Baby Taylor BT1
Typical solid top
Nice gig bag

Sound : 9
I bought this for my 8 year old daughter who wanted to learn to play acoustic guitar. She has played piano for one year and has a good ear. I let her select between a Fender (forget the model, but 3/4 size) a 3/4 Martin, and this guitar. She quickly picked the Taylor and...WOW, what a nice sound for a little guitar. Yes, the bass end is light, but what do you expect from a 3/4 guitar?

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Out of the shop (Guitar Center MN) it was set very nicely. Smooth action, with no glitches. Beautiful guitar.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Being in Minnesota, solid top guitars are a pain in the ass. The guitar is solid, but we have to remember to keep 'er humidified in our lousy dry winters.
Everything else is confidence inspiring.

I have played for over 10 years, at least 8 being a noodler. Most of my time has been spent on my Charvel Model 4. In setting my daughter up with this guitar, I was immediately impressed with the solid build, quality, and overall outstanding sound from a 3/4 guitar. For over 3 months, I dug around looking for a guitar for a standard stature 8 year old girl with poor results. This Baby Taylor exceeded my expectation in both sound and quality. You truly DO get what you pay for.
