The guitar is a natural top, solid sitka spruce. It is a jumbo, yes, a jumbo guitar, and sounds like it, more so than the sister CJ-12, CJ-818SB or CJ-818. The tuners are chrome, the neck is a good, fat jumbo round neck, with abalone block inlays. The guitar has the abalone soundhole and a great look to it. It was made in 1982 in Taiwan. I can't say enough about how cool this guitar looks.

This is where it shines. Lets just say, I brough this into the guitar center where i live and started to play different guitars. the only guitar i could find that truly stood out from this was a vintage gibson j-200 going for roughly 7000. i mean, if i'm beat out by a 40 year old, 7000 guitar, then so be it! i'm ok with that!

action is low and smooth. i replace the saddle and nut with tusq and it just sounds awesome with elixir nanoweb light strings.

this sucker is heavy. it can take a fall. probably the heaviest guitar i own. it came with a yamaha original hard case and a brown strap. the finish is perfect. no checking, no cracks, just a few small indentations which is perfectly fine for me. if a guitar doesn't have some play wear, what good is it?

Yamaha's site is awesome for getting guitar SN's figured out. the reps have been great as well.

for 700 bucks, i got a guitar that to me is worth 3 times that amount. if you find one, buy it. you won't be dissapointed.
