Beautiful finish, smart and simple. Simple pickup system with a dynamic range. Nice cutaway for easy access to higher register.

Sounds very bright with the Spruce top maybe sometimes a little too bright sometimes lacks warmth. A very immediate sound and very LOUD! A fantastic neck easy to play (Main reason of my purchase).
Would have given a higher rating for the sound but the pick up let it down as it was too bright and thin and sometimes on the harsh side. This can be rectified by rolling off the treble.

I have been playing for more than 20 years and play in various bands and studios mainly with my electrics. I was looking for a good acoustic sound without plugging it in as I have some decent studio mics that can capture the pure sound of the guitar. I was aware that if I spent that little more I could have got a 314ce which had a better balance pick up system but as I have spent over ??1000 on decent valve mics I thought I would go for the 214ce.
I am happy with sound of the 214ce if you will plug it in a lot I suggest you save your money and go for a 314ce as the pick ups our better and perhaps not so bright.

First off I work over seas and bought this guitar not having had the oppurtunity to play it first. Sound...this is where the whole deal went south for me. Great looking guitar...but it sounded flat and cheap. Coated strings maybe? I had high hopes for this guitar but I have played far better sounding acoustics for a third of the price. I returned this and am now awaiting the arrival of my Martin HD-28.

Action:
The action was what I would describe as medium and easy to play. This guitar did well here.
Fit:
The guitar was beautiful. Fine craftsmenship was evident. The only knock here was a wadd of glue right at the edge of the sound hole. Taylor makes a fine instrument.
Finish:
Other than the glue wadd the guitar was flawless...I actually hated to pack it up and return it but for me its about the sound...for some odd reason the sound just was not there for me. I would encourage ohters to try this guitar for yourself and it is well built and may be fine to your ears.

Again I would encourage you to try this guitar if you are in the market for a well made affordable acoustic. Its really a nice guitar for the money. I strongly encourage you to PLAY it first to hear for yourself. Your ears may hear something mine didnt.

This is why I bought it, it has the best action of any of the guitars I tried including highend Gibsons and Martins. I can play lead as well as any electric. More forgiving than a Stratocaster.
