what i like the most on this guitar is the satin neck;it feels nice and smooth and doesn't feel cheap at all. i also? like the tuners, this guitar stays in tune for a very looong time, realy.

I went shopping with the intention to have a midrangeprice standard dreadnought but when I went testing this guitar in the local music store, the cheapest I tested out of five guitars was this yamaha and it just sounded SO great, unbelievable! a verry rich tone. I started picking and it sounded really well, very bright and clear, i was already a bit impressed by this beauty but when I started strumming hard enough the guitar started vibrating to my body and fill the space with a beautiful loud, warm sound.thats the main reason why I chose this one

I loved the finish very much, (i have the brown sunburst), it's nice painted on good quality wood and the nato back and sindes are also beautiful, it's glossy and well finished with the bindings, I also love the small dot inlays on the neck and the neck binding! the action wasn't that good, it was to low when i bought it but the intonation was perfect

I can depend on this guitar more than on my girlfriend, it feels like my yamaha can last forever (if its handled with care)
I play in a rockband and we gig a lot, for the acoustic songs i pick this one without having any spare guitars with me, i know i can trust it. i can't say if the finish will last forever because i have this one only about half a year now but i think that if the guitar is a little worn it will only look even better

An absolutely wonderfull sound, much better than any other guitar of that price range. A very full sound and you can play in a very large place without any amplification.

When I bought mine I took the one that was on show because it sounded better than any of the brand new ones, it had a little scratch but it's the price to pay for the best sound. An otherwise fantastic finish.

The satin on the neck wore out after about a year and the strap button fell out (which is no big deal) otherwise no problems and I think it will last.

I bought this guitar from KraftMusic.com for $299 (shipped) and it came with a stand, gig bag, DVD, strings, Ernie Ball polish kit, string winder and picks.
I own the Dusk Sun Red and at first I was worried about what it looks like because some of the pictures make it look a bit too intense. Then when it finally arrived I opened it and was amazed. Truly a beautiful guitar and looks great on a stand in my room. Could be a conversation piece in your living room if you wanted.
As far as other features it's a bit larger than most of the Martins and Taylors out there. The neck feels just right, smooth and mature - with the fret board being good quality but I recommend a good polish before playing because mine seemed like it was bit dried out on the shelf.
Chrome tuners, solid spruce top, rosewood. Very good quality construction for the price (Yamahas are really like the Acura/Hondas of the guitar industry).

This is where the guitar really excels. I tested a number of high-end guitars at Guitar Center and although they have great tone and that "boom" most people look for in the lows, the FG-720s can really hang with the best of them.
Really bright on the highs with a good range of bass in the lower strings. It really has a "boom" that you would expect from something priced twice as much. By far this is my favorite guitar (I also own an FG-700s and an Epiphone SG G-310).
**PUT A SET OF DR PHOSPHOR BRONZE AND YOU HAVE THE SOUND OF A $1,000 GUITAR**

The action is pretty standard for entry-level guitars. Not too high but it's not as low as a Martin. Definitely manageable for the beginner/intermeditae player. With softer strings like DR lights (don't use the stock strings because they're pretty weak) it's easy to play.
The only problem I found was when I changed the strings the first time the bridge saddle just fell out. I know that parts are meant to be interchangeable but it kind of sucks that if just fell out as opposed to having to loosen it first. Stays in tune fairly well (need to re-tune 1 time every 2 weeks, playing 1-2 hours a day).

This guitar will definitely last for years to come. Yamahas are known for their great build quality for the price (though it's not perfect). I see myself playing it for at least 10-15 years.
Finish is great and the tuners stay in place. If taken care of properly with polishing and fret cleaning I don't see why it wouldn't last 15-20 years.

I would absolutely recommend this guitar to a friend. It's treated as a mid-level beginner guitar, but with th right strings and proper care you have a poor man's Martin without a doubt.
It will only get better with age!

Flawless. Glossy, beautiful. Back looks like a 3D postcard or something. Never seen anything like it in any price range of guitar.
The neck feels like a $3000 model. Honestly.
Intonation perfectly on the mark. Woodwork and blue work has no errors at all.

This guitar's built to last. I'd depend on it to do gigs with no backup.
The smooth precise winders keep is in tune and the fret dressing is superb, right from the shipping box. My hat's off to Yamaha!
Best value in low-end guitar. The beat everyone else for looks, sound, style and bang for the dollar.

Been playing for years, and was looking for a gigging guitar that look spectacular, played well, sounded great and would keep the mileage low on my other top-end guitars. This triumphed on all counts!
If lost, I'd get another.
My favorite features are the incredible red-brown sunburst, the easy fretboard and that shimmering signature Yamaha sound.

