Called Taylor- they said it was made in '81, by "T.L.", initials on the label besides Bob's signature.. Spruce top. Flamey maple sides and back. Ebony fretboard. ?Mahogany neck. Gold hardware. Florentine cutaway. After-market piezo. Abalone inlaid soundhole and string pegs. Bird? leaf? inlays on frets. Not the top of the line, but not the bottom either, as far as "features". Usual Taylor case.

This is the last acoustic guitar I buy. Soul-satisfying bass, smooth sustain in the treble. Action simply allows better playing than any CFM I've played. Don't care for that "bluegrass" get-up-and-go of a CFM. Have not heard or played Larrivee, Olsen, Santa Cruz, etc.

Perfect. Few nicks for a 17 y/o guitar (!).

We'll see, but it's survived 17 years and it looks and plays this good...

Been playing for 27 years. This is the first guitar I've played, you know, that you immediately KNOW, 'I am done looking'. I don't know what it is, but it fits me perfectly (I like a darker sound in guitars anyhow, e.g., mahogany, to an extent). And it's loud enough. It's loud period. It'll do bluegrass if you want it to. Currently I don't do blugrass. Mostly blues/folk rock/acoustic alternative-bent stuff. If you have the means, I highly recommend it.
