Dreadnought, satin finish, slim neck made in 2005 in China. Solid spruce top, laminated nato sides and back, not sure what the neck is made of. Looks great.

Astounding sound, like I have never heard before. Nice even tone across the range, not too bassy, lovely mid tones and "singing" highs. Quite loud volume. Responds to all your nuances and little touches.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The action is a little high for my liking so I might have it professonally set up (I find it is usually worth the cost). The finish is impeccible, as one comes to expect from Yamaha. The neck is very playable, the best I've experienced so far. A great guitar for finger picking or chords, it's a real pleasure to play. Keeps in tune well.
Reliability/Durability

Because of the matt finish you have to treat it a little more carefully than the 700 S which is varnished. One plastic strap button at base, seems OK. Having said that it is beautifully built and looks the part. I would say that this guitar has "personality".

I've been playing about 30 years on and off, I've had a few acoustics and so far this is my favourite - it's a real gem. There is nothing I dislike about it, I'm really glad I bought it. I wouldn't hesitate in buying another if somebody pinched it. My favourite aspect of this guitar is the beautiful sound, it's incredible, very sweeet. I can't believe I only paid 100 pounds for it.
