My father gave this guitar to me as a birthday gift, in 2005.
This is an entry level, laminated top (spruce) dreadnought made in Korea in 1997. Satin finish, Grover tuners, in-built pickup with passive tone controls.
No strap buttons.
Came with a gig bag, an allen key, a cable, and some plectrums.
Giving this an 8 because I think that this is a pretty decent set of features for an entry level guitar.
Sound
:
5
This guitar is bass heavy. The treble sounds very thin compared to the bass.
Plugged in, the guitar sounds pretty decent, but the tone controls are basically useless.
At the time I got the guitar, I was learning, and had been playing for barely a year. I could not say what style this guitar would be best suited for.
I am giving this a 5 because the sound is not something to write homwe about.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:
8
The action was very high when I got it. It was almost unplayable, though I tried very hard for a long time. Got the action fixed, and now it plays like a charm.
No buzzes, finish is very good, cannot find any flaws in terms of fit and finish.
Except for the action, which was quite easily remedied, the guitar is built beautifully.
Reliability/Durability
:

This guitar is built like a rock - it will last. The hardware, the finish, etc. will take a lot of beating.
I don't gig, but if I did, I would probably have a backup, no matter what.

Never dealt with Washburn.
Overall Rating
:
5
I have been playing for a little under 3 years. In the last 8 months, I have acquired an all solid wood Alvarez guitar which I love, and an Ibanez electric guitar (reviews posted).
Comparing this guitar to the other acoustic I own (the Alvarez), it does not sound even remotely as good. But the guitar is quite good for an entry level guitar, and is built very well.
If this guitar was lost or stolen, I would look for a better guitar.
