This Vantage VST33CE/TBL is the best sounding thinline cutaway I have ever played! Everything about this guitar screams quality, from the tuners to the frets! The only low end piece on this guitar is the electronics (3-band eq and volume with a battery indicator light and button). 20 thin frets, Rosewood fingerboard. Seems like it is a solid top, there is no way a guitar this thin (less than 3 inches) could have such a full sound without it being solid. Gotoh type tuners with the Vantage logo on them and they are every bit as good as Grovers or Gotoh. I am not sure of the woods used on the top, back and sides but the finish is pure satin transparent with an aqua color that is just beautiful. I read somewhere that these were made between 89' and 95' (the label under Vantage says "Sound by Design" and Hand Crafted in Korea. Please correct me if I am wrong, I would love to learn more about this guitar and the company. I have been playing guitar for 27 years and I wouldn't trade this for ANY guitar. I paid $180.00 for it from a pawn shop and would have gladly paid a cool grand for it. If there is anyone who can give me more info on this particular model I would greatly appreciate it!

Amazing sound for a thinline cutaway. If you heard and played it you would be astonished at how full and rich the tone is. Even top to bottom. I use Ernie Ball Super Slinky Acoustic strings (11-15-22-30-42-52). Great sounding but not long lasting (the only drawback to these strings), fortunately they are a pretty inexpensive set of strings. I've had Fender's, Yamaha's, Alvarez' (my personal favorite other than this Vantage), a Conn (vintage and absolutely beautiful), 2 Takamine's and others, this guitar sounds fuller, brighter and more even in tone than all of them and like I said this guitar is only 2 and 13/16 inches thick!

It plays like a $2000.00 American Fender Strat. The only thing I did to this guitar after I bought it was a setup which included a light sanding of the bridge and a quarter turn to loosen the truss rod (had a ever so slight concave bow). Nothing else other than polish, strings and a battery for the electronics. For being at least 13 years old (somewhere between 13 and 19 years old) it is SWEET. There is one thing I forgot that I did to it. I didn't notice it when I bought it, but the bottom back of the lower bout and the bottom side had a slight seperation (as if someone had dropped it) I lighly glued and pressed it.. Fixed it with just a minor blemish that you could only see if you knew where to look.

This guitar is solid. The finish still looks like it is brand new, Hardware looks new... I have played it for both rythym and lead, Frets are holding up awesome, very little wear, great quality. Totally dependable guitar! And yes I would gig with this guitar with no backup.. not a problem there... Wish they would make more of this style guitar of this quality...

Vantage was sold to Sound by Design and went out of business sometime in the early to mid 90's... If you can tell me anything about this guitar I would love to hear it... Anything !!!!

I've been playing for 27 years (also a recording buff) with too much gear to name, wouldn't trade it for anything, would be crushed if it were stolen, love everything about it (only wish it had better electronics). I am comparing this guitar to every other acoustic guitar I own and have owned, everyone of my friends acoustic guitars and every other acoustic I have played... I would buy this guitar (for my style and likes) before I would buy anything else for any price.??
