It's a cheap, overseas dreadnought with a satin nitrocellulose finish that's so thin, I have a hard time figuring out if there's any finish on it at all, though I appreciate the fact that it doesn't have a polyurethane finish. The binding on the fretboard seems cheap, as you can't tell how well the fret-job really is. Mine doesn't come with a pickup, so no bother there.

Sound : 4
It sounded like a trebly mess when I first got it, mostly because of the crappy strings. I put on a set of Pure Nickel John Pearse and it's loads better, but the bass definition really isn't there. The rhythm sound is really muddy. My laminated 70s Yamaha FG sounds really clear and defined, in comparison???even though the neck needs a reset, but it's not worth it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
Slightly high action, which is better than being too low like most modern acoustics. The finish is kind of a joke???but we'll see how nicely the nitrocellulose ages. I'm not a finish expert, but it's hardly even there. Satin does feel nice, I'll give it that.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
It'll probably crap out in a year. Who knows?

I nice guitar to not worry about. I'm still trying to break it in, especially the new strings I slapped on it. For the price, it's hard to beat as a beginner guitar, or something to have lying around for writing purposes.

Sound : 10
Sound is warm and beautiful, the sustain is lasting and haunting. my style is classical. Use a Fender Acousticsonic 30 amp and other times i use no amp at all. The electronics are not noisy, but very quiet. The sound can be Rich, Full, Bright, or Loud depending on your mood. I love the finish and the feel of the guitar (and i have played a wide variety of brand names). No real dislikes except for the jack which is located at the center bottom which can get in the way ( i play sitting down w/ a footrest).

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Guitar needed a few adjustments for my style of play, otherwise it was fine. The olny flaw was with the finish by the bridge, there was a slight run noticeable when you hold the guitar to the light.

Reliability/Durability : 10
i have used this guitar for one live performance and it came through like a champ. The hardware is beautiful and ver functional. The finish seems very durable and i do not expect any troubles with it. No strap bottons. Yes i feel i can depend on it. no need for a back-up.

Customer Support : No Opinion

i have been playing off and on about 30yrs. i also own a new alvares all solid wood MC90ce classical and my pride and joy is my Tamura (which my father bought for me in 1970.,the guitar was made in 1968 and is signed by the Tamura brothers). Before buying the Walden i did much research on the net and countless trips to music stores till i really feel in love with the sound and feel of this guitar. If it were stolen tomorrow i would not give a sencond thought, I defently would purchase this guitar again. I love the sound and feel of the guitar. I have owned it for about 3months and the more i play it the more beautiful the sound. I hate the placement of the cord jack, it keeps hitting my knees at times. The on-board fishman classic 4 pre-amp is also a perfect match for this guitar. i compared it to takamine's, yamaha's, ibeaz, martin, cordoba, and one or two Ramirez. i guess the price and the sound plus the feel of this guitar sold me (i never heard of this guitar so i did a lot or reserach on the company and the guitars they sell). i wish it would have come with a nice hardshell case. I know all instruments are not for all musicians, but this i know this guitar is for me. thanks
