I really have no idea about the details of this "creation." I bought it used and it has none of the original specs (year, etc.) Thats why i ended up coming to this site. It has two dials, one for volume and one for tone, and it has a 3-way switch. Mahogany neck. Basically what everyone else said. Being a chick guitarist, its hard to get respect even if you kick ass. With the extreme style people automatically listen to you. Its kinda hard to ignore a guitar like the GX-100T.

This guitar has a killer sound. I use it for everything i play, which ranges from funk to Rammstein. It tends to work best with distortion, just because of the body style.

Mine went through hell before I bought it and it still kicks ass with a few knicks. The strings get loose kinda quickly, Im not sure if its me or the guitar. The neck is great for playing metal.

I have yet to play live with this, but it should be fine. I have to clean it a little more than I would like though. If you have one of these, DONT FORGET THE STRAPLOCKS! The original buttons just dont work. Before I replaced 'em the strap would almost always come off. Its kind of hard to travel with it because it has to have a custom case.

Like everyone else says, this guitar is almost non-existant to the world. I hate telling people that it looks like a Gibson explorer. This one is way better looking than the explorer. This model is what rock should look like. It has attitude sitting in a corner (which is how I found it). Let the rock community know about this guitar!

This one was my first guitar and it great to learn on. Nothing about it makes it difficult to play. If anything happened to this guitar i would do anything to get it back or find one exactly like it, scratches and all. I love the way it looks. With this you command attention.

well, the looks are a bit like an Explorer, black, made in Japan between 82 and 84, 22 frets, total mahogany and a set neck. One tone, one volume knob and a switch...to switch the humbuckers, passive electronics. It's a strange thing....I don't like the look of "metal" guitars, but this one...yeah, this one is great

I like a lot of styles, it's between Hendrix, Trower, David Sylvian, Genesis, The doors, Allan Holdsworth, House, The Teaparty....and that's what I play now for about 30 years. I use a POD 2.0 XT, straight into my PC and it's a warm heavy sound.

I bought the Tak second hand for about Dollar 104, the action is good, not perfect so I have to find someone who will help me with that (ore try it bij myself....)
rest is perfect...I don't understand why this guitar is not famous...

As far as I can tell from the information I have been given, this model was only made in 1984, made in Japan. 22 frets, very low action, your low-e is a bit buzzy but, that can be fixed by having the nut shimmed. Solid neck thru construction. Volume, Tone and 3 way controls, dual DiMarzio Destroyer humbuckers, passive. I believe it's an alder body with a rosewood fingerboard. Black finish, it's been chipped and abused, but, it still looks great with all the wear. Explorer copy body, but very slim and pointy. Non locking no-name tuners. very fast neck.

The pickups are great for heavily palm-muted power chords and basicly anything where moderate to heavy distortion is used. My only complaint about the pickups is, in certian lighting, the feedback is bad eneugh to make ears bleed. but these are definatly the best pickups I have played for really thick and heavy distortion while retaining quite a bit of clarity.

the action is very very light, you get spoiled playing this guitar. The pickups, minus the feedback are great, this guitar has been abused it whole life, but, the only thing that shows it would be the finish, and it actually looks better all chipped up, it gives the guitar a lot of charicter. Very well made. The only thing I really don't like is the vomume knob is in a very bad spot because you constantly bash it with your hand

I would definatly use it live without backup, as long as you don't get mad and smash it, she'll hold up, and I've yet to break a string...

I got this guitar for my 13 birthday,in 1985, for a whopping $250 U.S.,and yes it was new! I remember there were two to choose from at the shop I got it. A deep metalic red and an all black, both GX-100BT s, not TB as I have now seen on other models. I chose the red just because I figured it wouldn't show scratches as much. The neck has 22 frets, which are still in good shape today after years of abuse. And although I didn't know it at the time it has action to die for, and a very thin neck through design. It was a solid top, no burst or pick guard, and avolume tone, and 3-way selector. Pickups consist of two humbuckers, onr bridge the other neck, make and model are unknown to me although I have heard they were a DiMarzio design, But they could have been something Takamine came up with. As far I know the body is bass wood and the neck rosewood. All passive electronics. The body style was similar to the gibson explorer, but slightly smaller and pointier. It also had a non-locking tremolo bridge and whammy bar, no locking nut, although it has one now. I have heard alot of complaints about the tuners on these guitars, all others i have seen have thesecheesy chrome machines. Not so in this case, this one has some nice enclosed black machines, and they are stock cause first of all I am the original owner, and each one has Takamine printed on the back. The only accessories that came with it were a nice hardshell case and a strap.

