Classical acoustic with a cedar top and rosewood fingerboard. The satin finish is beautiful, but I've already managed to scuff it up a bit and the fingerboard seems to mark up fairly easily. I bought it new in the early part of 06, but it had a good amount of dust on it so I have no idea how long it was in the shop. It came with a nice gig bag with a humidifier. There's no peg for a strap but only one of the other classicals I looked at had it, and I looked at a lot.

This guitar sounds beautiful. I get a really rich, full sound when I need it but I can back up and play nice background too. I play everything, from folk to acoustic covers of metal and it sounds great no matter what. I have a friend who uses a steel stringed Yammie and he prefers to play mine. I liked the sound over every other acoustic I tried, steel or nylon. It gets a slight buzzing at times, but I don't know if that's the guitar or the player.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
I didn't have any problems with anything. The shop put new strings on it before I left.

Reliability/Durability : 10
It seems to be holding up against my abuse. The satin finish is getting a shine on the neck and frets, but that's to be expected. I play a solid hour and a half to three hours every day, and I have yet to have a problem. I seem to have to tune it every other day, but I have to do that with all of my guitars (I have three, and they're all classical) so I'm thinking it's just a nylon string thing.

Never had to deal with it.

Overall Rating : 10
I love this guitar. I've been playing for about 3 years and it's by far my favorite. I would definatly buy this guitar again is it was stolen. This was by far the nicest guitar in the pricerange I was looking at. I didn't want to spend more than 300 and I paid about 200 for it. I had to ask the clerk if it was the right tag, it was stacking up against the 500 models I was toying with. It would have been nice to have a peg on it, but that's an easy enough fix.

Classical guitar with solid western cedar top, torres-style fan bracing, sapele back and sides (laminate), and rosewood fretboard. The guitar is finished in a satin nitrocellulose finish, something you rarely find in guitar in this price range. The walden has a truss rod. This allows the manufacturer to make a thinner neck. Good tuners. One thing I've learned in playing classical guitars is that you spend more time tuning than steel strings, so tuners are important. The label says made in china, designed in th U.S.

This is my second classical guitar. My first is an old yamaha G65-A with laminate top. I've played guitar for a couple of years, but I'm new to classical guitars. I bought a Yamaha G65A a few months back, and got hooked on classical guitars - fingerpicking country blues, jazz and classical music. I tried 20 or so beginner level guitars with solid tops around town and wasn't thrilled with what I found. I spotted this guitar on ebay and rolled the dice. I wasn't disappointed. The Walden sounds as sweet as yamaha, but has added sustain and response because of the cedar top. The volume is good. The sound is muddier than the yamaha. I'd like to try a Walden with spruce top. I'd expect it to be brighter. Still, I like the sound, and, for the price,I can live with it until I get good enough (if ever) to move up to the next level of guitar.

The guitar was advertised on ebay as used once by a music store in a NAMM display, so it came to me in new condition. The action is good, and there is room to lower it at the bridge if someone wanted to. I find the action just right. Intonation was good, but not perfect. I can't spot any flaws in the finish.

Seems solid to me. Time will tell.

I took a chance on a guitar I'd never played, and have no regrets. I paid $175.00 (including shipping) for a new guitar with a solid top. That's a good deal in my book. New this guitar retails for around $300.00, but they are not easy to find around my town. They are mostly sold in Europe and Australia. My second choice would have been a Yamaha CG151 or 171 for double the price. It's a beginner level guitar, so my rating in this category is based on the quality of other guitars in this category. From the reviews I've read, Walden makes good guitars at affordable prices. I own a Seagull S6, and the Godin family of guitars has this in common with Walden. There both makers of good guitars at fair price.
