Solid Cedar Top. Nice tight grained Cedar and Blissfully shy of aany type of Polyurethane or polyester finish that'll never open up and age! Yeah! A nice satin finish well applied and airy open sound.
Laminate mahogany wood in a grand concert body. More akin to a Taylor than a Martin.Like My Walden the sound of this guitar is like it is "eager" to get out of the guitar. It springs out loud and true.
Rosewood fingerboard and Mahogany neck. Gotoh tuners and "Bic Plastic" bridge and saddle and bridge pins. Nice frets tho there could be a bit more attention paid to the dressing of the frets. Some of mine were not polished when I got it.
No electronics and that is always good
A nice gig bag but I would prefer to see a case. Even if it were the run of the mill black case with the gray lininng. It is still better for cold climates any way you slice it.
Once cool thing is the "winter Saddle" ! What a great addition to a guitar. Those who live with cold snowy winters know how guitars dry out and low action gets too low. Also a Planet Waves Humidifier. another nice touch to help you maintian your guitar.
Kind of a C neck but perhaps a bit beefier... Very comfortable neck. The factory set up is stellar and consistent. another nice touch is the single ply pickguard. It doesn't hinder the sound.

Sound : No Opinion
Nice warm mellow mahogany sound comes from this guitar. Very woody and natural. It has a chimy resonant tone that is so sweet to the ears. Great for fingerstyle and or strumming, it handles it all very well.
For a laminate body this has a big sound and open airy tone straight away and that is a testimony to the people who build and designed these. They take care aand pay attention to details. Look inside it is all very clean and well made. Must have some sort of GD&T going on to manage such a tidy guitar. The workmanship is far above most guitars in the price range. ANd the price is unblievable for what you get. These people have me as a new found fan and devotee. I bought this guitar for a student of mine. She was playing an old Olympia parlour guitar.... Her face when she strummed the first chord was beyond words. I wish I had had my camera. She plays constantly now. I own a G730 that I can't put down. I wrote a review on that model too.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Action on this guitar was a bit on the high side. Unlike my G730... But it took very little work to get it under control What I like is the way the saddle is so snug in it's slot on the bridge. really nice. It adds tone and sustain.
The fit and finish has been mentioned above... It's so good. Much better than anything in it's class. And this is all high class.
On every model of Walden guitar I have seen no flaws or bad workmanship. It has all been very consistent and rock solid. I swear I cannot say that about Martin or Gibson. Now obviously I am not comparing... But I wonn't mind putting a Waden up against most anything. This G570 beats the pants off of any Washburn, Epiphone Cort, Or annhing else you might name. Certainly beats the hell out of Blueridge! With their high prices and Polyurethane coat. And supressed tone.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I am immediately comfortable with any type reliability ratings this guitar has been owned by my student for almost three months and there has been no issues whatsoever.

Customer Support : 10
I have had nothing but great service and response from this companny. They are nice and polite and answer quickly and are willng to make sure you are treated well and takenn care of. Honest and forthright too. all too rare these days!

Overall Rating : 10
As a beginner guitar to my mind the Walden G570 is as hard to beat as ny. It has bare bones styling yet very tasteful and with all of the professional qualities put into this instrument there should be a very long time between guitars.Fun to play light and lively and easy on the fingers I recommend Walden guitars to all who come to me for an acoustic. Bar none. IT is my first and only choice for acoustic guitars.
I played Guilds for years and I have owned Gibsons and Guild and other high end brands. No guitar has caught my fancy like these.I have used these for recording in studio and found it easy to mic and easy to play for long periods of time. Very well balanced. ANd all I can say is if you are looking for an inexpensive gitar but not cheap.. this is your guitar. you will be amazed by the tone projection and quality of the G570. And you'll love it more in the years to come as it will improve a lot more than poly coated guitars costing much more.

Body Shape: Grand Auditorium (Left Handed)
Top Material: Solid Western Red Cedar
Back Material: Sapele Mahogany
Side Material: Sapele Mahogany
Neck Material: Mahogany
Nothing fancy here, tuners are quality and stay in tune. No on-board electronics, simple black binding, Rosewood bridge and fingerboard.
No bells and whistles on this guitar, and thank God for it. Features are sparse but quality.

Sound : 10
I've always been a flat picker, but wanting to venture into some finger style, so I decided on the G570L. No doubt this was the best $250 ever spent. The sound is rich and warm, sustain is great and projection is way more than I expected. Being a lefty there is little chance to test drive before buying so I crossed my fingers and ordered on-line. I find this guitar performs and sounds great flat picked or fingered.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Action, fit and finish were decent when it arrived. For me the the action was a bit high, but I have trouble with my thumbs so I need a little lower set-up. But it was an easy fix for me and I changed out the factory stings with Dean Markley Vintage Bronze Lights. The frets were polished and everything was put together well.

