it seems to have seen some action. Its got 20 frets, 3 a side headstock etc, standard steel strung acoustic features. It has a cutaway giving easy upper fret access. Electronic preamp with Gain, treble and bass sliders.
Nice binding around the body and also the neck. Basically a good quality acoustic.
Im not sure how old it is, Ive found some indication of these guitars dting back to the turn of the decade 70's to 80's but i found some old adds on the net for these guitars new at over $1000 so who knows.

Sound : 8
The guitars sound is full and solid.
Compared the guitar to a Washburn D11, EF360SC was better cause of the cutaway and much fuller sound, Washburn D12SCE, this guitar was still better, much fuller sound and also some Yamaha, the EF360SC was more comfortable. Also my friend has a Fender DG27 (i think) eletreo acoustic and he commented that this guitar was very full sounding.
The guitar jsut sounds really full and solid, sonically its a great acoustic, good harmonics response as well.
Plugged in it sounds very much the same. It sounds true to its acoustic character, the preamp is very responsive to changes in the controls.
I play a lot of stuff, mostly rock, Hendrix to Tool, The Pixies to SRV. Generally this guitar is good for any of that stuff that is suitable for an acoustic. Playing Breeders, Nirvana, and Pixies songs is great on the acoustic, but I wouldnt try Tool ;)

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
Well this guitar is used. Its got a paint scratch on the back and a couple of dents int he upper neck, fortunaely these arent felt when playing because they are towards the lower sied of the neck where my hand doesnt feel them. All in all the guitar appears to be pretty solid in construction, no real faults, warping or anything. The tuners are good quality as well, keeps in tune well.
However the action on this guitar is quite bad. Its low, too low. The D string especially buzzes a lot when played around the 12th fret. The guitar could do with a new bridge to raise the action and a truss rod adjustment. Sometime Ill get that done. Still its used and a little old so these things happen. No rust or anything...just human damage and this action problem, probably the bridge was shaved too low.

Reliability/Durability : 9
The guitar seems very durable and solidly built. Nothing seems to be coming apart at all. This guitar is very solid looking and feeling.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Not much to say here. But www.coda-music.com gave me a 3 month warranty. The only complaint I have is that the Takamine website has noa rchive, I have found very little information on this model.

Overall Rating : 8
Ive been playing close to 3 years. This is my second acoustic, my first is nylon strung and very cheap, was my first guitar. Ive owned an Epiphone Les paul and a Squire Duo Sonic, currently I play a Fender Cyclone with a Zoom GFX-4, Boss Os-2, Crybaby and Dano flanger into my 1980 Fender Princeton Reverb. I played the guitar thru that amp and also with the chorus of the GFX-4 for that Metallica-Nothing else matters sound.
Id be happy to hear more information on this guitar from anyone.

Mine is an early '80's model (with the Martin-style headstock), made in Japan. It has a pre-amp eq (see below under reliability) hooked to a piezo pickup under the saddle. This is a very pretty guitar, with nice wood and binding on the body. The neck is nice and simple. It plays very very nicely and the cutaway gives access up to the hight registers. Small frets (mine are worn down to the point that they might as well be painted on).

Sound : 9
I have found this to be a very nice guitar tone-wise. Unplugged it is clear and loud. I prefer D'Addario strings above all others. Straight into a PA the piezo is perfectly functional. I do a lot of recording with this guitar... often running it through a '68 Super Reverb, while also miking it (to get an idea of this sound, check out http://mp3.com/jonathanreynolds and http://mp3.com/ngm ).

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
All very very nice.

Reliability/Durability : 8
Hmmmm. This guitar has taken some abuse. It has been dropped a couple of times (not by me, I must add), and though battered it has kept on playing. I tend to play pretty rough, and by the time I die I expect to have worn a Willy Nelson type hole in the top. The saddle pulled up a bit as it aged, and I had to cut the bridge down to compensate. Last year the EQ/preamp crapped out. It would cost a fortune to fix, so I just bypassed it and run via a Tube MP, now. Sounds better, anyway.

Customer Support : 6
Regarding the bridge trouble above, A local dealer leaned on Takamine pretty hard to get them to fix it under waranty (even though this guitar never had one) on the grounds that I was a very visable local musican (at the time, now I'm old and boring). Tak refused, though. So much for artist support.

Overall Rating : 9
With almost two decades of hard playing on it, this guitar is coming due for a pretty major overhall. It will be worth the bucks. This was my first "real" guitar, and I'm glad I spent the money on it... I'll never need another acoustic.