This one look's really great, someone could find the color combination of sunburst looks "chip" or old-fashioned, but when you bring it home you understand that it's absolutely false..
The fingerboard is fantastic for this price. Seems like yamaha takes in from their l-series with a mistake. You know, at first i decided to bought an expensive guitar, something like l-series or anything else for 1000$ or higher. And i spend several weeks to play on every guitar in my city (i live in S-Petersburg, Russia) from 200$ to 2000$. Yes, for the price of 2000$ there was some exellent guitars such as washburn, l-series or takamine. But finally i have found FG720 for 300$ and immediately bought it to my learner, who asked me to find him a guitar for this price. After plaing on that guitar for a week i bought at the same shop the same one for me. Ofcause guitars are very different, my one sounds deeper at all frequencyes, but at first it have some problems witn tune. (???? ??????????????) It was a risk, but after a visit to the gutar-maker (Sandovsky - now the strings are placed in 2 or 3 millimeters abouve the fingerboard, now you feel like you're playing on elecrtic! Thanks to the straight neck) and changing old strings to Elixir I got really great guitar and that was all right with the tune now! The last upgrade you need to do with this guitar is changing the pins to more expensive.

This sound is something outstanding for this price. Sounds at least for 2000$ - it's true! Bright, deep, warm - any epithets! If you start playing at morning you could stop only at evening or later, surely. I must say a few words about flageolets - you could easely pick it from the first position on six string (Elixir's really great strings). Sustein is amazing, really, you feel any vibration, it makes your body vibrate with the guitar body. It brings you the same feelings, that really famous and expensive guitars does!
And there is no any holes on the whole frequency range.

There is no any factory-defects on my guitar. But i advise everyone to bring the guitar to the good guitar-maker before use it.

And then romanian jumbo Regina, then it was my friend's Gibson, that has problems with the tune. And of cause i've played on many-many acostics in my life, that i din't own. If it were stolen or lost? It would never be stolen or lost. But if it were.. I thing that i'll buy new yamaha ll16 or smth like that, only to try a new sound.

Solid Spruce top, matching bookends, very well matched. Top shows a very tight grain, Brown Burst finish, beautiful. Not as much bindings as the 730 but more than enough.

The sound was extraordinary. Tried several Alverez and Takamine guitars and then picked up the Yamaha. The sound was better across the board. Nice lows and mids and delicate highs without getting tinny. Not as boomy as Martins but several hundred dollars less to a good trade off.

As I said above the finish is a Brown Burst and is beautiful, no blems inside or out. Just a well made instrument. The action was super low without any fret buzz and the neck is smooth and fast.

great, great sound for an acoustic in this price range. chords and hollow and full, while notes are sharp and resonate well. great balance between the lows, mids and highs.
i've played a bunch of taylors, guilds, takamines and even the higher end yamahas at the shop and this bad boy can seriously keep up with the best of them. granted, this is defintely no martin (aint got that incredible booming bass) - the fg720s produces alot of quality sound for what you're shelling out.

i picked up this guitar at a local shop, and the action was just perfect off the shelf. nice and low, with no fret buzz even at all of the higher frets. i've played some mean acoustics in the past, but this one's just got superb action.
a friend of mine came over the night i bought it and was just blown away - he's an electric player and commented on how it feels like he was playing an electric.

definitely feels like a solid acoustic - you pick it up, cradle it, start playing it and it's got that "one piece" feel to it that just connects you to the instrument. nothing on the guitar feels like it's loose or out of place.
if i was playing an acoustic gig, i would bring this with no backup without a second thought.

i owned another yamaha (much lower fx-310 model) which i recently retired after this purchase, however i've never had to or wanted to deal with yamaha yet.
it's got limited lifetime warranty, and the store i got it in will cover my back should anything happen.

been playing maybe around 14 years or so, although it's only recently i've gotten serious again.
i've got great gear that i'm happy with, and this purchase just filled my need for an acoustic. i play electric mostly, blues and classic rock, but i saw the need for an acoustic to replace my old busted-up one and the fg720s is it.
if it were stolen or lost... i'd seriously be pissed and would think about buying the same one. if i had more money though, i'd look into getting a guild. nonetheless, this is a great guitar for the price. i highly recommend you try one out and compare it to other guitars within the same price range, and you might just end up with the same conclusion i did - this one can't be beat at this price range.

I've played an old Epi acoustic for years and decided to upgrade a year ago. I picked up an Alvarez jumbo maple acoustic via mail-order thinking it would sound great. It didn't. Dull sound and poor projection. Since then I've made several trips to Guitar Center trying-out acoustics. This guitar sounded fantastic as soon as I picked it up. I like a strong, clear bass response and found it here. The treble strings blend well with the powerful bass offering a nice, balanced sound. Good volume, easy to play. And yes, I compared to the Martins, Gibsons and Taylors at GC and this guitar was a no-brainer.

Perfect setup, perfect finish. The nato is beautiful. Neck has a satin finish - great to slide across versus the heavy gloos many necks have.

I give this baby a 9 instead of a 10 simply becasue it doesn't have the ornate binding, inlays etc. that the pricey guitars have. But sonically, this guitar is just fine.

I use this mainly as a practice guitar and sometimes play it with my band. Has a lively bright sound and handles low boogie riffs well - it is very easy to play. I use Newtone Django Jazz strings (nickel) which give it a great sound - I found that the usual bronze acoustic strings discoloured quickly causing my finger tips to blacken (even Elixir strings).

This is a well made guitar and I do use it for band practice. I think it will definitely last, the finish is excellent.
The only mod I have done was to add a strap button to the heel of the neck because I didn't feel comfortable with the strap tied to the headstock/nut area.
If I gigged with it I wouldn't need a backup.