I play anything from ZZtop to Fear Factory and this guitar has a good range for it all. It really shines in the Metal category though. I really didn't know how good the pickups were till I changed the bridge pu out for a Seymour Duncan Invader pu. I was told that this pu was the shit for metal, but all I gained was a little bit more control in the feedback area. And my distortion and sustian weren't as good. The only complaint I have about the sound is the feedback. It took me alot of tinkering to get it right. For years I was known as the feedback king, and not the mellow usable kind of feedback, I'm talkin the total out of control, blow out your eardrums kind of feedback. But I finally got a handle on it, I run through a Mesa/Boogie Triaxis preamp, into two old Kustom 100 watt heads(one with reverb), and a Lee Jackson 100watt head. The kustoms each push a 2-15 kustom cabinet, wich I have tuned to take care of mostly low end. The Lee Jackson goes through a Lee Jackson 4-12 cab with celestion spkrs. Needless to say it shakes the ground! The bridge pickups are great for bluesy type soloing and clean riffing. Nice full round sound. When I took it to my guitar teacher he was really impressed with the sound and playability, I was 13 I thought it looked cool!

As I said before the action was awesome, and everthing was well adjusted, as far as I can remember. Paint job was awesome the deepest metallic red I'd ever seen! Unfortunately after I Installed A Floyd Rose bridge I repainted it black. I say unfortunately cause it's the only one I've ever seen this color!

The first 10 years of this guitars life were not nice ones. Including being in the back of my truck for 2.5 hrs. in the freezing rain, in the case of course. But it happened more than once! Eventually the knobs and switch became corroded, nothing a little cleaning couldn't take care of. I have gigged it lots with no backup. I just made sure the strings weren't too old, and never had a problem.

I've been playing since I was 13 I will never get rid of my Taks(I own 4 now). If ever stolen they'd better hope I never catch'em, cause it won't be pretty! I love it cause it's different, it sounds great, its durable, and it was cheap! What more could you ask for! If I had a dollar for every time I've heard "I didn't know Takamine made electrics"...........

Don't know when made but there is a made in Japan label. 22 frests of great action. Solid body looks similar to an SG. One volume, 2 tone controls with 3 way selector. 2 old ratty looking humbukers that still maintain smooth punch. I got this as a gift for my High School graduation about 9 years ago. Came with a very heavy Ibanez case. I have a tremelo bar which use to work but I never use it so it doesn't matter to me.

I learned on this guitar which ranges from jazz, folk to indy and goth rock. As mentioned the action is great, better than any other guitar I've played. My other guitar is 62 american reissue Jaguar and at moments I feel like the Takamine has a much fatter sound of course comparing the aged humbuckers with fender factory single coiled jag pu which is another story. I use to play it through a Fender deluxe 85 and got a sweet hard rock sound. Was a good grunge guitar when grunge was in. Now I use a Rivera Sedona and my ears are adjusting to using both neck and bridge PU's to shred out some classic rock sounds along with some fat Jazz sounds.

Action again...excellent. Needed to adjust pickups and bridge to my taste when I got it. Black finish with some chips. Looks like the person who owned this before me shreded often. Lots of scratches by the pickguard .The wood is light and solid. The tuning knobs look real cheap. The screws that hold the bridge in and the pickups look sort of oxidized but it hasn't affected the sound. The tuning knobs are cheap aswell

I've had this guitar for 9 years and was careless with it for the first 5 years. When I got it it was full of dust as if someone left it in grandma's attic and I needed to tinker with the knobs, bridge and pickups before it was to my liking. I use it as my second guitar at gigs. This guitar is definately durable and reliable and has sustained much abuse throughout the years but still looks and sounds great

MIJ. No idea when, I heard somewhere that Takamine only made electrics for one year. Cannot verify that though. If you call them to ask the answer is "We made electric guitars???" I'm not even kidding. 22 frets, H/H DiMarzio pickups, Master Volume/Tone, 3-way toggle, vintage style trem. Cheap, crappy tuners. Neck through construction, black finish, looks kinda like a very slim Explorer. Features? Everything you need for Humbucking mayhem.

