2008 or 2009 Model. Solid Spruce Top. Sun Dust Red finish. 25 9/16 scale. Dreadnaught style acoustic guitar.

Sound : 8
I have owed a number of acoustics, and needed something to 'bang' around at festivals instead of my Martin HD-28. I was looking to spend under $300. I looked and played quite a few guitars and firmly believe a better dreadnaught can not be found at a better price. You can likely find one of these used for under $200. I compared it head to head to the Martin since that is what I have now. It does not have the bass response obviously nor can it quite sing in the upper registers like the Martin either. However; the overall sound is really not that far off in terms of quality of tone. Its bright, and its a quality brightness. The longer scale 25.6 inches likely contributes to the brightness. It sounds very good and people have complemented the sound. If you had to put a pricetag on tone, I would say the Martin has maybe $500 worth of better tone but not $2000, which is the actual difference in price between the two. It might even be better than the Martin in certain styles and applications. Its that nice. I would not be one bit discouraged about playing this live or in the studio.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Action was fine for me coming right out the box. I expect a slightly high action on acoustics. This is about average. The wood for the top (2 sides of the top) does not match that well, which is not a big issue, its stained mostly red. I love this Sun Dust Red finish. It seems to be of medium quality. The 'Natural' finish in this model is about $20 less in some stores (approx$259). The binding looks of medium quality as well. It came with Yamaha strings which were of very good quality.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I dont see why this would be any less durable the most acoustics but I have not played it long enough to find that out for sure.

Customer Support : 8
I have dealt with Yamaha on other instuments but not this one. Always above average customer support.

Overall Rating : 9
Been playing stringed instruments for 30 years. I own Gibsons, Fenders and numerous other brands. I also own some asian guitars, but I try to avoid getting duped into buying junk (as can be the case on appearance alone sometimes). I have got caught before almost always when buying from the internet. I ceased that activity for the mostpart. This guitar is not junk. Its a sweet acoustic guitar that you could proudly play out with the big boys and not be out-toned. Yamaha just does not seem to produce junk. While Yamaha is a Japanese company this guitar as most other Manufacturer's Budget guitars is made in China. But you can find decent Chinese guitars these days. One other thing. For whatever reason I wanted a red acoustic, but if this were not offered in red, I would still have purchased one of these based on sound. I played about 5 different FG720s along with other similarly priced guitars.

This is a solid Dreadnought. No electronics but the pickups on FGX series are all rubbish System 55t's. Nothing special really and the cutaway *cuts away* some of the resonance and character. Bought it for 4.550.000 rials (around 500$ I think) from the official Yamaha distributor in Iran/Tehran. Top is made of solid sitka spruce and has 6 ply dark brown/black/ivory binding. Has a tortoiseshell pickguard with plastic cover and a very nice and pretty dark and light wooden rosette. Back and sides are sycamore and also have a dark brown wooden binding. Its actually flamed sycamore but not mentioned in the official website... Well... Even better! It looks nice and hi-quality. Neck is matte nato with perliod inlays and its bound in a very nice dark/light 2 ply binding all the way up and around the headstock. Headstock has perloid Yamaha logo and the famous florette! Tuners are Diecast with amber perloid pegs but IMHO matte gold would've been nicer... Amber perloid is just plastic and although looks pretty, its actually inferior to metal... Its made in china and has 20 frets.
Overall I'm very pleased with the quality... Materials are all top notch and the craftsmanship is wonderful... Something to be expected from much more expensive guitars... I got it in a paper carton and the only included accessory is an allen wrench. I give it a 8 'cause I'm a muslim and 10 is for god almighty!... LOL... 9 is for those cool Cort and ibanez exotic wood guitars... Yeah I think I know whats my next guitar going to be...

Well this part is a mixed bag... I was actually going to buy the FG730 but saw the 750 with flamed sycamore back/sides and felt in love with it after the first look!... The first dealer didn't have the 730 so we started playing with the 720 and 750. The FG750 we saw there had a very dull tone and though it was warm enough it lacked the brightness and punch of the FG720. We decided to go to another yamaha store and there we had a chance to play with all 3 models. To describe them in short, the 720 has a loud/punchy/treble sound while the FG750 has a Rich/warm tone. The 730 is in between but all these are personal tastes and you'd better try all of them in the sore. I've heard Yamaha has a good reputation of high consistency production but the second FG750 we saw and played had a totally different tone.
I play all kinds of stuff but I mostly do fast arpeggio and rhythm stuff and singing, heh speed is for gods!... For the price I payed, this instrument has a very good sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Factory setup was ok. Nothing to complain about. It has good action and suits my style well. I hate low action. yeah the guitar is made for actual playing not touching the frets and expecting it to play for itself so I'm good with even higher actions. I've been playing with an Admira Juanita classic and I'm used to this kind of action.
It has a solid top and the bookmatching is ok. No light reflection change when I hold it under a light source. back and sides are also done tidily but the flaming direction is not exactly 90^! its around 85 but looks good anyway and I really don't know if it has any bad impact on the sound production quality.
As for the flaws... Hmm... None that I can detect with my eyes. Bracing is excellent with no glue beading out. I think the bracing material is maple. All the bindings are done with extremely high standards. Fretwork is excellent considering the price range. All gaps are shut tight (no rattle/sqeak/worrying sounds!) Ok Hell! I give it a 9 only considering THIS price range.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I think this guitar will stand years of use and abuse. Its built like a tank and has no fiddly parts. Hardware is ok but nothing can replace good matte gold tuner pegs. The finish is glossy and I think FG750s are only done in natural finishes. Its glossy so it'll be covered in scratches if you don't take extra care of it and maybe a matte finish option would've been nice. Strap button is solid enough but I think most users will play it in the sitting position and the large/wide body will make lost of limitations playing in standing form. I'd definitely gig without a backup 'cause I cant afford another one yet but Yamaha guitars are all about quality so I think you shouldn't have a problem with it.

