This is a Japanese-made acoustic. It has a solid spruce top, with laminated rosewood back and sides. The neck and bridge are ebony. The finish is in high-gloss, but it is not thick and plastick-like. Tuners are gold plated and very high quality. The most striking feature of this guitar are its inlays -- it looks just like a Martin D-45. Pearl surrounds just about every edge on the guitar. This version is from 1979.

Sound : 9
This Tarada sounds beautiful. Keep in mind, though, that it has aged for almost 20 years. To my ears, it has the perfect bluegrass sound- nice balanced tone, destinct (but not too strong) bass, and smooth highs. However, it sound versitile enough for just about any acoustic music. Best of all -- no "wolfy" guitars sounds.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
This guitar is 19 years old, so factory setup is unknown. However, the store I bought it from set it up beautifully. Fit an finish are great. Bookmatching is flawless, and binding/pearl work is magnificient (better than some newer guitars I have seen).

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar is built well enough to withstand live playing. It has already neen around 19 years, so I don't think it will fall apart any time soon. Although the quality is great, I never gig without a backup (even with quality gear). The finiish looks brand new.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Out of warranty, and the company is probabl;y out of business.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for 8 or so years. I had about $500 to spend on a used acoustic, and this one blew everything away. If it were stolen or lost, I would buy another in the same condition (if I could find one). I love its sound and loks.