I basically play blues and classic rock, I use this guitar when I'm in the metal mood. It probably does a better job at '80s metal than modern. Not that it can't get there but anything can get there these days if you have enough (or the right) pedals. I use this with a Marshall JCM 800 with a 4X12 cab and it rocks, a little Dano Fab Tone, a little Dano Cool Cat, I'm telling you, I've thought of after market pickups but there is no need, these DiMarzio's have really got that "R n' R All Night" sound. It is what one might expect from hummies, powerfull and a little muddy. A very full sound overall.

I have no idea how these came from the factory or, like I said, even what year it was made. I can tell you this though. The action is like no other. BUTTER!! There is nothing I can even compare it to. The closest thing I can think of would be my G&L Commanche, even that is not quite right. To be honest this was a novelty purchase. I am very rarely in the "Enter Sandman" mood. But this guitar is damn near impossible to put down. If my wife made me sell every thing and only keep one guitar, I would have to think seriously about it being this one. It plays that good. I hate to belabor the point but there is nothing on Earth that plays as well as this one does.

This guitar is solid. What solid body isn't? There are a few things that need to be taken care of however. The tuning keys are of the cheap "who-gives-a shit" kind. Definately need to change those. Throw on some Schallers or Grovers, it is worth the $50 at least. Due to the placement of the buttons I strongly recommend strap locks of some kind, This thing WILL fall off of you. Once those are taken care of you can gig to your hearts content.

They know nothing of these guitars. I do not fault them. For all I know Takamine is a completely different company by now. Though a history lesson could hurt. I will rate this catagory as it applies to this specific intrament.

I have been playing for around four years. Not long many of you say, and that is true. I have, however, owned a LOT of gear. I suffer for G.A.S. very badly, a terminal case. This guitar is the best value I have ever come acrossed. If you are into metal (death or otherwise) find one of these. Malmsteen? Find one of these! Slayer? Find one of these. I really can't stess enough the value of these. I will leave you with this. The guy I had set this up for me when I bought it (a friend of mine) used to build guitars for Gibson at the old Kalamazoo plant, he was amazed by the craftsmanship. He asked how much I paid for it stating that if it was under $500 that I stole it... As far as overall value goes, there is nothing out there better. NOTHING! Ahhhh, if only is was shaped like a strat or something. Though I guess nothing says I can't play the blues on a pointy 80's metal axe.

This is a solid body electric guitar. Its shape is a cross between a Jackson Kelly and Gibson Explorer. Im not sure of the age. It has 22 frets (all usable) and string through body. The neck is wide but very thin, resulting in excellent action. It appears to have a hole for a tremelo (whammy bar), but a standard bar doesnt fit.) This guitar has two Duncan style Humbuckers, a three way switch, and a volume and tone control.

For a solid body guitar, it has a tremendous range of sound, from raunchy lead to fat and mellow. I play it through a Peavey 212 Stereo Chorus & Fender Frontman amp, various FX pedals and also a Roland GP-16.

I bought this guitar used from a stranger who really didnt know anything about it at all. I have no idea of its age, or that Takamine even made solid body guitars. It has some paint chips and the selector switch needs cleaning or replacement, but it is very tight overall, and the pickups are excellent. The action is amazing. It has the same light touch 'buttery' feel as a 60's Mosrite or Baldwin electric.

I have been playing on and off for 35 years. Also have a '68 Gibson 335, Amer. Standard Strat, Amer. Standard Fat Tele, 66 Harmony (USA) Electric, 60's Goya 12 string acoustic, Alvarez acoustic, early 70's Ibanez Classical. I chose this guitar because solid Takamine's are rare, but I am very pleased with everything about this guitar.
