This is a very new model Yamaha acoustic 6 string. It is a standard dreadnaught body dimension wise. made with a solid spruce top, mahogany neck, Laminated Rosewood back and sides. It is finsihed in a very excellently done gloss lacquer, not to thick but just enough to let the top and back and sides breathe. The fit and finish is truely second to none in it's price point and considerable farther up the price scale. The VCS stands for Vintage Cherry Sunburst. It's a 24 9/16ths scale. 20 frets joined at the body at the 14th fret. No cutaway, no electronics. The neck is a non stained natural satin finished mahogany. Very smooth and fast playing. The tuners are unbranded but I'm assuming there Yamaha's or Schaller designed. 18:1 ratio and gold plated.

It suits my style which is a tiny bit of everything. It has a stonrg projection with a deep tight bass response and sweet midrange tone. The highs are smooth and not harsh. Since it's brand new the top needs to open up and breathe and that will take some time and good old fashioned playing. It is a tiny bit boxy sounding at this point but once that top opens up I'm believeing it's going to get a lot better. But my instincts tell me that it will respond to these factors in a very nice way. It is built to last a lifetime. The build quality is really very nice.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The guitar did need a bit of a set up. The truss rod was adjusted perfect but the bridge saddle had to be shaved down about 3/32ths to get the action so it was more comfortable to play. That was about all and I changed out the factory lousy strings to Dean markley Alchemy's 11-52. Now the top on my model is bookmatched so closely that I really had to examine it very close to find the seam. It's there but you really have to look for it. Beautiful job on that issue. The cream vintage binding is very nice and excellently applied front and back of the rosewood body and the MOP rosette inlay around the sound hole was incredibly well done. Yamaha's craftsmanship is top notch. The headstock has a very nice rosewood veneer with YAMAHA and a sort of Flor-delay inlaid in MOP as well and once again very well done.

This guitar is built like I said before to last a lifetime. No doubt. Hardware is very good. If properly taken care of like anyone should, the finish should last longer than the owner. I'm going to depend on it so I would assume most players could. I won't be gigging with it, I'm too old for that now. (58) But it will get played every day for sure.

It comes with a limited lifetime warranty when you buy it brand new. Never dealt with Yamaha before and don't expect to with the way this on is built.

I have been playing for well over 45 years. I have owned many acoustic and electric guitars , way too many to list here. From high end Gibson's, Fenders, Guilds to Agile's, Sx's,Teradads, and Yamahas.
If it mwere lost or stolen at this point I'd go get another one just like it. I compared it to many different other Yamahas, Fenders, Takamines,Epiphones,Ibanez,Ovation. All in the 300.00 to 1000.00 price range. This one just kept calling my name even as I was playing so many others. I just kept going back to this particular one. There 4 others of the same model and color but this one just had the " Mojo".