Reliability/Durability : 8
This guitar is solid, well constructed, I'd take it on any stage (if I was actually good enough to be on stage). I judge tuners on their ability to stay in tune, and these tuners stay put. Finish is decent, will it wear off with lots of playing? yeah most likely, hope I live long enough to accomplish it. Just one strap button at on the lower bout, it was a bit loose (my only complaint). This guitar is dependable, I take it everywhere.

I've been playing seriously now for 5 years. I've owned this guitar for the last two years. This is a great guitar to propel me into more advanced playing. My other guitar is a Washburn D10SCELH dreadnought, which is a nice guitar as well. For me I really like the Grand Auditorium body of the Walden. It's much more comfortable to play, and the sound of this guitar is really special. I'm glad that Walden hasn't forgot about the left handed players out there, I hope they expand their left handed line-up in the future and it would be nice if other manufactures would follow suit.

This guitar comes with a solid Western Red Cedar Top, Sapele Mahogany back and sides. Its neck is solid mahogany and the fingerboard is solid rosewood.

It has a two way adjustable truss rod for fine tuning the already spot on manufacturer's settings.

It has a Satin Nitrocellulose Lacquer finish to keep its wonderful tone intact, as paint or heavier gloss coatings can absorb some of the sound, where as the satin finish is smooth and will vibrate with the soundboard.

They do provide a humidifier free of charge with the guitar to help you keep it in great shape.

there is no pick ups, onboard EQ or any other sort of features. Aside from its materials, it is a plain jane acoustic (Which is not necessarily a bad thing in this case)

Comes with a gig bag, but i would recommend a hard case for this guitar.

Sound : 10
Wow, just wow. I was looking for an acoustic at a reasonable price, but never thought I'd find a sound like this. It was a warm and well rounded tone with a strong presence and decent sustain.

With a pick, it sounds sharp and crisp, but finger picked, it is rounded and warm to the very core.

Its sound is what makes this guitar a true gem.

The body shape is Grand Auditorium which gives it some really nice mid frequencies without drowning out the highs, and the bass just rolls out like it should.

In just a few hours of getting it, i played with a capo and different tunings to find its full range of tones. With a drop D tuning (Droped 1/2 step), the open low D comes out like rolling thunder, deep and resonant.

The volume at a good level for recreational play. But i don't gig so i couldn't tell you how it stacks up on stage.

All in all, i really, honestly can't find a fault with its sound, it is truly a 1000.00 sound at 300.00 or less.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The action is low with no fret buzz straight from the factory. The fit seems very reasonable with no loose parts or flaws of any kind, and I have not fully inspected every square inch of the guitar, but the finish is smooth and well done.

It is a well made guitar, but there are probably some flaws that i have missed, or that other guitars in the same series might have (IE a small bubble in the finish, or a loose pick guard).

Overall, the guitar series is well made and well set-up at the factory.

Reliability/Durability : 6
The guitar seems to be well made and i would rely on it.

The strap button is solid but I tend to stay seated while playing an acoustic.

The finish is a satin finish so you must be careful and use the correct cleaning products if you wish to keep the finish in good condition.

Cedar, however is a soft wood and care must be taken to keep it free from dents. Also I am a little reserved about trying a slightly higher tuning on this guitar because of the Cedar, as I fear the top might start to bow. Other then that I have no fear this guitar will last me quite some time.

Customer Support : 6
I have not dealt with walden customer support so i can't comment on it. however it does have a life time warranty.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing guitar avidly for about 5 years now. I have only owned electrics and preferred them since they had better playability. This guitar however is incredibly easy to play and feels just right.

I fell in love with its sound and I will never regret this purchase. It is a shining example that the old saying, "you get what you pay for" does not always apply. If it were lost or stolen, i'd get another one the same day.

This is by no stretch of the imagination the best sounding or easiest guitar to play, or even the best of anything out of every acoustic guitar.

It is however a wonderful guitar in its own right and is a high quality guitar made for entry level players, or those that just can't afford a higher end guitar.

I paid 300.00 but felt like walked away with a 1000.00 guitar.

I bought this guitar from Gorilla Guitars in Columbus Georgia. Great guitar shop!

The features are very plain but I usually don't go for flashy guitars.

Sound : 10
All of the notes are very definitive. I put light phosphor bronze strings on the guitar and the sound really jumped out. It seems to have a very warm sound. It sounds better than many other cedar top guitars that I tried.

Natural "satin" finish ctaway dreadnaught with black and creme binding.
Solid spruce top. Fishman 3 band preamp / Eq.
mahogany body and neck. Japanese sealed tuners.
Dual trussrod system.
Came new with nice padded gigbag and humidifier. Lifetime guarantee.
I believe the body was made in China then everything was assembled in Canada.

