Model: D100M / TWR. I am guessing the build date from the serial number to be 1991, I am rating this Guitar with consideration of the price paid. Standard Drednaught Body, It looks like it may be a solid - Top as the grain runs straight through the wood at the sound hole. It has a Rosewood Fretboard (w/pearloid Dots) and a Rosewood Bridge, white bridge pins and strap peg with black dots, Antiqued white Bound Body and Neck, 16/20 Frets, Gold Grover tuners.

I play anything from Light Jazz to Acoustic Rock, finger picking and flat picking and this Guitar is: Loud, Rich/Sweet yet Bright and very well ballanced sound. If this baby mellows in with age. I can only dream of what it might sound like...
The ONLY thing I did'nt care for was the Cheap, White Plastic endpins and strap peg but, they all come that way these days. I switched over to Custom Groved Solid Wood End Pins and A matching Strap peg. I feel that the Wood pins allow a better/truer sound transfer from the strings and brings out the best in any acoustic.

This Guitar was tuned right out of the box with a very nice action (I like a lower action for Jazzy stuff). And oddly a really NICE neck (closer to an electric style, not THICK)reminds me of an Ibanez Acoustic I had once at 4 times the cost. Any way, I tune my D17CE/WR down a 1/2 step to suite my vocal range and like the richer tone and I use a Capo if needed. This Guitar had such a sweet action, that when I tried to tune a 1/2 step down it caused excessive fret buz. I will have to tweak the neck if I want to tune down. Nice glossy/even finish, it seems the inlay down the back, butt and around the soundhole may be real wood as it has a texure to it (and an interesting design as well, they don't seem to be decals.

Ok, I bought this Guitar to be my take along Acoustic (Camping, Parks, etc) Inexpensive, decent quality (I figured and it is)I could only hope for Washburn quallity... I feel, that's what I got. I remember my first Acoustic (back in 70/71) had a neck like a freakin' 2X4 and tone that was Flaaaaaaaaat. I would have killed for a Guitar like this then, and at THIS price... It does feel a tad light/nimble in respect to my D17CE/WR, but since I take the best of care of all my equipment, as long as it doesn't start cracking or the bridg pulls up or it starts turning green or some thing strange... I hope it lasts for years and mellows in and will be passed down to my grandkids.

I have owned 4 Washburns, two D17CE one a/BR and my /WR I own now (around 1000.00), I currently have a black/white Oscar Schmidt OE30 "335 Style" (Another winner story) and this D100M/TWR. I have owned and I have yet to require help from Washburn

I have played Guitars (I prefer Acoustics) since the age 13, I am now 46. Was my 1st and truest love for sure. I have played Pro years ago but is now just a personal hobby for me. I know quallity, I know what I like, I am pickey to a fault about my Guitars so, that being said. This Guitar rates a 9+ for playabillity, sound, looks and overall value. This is what a first or backup guitar should be... It's worth 3-4 times the price I paid... I don't care where this one was made, it sounds great, plays great and looks great. I would replace it if it were damaged or stolen... hey - Chin up, but not yur nose! Buy SMART... Gibsons are WAY over-priced and over rated!

Took it in the "Martin room" at now defunct Mars. It was LOUD.
For flatop pickin' it sounds well balanced. Compare it with boxes 10 times the price. This is too good to be true. If you can find one of these for sale, GET IT! PAY A PREMIUM if you have to. Mine still (like all new guitars) thinks it's still a tree. This puppy should REALLY have tone in a few years. Don't put off buying a guitar because you think it has to cost $1000-plus to be really good, but one of these before they start going up. These were only made for Mars so you can't get a new one.

Typical excellent made Pacific-rim guitar. Hand made may be nice but it really doesn't beat CNC machine made.

Hols tune very well. Good tuners. Just right finish, but possibly a tad too thick which makes it more durable.

Been plucking strings for 40+ years now, though I would have to say I play around WITH a guitar as opposed to saying I PLAY guitar.

I belive this was made in 2001/02 but not sure. As the first reviewed said, I also bought it from Mars for $139 in May of 2002. I travel to Kansas City on a weekly basis and have an Apt. so I bought this little beauty to keep me out of trouble. For the price, this is an outstanding guitar! I also own an Alvarez-Yairi DY-52 (Spruce & Rosewood) but I'd match the tone note for note.

I am amazed with the tone of this all mahagoney bodied guitar. I look forward to the end of the day when I hear the deep bass resonance and the crisp upper tones. I pick mostly flat-pick music but also like the occasional rock/country/head-banger (just kidding) and it fits in very well. I met another picker with a Taylor 410 and he went out and bought one just after a short jam session. He said this one would go along to festivals better than his expensive Taylor.

The strings are a little high but I haven't even had it setup yet. The tone is just find and the action is acceptable for what I need. I'll probably take this one to Winfield and leave my Yairi at home (too much theft at festivals anyway) It will make the trip just fine and drown out the competition. The finish is a hard-gloss which makes it a little more durable and the mahagoney wood just glows. While at Mars I tried out the Martin D15 which had it's own little room. Awesome sound! Then I took my Washburn in the same room and Wow, the comparison was so close!

Seems like a very durable little machine. The fretboard may reveal the first chinks in the armor as I've noticed a couple scratches from digging the strings in. Other than that, it's solid

Haven't dealt with Washburn but I also own a Washburn Mando which has been so solid and high quality that I've not needed to talk with them.

Playing for 30 years, owned Gibsons, Hohners, Yairis, Epiphones, and Washburns. Play through a Fendor AccoustaSonic Amp. with almost-surroundsound. Before I bought this guitar, I'd wished I'd had enough to buy the Martin D15. Now I'm happy that I was a smart shopper! I don't hate anything about it. I love the deep resonance and bright tone.

The same as the D10 except it has gold tuners and a mahogany top. All my reviews are based on a price/value ratio. In other words, if the quality is high compared to price I give it a higher rating than say I would give a $1000+ Martin that is expected to be superb at that price.
Mars Music has an exclusive on the D100M

This guitar sounds FANTASTIC. Never heard anything better except for a Martin. The sound of all the strings are balanced and it has that rich sound of a Mahogany top. Sustain is excellent and true. All strings sustain equally and the pitch does not waver.

The strings are a little bit higher than I like (I prefer the action on Ovations)but since I use it primarily for finger picking or open strumming it is ok. I plan to replace the saddle and lower the action.

Washburn has been around since 1883 but I don't know about this guitar since I have had it for less than a month.

Excellent value for the money. Usually these guitars sell for $169 at Mars but the salesman gave me $30 off. I love Mars. They are great to deal with.
