I got this in a trade for a Mint Martin HD-35.

This was a special ordered 1989 815C with Electronics (E).
The Florentine cutaway and Fishman pickup were special ordered and thus this guitar preceded the production of the 815CE by four years.

It is a fine example of a "Closet Classic" as it apparently had never been played....zero dings, scratches or marks...Shaller tuners goldplated in "as new" condition.
The set up and all about this guitar is perfect. Gorgeous to look at, hold and play. Responsive pickup without adjustments

Sound : 10
I play standards, Folk and Jazz and it is the perfect compliment for me. Mellow sounding, great bass..but not overpowering...nice balance.

I can find no flaws to dislike.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
As it wasn't touched in nearly 19 years...and still plays so well, the factory set up was right on the money.

My one slight criticism is the plastic nut.

Bob Taylor hit a "home run" with this guitar.

Reliability/Durability : 10
As it has no conditions to report...and wasn't humidified all these years....and is still perfect only cmment is this is "as good as it gets"

Customer Support : 10
I called up Taylor customer service and was greeted by a human being...no litany of menu buttons to push, everyone was very courteous....the best!

Overall Rating : 10
I hav ebeen played 48 plus years...Mostly have owned top line instruments...I presently own three 12 string guitars..one custom made Brazilian rosewood. Two gibsons (1955 ES 125 ...my first guitar)
Gibson CL-30 Deluxe. Gibson L-5 ...a 1968 Yamaha FG 230 (12 string)plus many others .

I just love the look and feel of this guitar...and the vibrations through my body when I play it.

I was fortunate to find this gem...it's a keeper.

If it were stolen, it obviously would be irreplaceable.

Beautiful Guitar. A 2005 Model special ordered - Beautiful Guitar. Indian Rosewood back and sides. Engleman Spruce top - with gloss finish. Neck is thin and easy to use. Ivory fretboard with abalone inlays. Abalone trim around the body of guitar.

Sound : 10
This guitar has a rich full sound, with a little extra bass - making it stand out among other "twangy" guitars. This guitar has the best sound I've ever heard out of an acoustic. Great for strumming - great for finger picking as well.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Action was set perfectly. No flaws that I could see whatsoever.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Completely durable and reliable. I use it for live playing all the time and it has always suited me well. Hardware is awesome - gold tuners with black pegs.

Customer Support : 10
Support is awesome. Only needed to call them once about a guitar strap and about getting their newsletter/magazine, but they were awesome to deal with. High class when it comes to customer service.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for over 10 years. I use only elixir strings on this guitar....love them. I prefer the Phosphor Bronze Nanoweb, however, the Polyweb's do last a long time.

I've played Martins, Ibanez, Takamine and Gibson, but none of them come close to the tone and feel of this guitar. Taylor's in general are top notch in my opinion.