I went into my longtime trusted acoustic guitar dealer to purchase a pickup system for installation in my 1970 Martin D-35 ( $200 + installed ) He steered me to one of several new Waldens on the wall as an alternative to installing a pricey pickup system on my Martin and sacrificing it's integity as a vintage instrument. I've got to tell You, I was impressed!!! Pluged into a mediocre amp it sounded alive, full and and balanced! Unplugged, well it doesn't sound quite as good as my Martin but it does sound very good, articulate and resonant!Playability was well- amazing for such a low priced instrument! Guitar was perfectly intonated, low action and no "dead spots". Vety fun and inspriarional to play!A real kick! Nice medium neck with a good feel. Preamp and pickup ( internal ) is well.. a Fishman- -Superb!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
before making the inevitable impulsive purchase I played and looked at several of the Waldens on the wall and honestly could not find any noticable flaws. Fit and finish were pretty much pristine!! They look great and more expensive than they really are.Close grained spruce, nice grain to mahogany - great binding work and attention to detail.
Even on the insaide. Plays wonderfully!very solid FEEL!

Reliability/Durability : 1
Seems well made - have to be careful with the solid top - that's why they give You a humidifier. Dual action trussrod is a nice feature too. I think this would make a fine front line instrument and would serve well as a backup - particularly if you don't want to haul your $2000 Vintage baby to the bar! Time will tell. Lifetime waranty!!

Customer Support : No Opinion
Lifetime waranty - no issues yet.

I've got two Taylors, several vintage Gibsons, Yamahas and about 100 other new vintage guitars and basses and have been playing for close to 30 years both live and in the studio! I restore vintage instruments on occassion. I got to tell You - This thing - for the price just floored me. I played it all weekend long unplugged. Phenomenal! we are currently recording an album in astudio in a "marginal " neighborhood. We will be tracking with this inexpensive beauty there for sure.

Standard G570 with solid cedar top and saepel back and sides. Came with a Walden gig bag.

Sound : 10
I play everything from country to classic rock. This guitar sounds great on everything. Since
the lower bout is just 1/2 inch shy of a dreadnaught, it has good volumn. The cedar top
gives it a warm sound with clear bass and treble. Action from the factory was dead on. low,
without any buzz.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Action is great, the only fit/finish issues are one brace that has some shavings, and the edge
of the pick guard was loose.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I don't play live, so that's N/A. The hardware seems durable. The finish is nitrocellulose, and
I understand that the cedar is a bit more delicate than spruce. Overall, I would rely on it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
N/A so far.

I've been playing 35 yrs. I have Ovation, Alvarez, and Epiphone. If it were stolen, I'd replace it.
I love the sound and action of it.

* Solid Cedar top with Satin finish
* Laminated Mahogany Back & Sides
* Low Profile Neck with 1 11/16" Nut
* Padded Gig Bag included

Sound : 9
The Solid Cedar Top is what makes this guitar work for me. I tried the Spuce Top version prior to selecting this one. The Cedar sound works for me it has "Warmer" character in comparison. If the store did not have this Cedar Top model in stock I would have made a purchase that day.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The action from the factory was a little high for me, considering I play without a pick. The shop (Nicholson's Music in Folsom, Ca.) did a full "Set-up" for me at the time of purchase at no additional charge. This shop gives great customer service and personal attention. The fit and finish is very good and it plays well.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Appears to have good build quality. I don't gig, just play at home for myself. The size makes it more comfortable than playing a Dred for me. Have been playing it daily for 3 months with no problems and the tuners hold well. No complaints!

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have not had to contact them.

Overall Rating : 9
I like this guitar for the Cedar Top and the sound it produces. I'm a beginner adult returning to playing after a number of years off. I've owned a few other guitars in the past, some of which sell for 3-4 times the cost of this one. I can say that the Walden Guitar line represents a true value in its category. I have nothing but good things to say about this guitar. If I could change anything with it I would like it to have 1 3/4" Nut. That feature is only available on the upper-end models at this time. If you have an opportunity to try one and or buy one of these guitars do it!

2004 probably. Solid cedar top and mahogany laminate body. Has a non-glossy nitrocellulose lacquer finsih. Lacquer is supposed to 'open up' more over time. Only time will tell I guess. Don't let rubber touch a lacquered finish guitar though, I know that much. It's a Grand Auditorium body style. The lower bout is a tad wider than Walden's dreadnought I think, but with the narrower waist and not being quite as deep as a dreadnought, it's easier to hold than a dreadnought I think. Tuners seem fine, came w/a nice gig bag that has a strong chemical smell that took a couple of weeks to air out.

