It is satin finished, solid sitka spruce top with laminated nato neck, back and sides. It is made in China, not a jumbo but actually a dreadnought, with grover-like tuners. 20 frets, rosewood fretboard and bridge, with no built-in electronics.

I listen to different genres of music, from folk, indie music to rock, punk to metal. And this guitar have no problem nailing every kind of sounds I want. The guitar provide a full, sweet sound and is wonderful for flatpicking and fingerstyle. The top vibrates really well. One thing I noticed is that the guitar sounds better with time.

A set of .011 is put on the guitar and I wasn't used to that really. I believe the action could be set lower for better playability, but so far I haven't got the urge to lower the action yet, maybe because I have accustomed to it already. The finish is done really well, I particularly like the back and sides or the guitar where you can see the grains of the wood shining against the light. The neck feels great too, because of the satin finish it has a more worn in kind of feel. The frets are perfectly placed, no extruding fret ends, no fret buzzes. Fretboard is smooth, pickguard is beautiful, binding is done great too. The tuners are good, sometimes they do run out of tune but it's really minor you might not notice it. I think overall the guitar is constructed very well. Might change the nut though.

I haven't use it live, and don't think I will be because of the lack of onboard pickups. But I wouldn't worry about it's reliability. I have another cheaper Yamaha acoustic for 4 years and now it still play and looks great. There are many other players that can testify on these.

I have been playing for 5 years, a proud owner of a Gibson Les Paul, but also have a cheap China made SX Tele copy that is fantastic and another Indonesian made Yamaha F310, a laminated top acoustic which is my first guitar. I bought the guitar used for three months, and it still look awesome to this day. Truth be told I never played a high end acoustic before so I can't compare them but I can assure you it is a very well made guitar that is too good for its price. Try one today whenever you can find it.

2005 Made in China.
Solid Sidka Spruce top,
Nato back & sides
Very well set up (the guys at Sound Control, Bristol (UK) put new strings on and all for me)

Very versatile
Thin plectrum gives nice trebly sound, and is not thin sounding
thicker plectrum yields full bassier sound.
Suitable for both strumming and picking and fingerpicking.

Had already been in sound control 2 weeks, and some mucky fingered players had messed strings up and the neck was slightly bent,
but the store corrected that and changed strings for free,
finish is nice natural matt finish with attractive pickguard and details.

Solid top, entry level acoustic from Yamaha. Sealed tuners, black binding around top and back. well made for budget guitar. Cheap list price and good deal avaliable from PIEDOG, don't worry about mail order guitars, came well set up and delivery within the window given.

Good acoustic reasonable projection when strummed even responce across strings, set up low action with 10's from factory so easy to play, neck played well with no buzz. Has a nice mid-toppy sound with enough bass but not boomy. For the price you will struggle to find a beter sounding and built guitar

Plays well out of box, low action, light gauge acoustic strings with wound D. satin finish very well applied except for very small blemish near lower neck shoulder only noticed when polished top with beeswax polish. Nice looking piece of spruce for top with no obvious defects. Binding is neat and tidy and internal cavity has no gross glue lines. Very well made budget guitar.

Satin finish will stain more readily than a gloss finish, but arguably will make for cool aged look? Don't know mine is only 2 days old. One niggle is the lack of a strap pin at the neck end, but I'll probably use schaller strap loks anyway. would definitely buy another if lost/stolen etc... Don't normally play acoustic, bit of an electric geek, but can't complain cheap, and like Ronseal, does what it says on the tin...

I play all styles of acoustic guitar, I just wanted a cheapie to stay in my studio for students. This guitar has an amazing tone with rich deep but not boomy lows and plenty of sparkly highs. String response is very even and sustain is excellent.

The guitar arrived from a German Cyberstore not in tune of course but with the truss rod correctly adjusted and a good action. Top and back are bookmatched, and everything i.e. bridge, tuners, nut properly placed. The tuners are very solid. Fretting is outstanding, and intonation is 100% ! The top is coarse grained and not that atractive, and is very pale due to lack of finish, but is definately solid and will mellow both in sound and colour in time.

I have no doubt that this guitar will last due to it's strong construction and good materials.

I've played for 40 years, have a small Takamine for stage use and a 80's Tokai Strat which I have refretted and re-wound the dire pickups, I've a Yamaha RBX bass and have just now ordered a Yamaha Pacifica 812V. I recently got suckered into a new Fender Highway 1 Tele which was just awful, and even Fender told me that none of the components were genuine USA but that's another story. Guitarist must wake up - big names don't mean big quality! The independents must produce very high quality to get a market share against the traditional names. Yamaha know this and it seems like their ethic goes throughout their range - even the budget ones. Terrific for the money!
