I went to the internet and studied up on guitars because I am a short woman with small hands. I was looking to graduate from a 3/4 size guitar to a full size guitar, however, I have a hard time with the necks on full size guitars. They are just too wide for me.
One thing that caught my eye on the Walden guitars with the new, narrow neck style. The narrow neck is just right for me. I also bought the grand auditorim style because I have trouble getting my arm around the dreadnaught style guitars and playing comfortably.
The neck was the real selling point for me. I'm sure there are a lot of people out there with average size hands that would benefit from the necks on these guitars. Also purchased this guitar for the solid wood construction. It has a solid red cedar top with Waldens own custom satin finish. The guitar was constructed in China but I find the craftsmanship to be excellent. I think the designer is Jonathan Lee who resides here in the USA. This is an acoustic guitar that I purchased with a hardshell case and humidifier included in the purchase price. I am very happy with the guitar. It has an elegant, understated beauty.

I don't know as how I have a particular music style. I like classical alot but this guitar does it all. It has wonderful, resonating, rich sound. It makes my other 2 guitars (a Washburn and a Yamaha) sound muffled.

So far I haven't found any flaws in this guitar. It was manufactured in China but the workmanship is outstanding. It is solid wood with x bracing. No finish flaws, hardware is bright and shiny. The rosette is inlaid wood and beautiful.

I think this guitar will last a long time. I think it will stand by itself in a classical concert or doing a live gig at a bar.

Haven't had it long enough to get anything repaired. I think it has a lifetime warrenty. E-mailed the company owners to tell them how much I liked it and got a friendly reply right back.

I have only been playing a couple of years. I am 52 years old and wanted to learn how to play the guitar because me and my four sisters sing as a group and we needed some accompliment besides piano and string bass. If this guitar was lost or stolen, I would replace it with another Walden guitar. I might get one of the grand auditorium styles with a pickguard. I guess my favorite feature is the neck width but it is really a pretty guitar.

This is a pure finger-style guitar -forget chords - but for finger-style, it is phenomenal.I was initially disappointed with the sound when the guitar arrived (I bought it,unseen, based purely on the recording which I had heard by Michael Mucklow on Walden's website which sold it to me -something I have never done before in 25 years of playing)but as soon as I changed the strings, the sound leapt out of it. The cedar top gives the guitar a really sweet voice and the mahogany produces a lovely but controlled bass. I'm giving this a 9 only because I'm sure there are better sounding finger-picking guitars out there, but you will have to pay 3 times the price to get one.Listen to the Michael Mucklow track - there's virtually no processing of the sound and it really sings.

Set up was perfect, really easy to play and the finish is flawless. You would be forgiven for thinking that the guitar was hand-made judging by its finish. I did manage to make some marks on the bridge when pulling the pins out to change strings, so the wood is a little softer than I had expected.

Having only had the guitar for a month, it's too early to say but judging from its construction and finish,I have no reason to believe that it won't last for years.

I've had no need to contact Customer Support, though I did mail Walden about changing the strings which they use to ship their guitars with as they do not do their instuments justice, and I received a comprehensive and prompt reply from their Chief Executive -very impressive.

I have owned this guitar for about seven months. I think it is a 2006 model. I bought it used, in excellent condition. Like the other guitars in the Walden line-up, this one is ???Designed in the USA??? and ???Made in China???.
The G2070 is a grand auditorium style body, solid red cedar top, solid African mahogany back, sides, and neck. This guitar has a longer, 25.6??? scale. The Walden guitars website says the slim neck (which is straight as an arrow) is reinforced with carbon graphite rails. Their website also specifies wood binding, rosette, and end pins. It has a very nice looking faceted bridge; it looks like rosewood to me, but the Walden website says it is ebony (maybe earlier models had rosewood?). It has a bone nut and fully compensated bone saddle. It does not have a pick guard, which is a plus in my opinion. It???s not a strummer.
It came with a Walden guitar case, one of the nicest looking hardshell cases I have seen (granted it???s not a $300 or $400 flight case).

I play instrumental fingerstyle --a mixture of folk, classical, new age, etc. I thought I was a spruce man until I bought this guitar. I have owned and played other guitars with solid cedar tops. Some of them sounded good, but not as good as this one. It is loud and clear as a bell without sacrificing warmth and fullness. Quite a combination. It also has excellent string-to-string balance, with solid bass and a good combination of clarity and sparkle in the treble. One of my tests for a steel-string guitar is whether it can pass muster on some simple classical pieces. In my experience, most steel-string guitars don???t have the balance and dynamics to do a decent job rendering classical style music. This one does very well indeed.

In my judgment, the materials and workmanship are excellent. The action and intonation could hardly be better. Tuning is very smooth for all six strings. I like the look of the ???tortoise??? tuner buttons (though I assume they are plastic). The satin nitrocellulose lacquer finish is beautiful, but delicate. The compensation work on the bone saddle is impressive.
This guitar has a bolt-on neck, though you would never know unless you looked inside at the neck block. It is my understanding that Taylors and some other higher end guitars use this approach now. Speaking of inside, even the interior of this guitar looks great. I like the thoughtful placement of the label ???off center instead of pasted right over the brace along the center of the back.
The only thing I might change about this guitar is the width of the fingerboard. The neck is 1.75 inches at the nut. I prefer the width of the fingerboard on my Seagull, which is slightly wider than the Walden. I won???t buy an acoustic guitar that has a neck any narrower than 1.75 inches.

