Satin back/sides, gloss top. GS body style, chrome tuners, medium thickness neck, updated ES system(powered by 9volt battery. Solid top. No frills on this guitar, but with the Tasmanian Blackwood back/sides it has a simple elegance.
Sound

Well balanced sound; GS body style produces more bass, yet not overly so. ALWAYS buy at least a gloss top. Reason? When amplified, a gloss finish eliminates unwanted sounds from your playing arm, especially with the ES system. A satin finish picks up everything to the touch.

Perfect setup. This guitar has terrific action and ease of playability. The ES system, however was defective from the start(unwanted popping, crackling sounds with no warning). Had preamp replaced under warranty and have had no problems since. ES system seems a bit noiser at high gain compared to LR Baggs Element, which is very quiet. 9volt battery a plus for longer life. No defects in finish, Taylor's quality control is very consistent.
The sound of the ES is very natural and pleasing when compared to undersaddle P/U systems.
Very lightweight; beautifully bookmatched top.
Reliability/Durability

A great stage guitar; not so sure about the long term reliability of the ES system. The hardware will last. This was a limited edition model designed for those who could not afford a $2300+GS model.

Taylor Customer service has always been good to me; I don't know, though, if I would buy a Taylor with the ES system without a warranty. The warranty was needed right off the bat for the repair of the ES system.

Been playing 25+ years; Taylors are known for their balanced tone and low action; this model is no exception.
If I bought again I would buy a GS all gloss finish--but this one was $1000+ less than the all gloss models and worth it.
My favorite features are the sound and the low action.