Customer Support : 8
It has Yamaha's lifetime warranty but hey!.. I live in Iran and this aspect is meaningless here!... Both dealers wer nice, polite and helpful so I think they will gladly help me with any problems I face. This is a guitar without electronic parts and I really care for my stuff so I think it'll last for my grandchildren.

Overall Rating : 8
I've been playing for six years now and this s my third guitar. My first one was the Admira that gladly helps me with classic stuff. Then I bought an Ibanez Rg2550e prestige but figured out electric guitar playing is not my kinda hobby so I sold it and bought a camera!.
If it was stolen I'd gladly buy it again (or maybe the FG730... Or the CPX500, yeah thats a very good instrument indeed!)
The thing I love?... Hmmmm... My friends know me with the name Mr. Materials so my gear must all have sturdy and high grade materials. Both the FG720 and 730 were well made but its about the looks. FG750 is without a doubt the most beautiful guitar (and the most expensive!) in the FG series.
The things I hate?... I'm writing this review in the first night of owning this so there is really nothing to complain about but I wish it had a darker body with light bindings because it looks more like a halfbreed of acoustic/flamenco guitars!!!...
I dont think any manufacturer in the world makes guitars of this quality with such low prices so its not really comparable. Kudos for Yamaha for caring for us... The NEXT generation of musicians!...

great features for a guitar of this price, it features a solid sitka spruce top, Sycamore back and sides these are not a laminate as far as I can tell the grain pattern matches from the inside and outside of the body, the neck is mahogany, with a rosewood fretboard.

Sound : 10
the yamaha FG750S has a great sounds that lends itself closer to a Taylor tone, with nice bright mids, very even, very clean sounds, with lots of sustain.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Yamaha is known for there upper lines of guitars to be set up right, right out of the box, and this was the case with mine, action was perfect and very playable, the fit and finish of the quitar was great, I couldn't find a single flaw, from the binding to the inlay of the frets, perfect set up.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Everything on this guitar appears to be rock solid, what impressed me was the neck block bracing, you normally only see that guitars costing over a grand, if you look at this inside of the body, everything appears to be built solid and right, this guitar should last quite along time with proper care

Customer Support : No Opinion
Yamaha provides a lifetime warranty, can't beat, the sales person at my local music store, deals closely with there yamaha rep, and they stand behind there products

Overall Rating : 10
my overall rating for the Yamaha FG750S, this will not be one of those guitars that you buy and you wonder if you really got the right one, I've been playing for 20 years and owned probably 15 guitars. I compared the yamaha FG750S to, Seagull S6, Breedlove, the new Martin Laminate series (don't waist your time), and Parkwood. all were great guitars (except the Martin Laminate)and diffenately worth the money, but in the end I chose the Yamaha, I hope this review helps

Solid spruce top. Pretty maple sides and back (laminate). No electronics. Made in China.

Sound : 10
Of all the guitars in this price range, this one stood out. Bright, but warm. Sparkly and full. Not a ton of bottom end, but probably more than a low end Taylor. My rating is relative to other guitars under 500 bucks. I played a vintage Martin D18 the other day that kills this guitar, but also has a $3,000 price tag! I also played many $1,000 guitars because i'm looking to upgrade and honestly, can't justify it. This guitar just has a nice sound and refuses to be deemed a beach guitar.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
When you first play it, you'll get some paint or finish on your fingers from the fretboard. It was a bit strange, but hey it's a cheap guitar. The action is great-no setup required. Low and easy to play, no buzz. The paint thing doesn't bother me now because whatever was coming off has already done so.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
No problems yet... laminate is probably more durable than more expensive solid wood guitars. It has a pretty thick finish on it too. It's made w/ cheaper parts, but the great thing is you can just buy another one!

Overall Rating : 10
Great value guitar. I think that's Yamahas market. One day I will shell out for a Gibson or Martin, but until then this guitar suits me fine. I'm classically trained with about 15 years playing experience. My advice is to give this one a try if you're looking for a low to mid priced guitar ie under $1,000. As always, make damn sure the thing is well tuned. That has such a huge impact on the warmth of an instrument. I will not trade this one in when I upgrade. It just has too good a tone and lots of character. It's a winner.
