Info on these guitars is sparse but I'm assuming that the back and sides are laminated. There is a Masterworks model that is solid wood and much more expensive
I bought this guitar on sale in the UK before moving back to Canada

Sound : 10
Yairi calls this a blues guitar. When I first played it I couldn't decide wether I liked it or not, but after 5 minutes I fell in love. It sounds a lot bigger than it looks but it's far from a dreadnought sound. Very rich in harmonics and overtones, it has a beautiful woody tone that complements both strumming and fingerpicking. In a group of dreatnoughts or jumbos it might struggle but on it's own it's probably the nicest guitar I've palyed.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
The finish is a beautiful gloss that almost looks wet!
The construction is flawless. Apparently the bulk of the construction is done by hand. A maximum of 4 luthiers will ever work on your guitar. Masterworks guitars are built by a single luthier. This guitar is tiny and light as a feather. Super fun to play.

Reliability/Durability : 9
So far no problems. It's a very well built guitar and the finish looks like it's pretty tough. It's super light but it doesn't come across as delicate.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for about 30 years and have done some professional work. I've played all sorts including Guild, Taylor, Martin, and Santa Cruz. This guitar is definitely in the same class. I had never heard of Yairi before I picked up this guitar but I ended up buying it the same day. Finding out about all the attention to detail that went into the construction of this guitar was just a bonus. I play this guitar daily and even after 10 months I still find it hard to put down sometimes. Open chords have such an amazing tone and resonance that I don't think I'll ever tire of it. You'll never find another quality handmade guitar at such a good price. Yairi guitars are excellent value.