Sound : 10
This guitar is very balanced and louder than what I'd expect a cedar topped guitar to be. The big body really lets the bass roll without being boomy or anything. I've taken it to a couple of local jams and people like to try it because I guess they're not easy to find. I got mine by ordering it. This isn't the benchmark of acoustic guitar tones but for it's price range, ~$275, it shouldn't be either. It could be the benchmark for ~ $275 guitars.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
It had some kind of white dust pretty much all over it. Perhaps that was from either sanding the finish or maybe the saddle? I don't know. The wood is pretty. The finish has a tiny spot here, a little bubble there, etc. You have to look to find them; it's nothing big or serious. It's hard to find a 'perfect' finish on a guitar for under $500 or so anyway, so I'm not displeased or shocked or anything. For the most part it's good.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I gues you always have to be more careful with a cedar top, so I'll take that into account. Once when leaving for a jam I had the guitar in the gig bag and I clobbered a table with it. A very loud 'clunk' was heard, but I couldn't even find where the guitar hit the table. So, I guess it's durable. Glad it was in the gig bag.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Have not dealt with them.

Overall Rating : 10
A very good guitar for the money, I'm very happy with it. If it were lost or stolen I would get another one in a heartbeat. I have a few other acoustics by Taylor, Seagull, Washburn, and some others. This one has a nice place in my collection.

Walden G570, new model, solid, non-laminated top Western Red Cedar top and Sapele mahogany back and sides

Sound : 10
AMAZING. Just totally awesome. In my opinion, it outperforms any acoustic i have ever played. Its so LOUD and rich. It sounds great for just about any style you can play on an acoustic. The tone is just excellent. But don't buy this if you have pesky neighbors or parents, cause this is LOUD. Great for campfire playing. This guitar can be heard by everyone without amplification in just about every situation under 100 people.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The action on this thing is so low, i can't believe it. And no fret buzz at all! Excellent playability and action. Great assembly, i couldn't find any flaws in the make of the guitar. Walden did a great job!

Reliability/Durability : 10
Great guitar, very solid construction. Seems like it could withstand some hard knocks. Strap button is in good. I would use it without a backup 100%

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with 'em.

Overall Rating : 10
Its not sleek, flashy, or cool IMO. They left it unfinished and unpainted because (the guy i bought it from said) it makes it a lot louder and much richer. Paint absorbs sound, he said. This guitar is living proof of that concept. Truly an amazing guitar, the best i've ever played in my 4 yrs of experience. Go out and get one TODAY. Walden knows their stuff.

This is a 2004 model with 20 frets, 14 to the body. It's an OM size guitar with solid ceader top, laminated mahogany back and sides, solid mahogany neck, rosewood fretboard with black binding and plastic dot markers. The peghead has a dark veneer. Bridge is rosewood with plastic, compensated insert and plastic pins. The nut is plastic as is the pickguard. The finish is satin nitrocellulose laquer.

Sound : 10
I really like the sound of this guitar. I do mostly fingerpicking stuff with folk flavor and it's just right. It's got that "cedar tone" that I like, warm and mellow with good mids. This was, of course, the reason I bought it. It's plenty loud for me, but I don't gig, so it just has to fill my living room. The sound is full to my ears, but it doesn't boom like a dreadnought (nor should it).

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I like the setup as it came from the shop. It's not real low but also not sky high. I haven't had to do a thing to it. Fit annd finish are superb for a guitar in this price range. The rosewood on the fingerboard and bridge was very dry when I first got it, but a little lemon oil fixed that right up. I suspect this was because it was on display in the shop for some time before I bought it. I really am impressed with the finish. It's very light and the guitar doesn't feel "plasticky" like others in this price range that have a heavy polyurethane finish.

Reliability/Durability : 5
I haven't had the guitar that long, so I can't really say. It feels like it will hold up fine under normal wear and tear. It doen't feel flimsy or fragile, but the finish is very thin. This is a good thing tone-wise, but it may detract from the durability. Time will tell.

Customer Support : 5
I haven't had to deal with the manufacturer directly. It did not come with a warranty card, but I suspect that it's the standard one year.

Overall Rating : 10
I love this guitar! I was looking for a good quality non-dreadnought with a cedar top at a reasonable price and that's exactly what I got. When I began shopping, I was surprised at how few guitars there were to choose from that had the features I wanted in my price range. There were plenty of choices higher up on the price scale, but nothing down where I have to buy. This was the only one that came close to what I wanted. I would buy this guitar again in a heartbeat. Thanks, Walden!

As for me, I've been playing on and off for 20 years. I've owned all kinds of gear from Stella acoustics to high-end Stratocasters (is that an oxymoron?).
