Essentially the same features you are reading in other reviews here. Stock guitar, from a kit. I was looking for a guitar with a laminated top that would be (fairly) immune from the vagaries of humidity that plague my house. I have to keep my other two axes (Guild D55 and Yamaha FG750S) in cases with HumiPaks and sometimes I just need to grab a guitar and play something quick.
Sound

With stock strings, its pretty flat. Likely due to tonewoods and the laminated top. This baby needs some heavier artillery to drive the top and I have found by trial and error that D'Addario Bluegrass (Heavy bottoms, .012 top E) work well. Actually, the sound is pretty amazing for a $125 guitar. I had to take it to a party once and someone across the room who is a fellow guitarist came over looking to try my new Martin!

Its a Yamaha. The quality control on their instruments is high. Also, they specialize in building high quality, sub-$600 guitars, so you don't get the disparity in build as you would experience in, say, Epiphone (look at a Masterbuilt and compare it to an AJ -- then compare a Yamaha FG750S to an FG 125). Nice low action.

I've had it for about 18 months and the tuners are loosening a bit (I change tunings a lot) so I may put in some Grover clones (I don't want to put too much into the instrument). Also, I had an extra set of Planet Waves ebony bridge pins around which I added and I am sure that has helped with the sound.

Hmmm. If lost/stolen I'd likely pick up another.
For its price point, I think it's the best cheapo acoustic you are going to get for $125.
Other acoustic instruments: Guild D55, Yamaha FG750S. Electric: Lite Ash Tele, Epi Dot Studio, Agile 3100LP, SX Tele, SX Strat.

bought the f325 from sam ash 2 years ago. came with the accessory kit. guitar itself is good but plain like most acoustics

sounds good. i never really had an acoustic of my own, but often played a borrowed guild. well, the yamaha is no guild, but i really have no complaints about it
Action, Fit, & Finish

i took a long break from playing. i almost exclusively played electric back in the day, and sold off all my equipment exept one les paul. i had no amp, and when my kids showed an interest in music, i decided i would lead them down the road of acoustics. i like the sound of this guitar, and even the neck, while thick, is playable. i do not like the action of this guitar as much as i thought i would. it is high, and not really being an acoustic person, dont know if that adjustment could be made or if thats just acoustics in general

stays in tune well, finish looks good after 2 years. well made and solid

Dreadnought body style (F series), 6-string, natural color, 41??? total length, 16??? at bridge, 25 1/2??? scale, 4 1/2??? depth, laminated spruce top, meranti back and side, nato neck, rosewood fingerboard and bridge, gloss finish, die-cast chrome machine heads, plastic end pin. The stock unit came with a set of light strings. This unit is a part of ???Yamaha Standard Gigmaker???, along with a gigbag, an electronic tuner, 3 picks, a strap, a set of string replacement, and a DVD. I got this from Musician Friend for $149.99 free shipping, an incredible bargain even for a beginner. I???d give a solid 8 for the guitar, but the accessories really turned me off. So 7/10.
Sound

As an Indonesian, I???m really intrigued to hear the sound of ???meranti??? wood. I bought this unit mostly because of curiosity of the product of my own country, and fortunately, I am not disappointed.
I was expecting flat-ass sound, but it turns out to be OK. It???s very heavy on the treble and not enough bass for my taste. I don???t know whether it is because of the light strings or the meranti wood. Perhaps if I upgrade the strings to heavier ones, I can get the kind of sound that I like. But for now, I???ll stick with the stock strings. Tuning is easy, and it stays in tune ever since. I???m quite satisfied. 8/10
Action, Fit, & Finish

Well, this is a bargain guitar, so I don???t expect first-class craftsmanship. The finish is nice although rather excessive in some parts (visible in globs of polyurethane at the heel). The action is OK. The body is a full-size dreadnought, but the fingerboard is too narrow, and I can???t put two fingers next to each other in some places (like playing D chord in the 2nd position). I had a hard time fingerpicking, and even for strumming power chord I don???t have enough space for my fingers. And I???m only 5???7???, 175 lbs. I can???t imagine bigger musicians playing this guitar. 7/10.

The built looks durable enough, and can withstand some abuse. The strap button is made from plastic, but it sure does the job. But I won't use it as my primary gig instrument. I may take it as the backup. I don't know how durable the finish is, only time will tell. 7/10

I called Yamaha, and the receptionist was utterly unmotivated to answer me. She just transferred me to ???somebody that can assist you???, and had me wait for 15 minutes. 3/10.

For a starter, this is more than a rookie can hope for. The sound is above average, and I???ve read reviews about putting D???addario or Elixir strings into this guitar and it turned into a really nice instrument. I???ll definitely consider it.
The accessories are acceptable except for the electronic tuner that never worked. The gigbag is not padded, but I won???t use it to gig anyway, so it is fine for me. The strap is cheap-o, and the headstock strap is sharp metal, so be careful when you strap it, or buy a better one. The picks are nice, but the manufacturer put 3 identical picks in the package. I wish they put 3 different picks, light to heavy. The package comes with a hex key to adjust the neck, a welcomed feature not mentioned anywhere. And I have been playing for 21 years, I never care to watch the DVD. I hope it is as informative as other reviewers mentioned.
If it gets stolen or broken, I???ll buy a new one in an instance, probably upgrading it to ???Deluxe??? series. Yamaha surely knows how to make music instruments. It???s not Gibson or Martin, but I???ve seen poorer quality guitars with higher price than this. So if you really need a starting point, this is definitely the way to go. 7/10.