I play solo fingerstyle in small venues, such as coffee shops and the occasional church or banquet room. I have had no trouble at all with this guitar. It seems very solid and stable. As previously stated, the satin nitrocellulose finish is a bit delicate, so durability may be an issue. However, I am an adult and I handle it carefully.

I have been playing for over 25 years, and have owned, examined, and played many acoustic guitars, including Seagulls, Yamahas, Martins, Taylors, many others. I also do set-ups and limited repairs for friends and students. I have tried to write an objective, careful review without being gushy. That being said, I just haven???t seen a better value in an acoustic guitar. The street price for this model appears to be around $500 new. I have no doubt that one could spend a few thousand on a custom made guitar that would best it. However, I have never seen a guitar of this quality in this price range. It boggles the mind. For my taste, this is a beautiful guitar with superior aesthetic lines and proportions. It gives me a feeling of quality and all-is-rightness similar to my old Mercedes 240D. (Of course, the Walden isn???t old and it isn???t bulletproof.) It???s hard to believe it was made in China.

Great sounding guitar. If I was going to choose a guitar for just fingerstyling on an album, I would choose this over my Epiphone Masterbilt.

Ranks right up there with the Guild Gad 30, Epiphone Masterbilt and Blueridge 160. Since this guitar is lesser known than the ones I mentioned, you probably can find a great deal somewhere. If you manage to find one that is in excellent used shape or new for under 500.00, jump on it. You will not regret it. Guitars I own: Larrivee L-09, Epiphone Masterbilt, Larrivee L-03.....too numerous to mention them all. Too embarrassing as well. I'm a guitar addict. Just one more guitar and that will satisfy my addiction......okay.......maybe two...three at the most......

All solid wood grand auditorium with solid cedar top and solid mahogany back and sides (2006 model). Bought it in July of 2006 and sold it this past December (only to be able to afford a more expensive guitar). Made in China though you wouldn't know it from playing one. Nut width is 1.75 inches. No pickguard (I added a clear one that I ordered from Larrivee). Thin (front to back), bolt-on neck with rosewood fingerboard. Bone nut and compensated saddle. Tortoise-shell looking tuners which hold the thing in tune like there's no tomorrow. Satin finish. Came with a very good hardshell case and a humidifier. I give it a 9 in this category because it's a very simple-looking guitar.

I play mostly fingerstyle (acoustic blues and songs a la Tommy Emmanuel, Pete Huttlinger, Stephen Bennett, Woody Mann) and this is very well suited to fingerpicking. The sound is wonderful. The guitar projects well and is very warm. Great sustain. The G2070 intonates very well up the neck, too. This guitar also strums and flatpicks very well. A great, all-around guitar.

This thing came set up perfectly from the factory. Low action and no buzzing whatsoever. No flaws. The folks at Walden certainly know how to make a great guitar. I give it a 9 in this category because of the finish. The satin finish adds a lot to the wonderful sound of the guitar but this might be one area where Walden is cutting corners. I had a Larrivee with a satin finish that was as tough as nails. My fingernails rubbed across the top a few times during some of the songs I play and I noticed light scratch marks in the finish. I had to squint to see them but they were there. This doesn't take away from playability but for someone who taps or raps their guitar (in the style of Michael Hedges, for example) expect to get marks on it very easily.

The hardware and construction seem very durable. The strap button was solid. I haven't played it live but I'm sure it would hold up. All around a dependable guitar but, again, the finish seems as if it'll be the first thing to go since it's applied so thinly.

I've been playing over 25 years, mostly fingerstyle the last 13 years or so. I now own a Martin SWOMGT and a Johnson J0-26 and have owned Larrivees, Epiphones and Yamahas. I also used to own a G2070 but I sold it to get a Martin. Now I wish I had it again (nothing against the Martin or the Johnson but I do miss that warm sound and great projection). The best things the G2070 have going for it are its sound and its playability. Wonderful action all the way up the neck. I just wish it had a more durable satin finish. It's also a very light weight guitar. I would highly recommend getting one especially as a great entry-level fingerstyle guitar.

Very warm and articulate. Suits my style well, since I mostly play fingerstyle. It has a nice thumpy bottom to it and a good amount of sparkle with nice harmonics and overtones which can only be experienced with Cedar topped guitars. It is a tad soft if you are used to playing a Sitka top, you may take some time to get warmed up to it, but it has a sweet voice and it is quite an inspiring sound. Somewhere between a Taylor and a Larrivee for tone. Good string balance and very even. Very well intonated up the neck. If it didn't have a little note on the inside sticker, I would not have quessed it was built in China.

Superb satin finish (nitrocellulose) and excellent setup from the factory. Only time I have had as good a factory setup is on my Taylor and Larrivee. Very well cut nut and saddle (bone, NOT plastic) nice strait neck

Seems very well built. I don't expect "China Syndrome" (what I call everything made in China that seems to break within 20 minutes after you open the package) to happen to this guitar.

In 20 years playing, I have owned just about every major (and minor) acoutic guitar around and this is right up there with the best of them. As I said, the tone is about like a Larrivee mixed with Taylor. Larrivees tend to have a very flat response without being to boomy or sparkly adn the Taylors have a very pronounced high end shimmer. Walden seems to be a sleeper in the market. If you get a chance to play one, you should. I don't know how consistant they are, since I have only played one, but I liked it enough to buy it.
