This guitar has a beautiful gloss finish. The body is a jumbo/cutaway. The gold-plated tuners are Yamaha and seem to be of very good quality. The guitar stays nicely in tune for long periods of time. The neck has a slim C shape and feels very much like a modern Fender Stratocaster. The 20 frets are very well finished and make for very easy playing. It comes with a gig bag. I have had this guitar for two years, so I guess it was made in 2006. It was made in Indonesia under Yamaha quality standards. I can't tell if the spruce top is laminated or solid. It is probably laminated because of the price. The sides are mahogony. There is a built in pickup and onboard equalization.

I play vintage rock, blues, and country. This guitar does well with all styles of music. The sound is rich and full and has a nice, bright ring. I love the sound this guitar produces. Friends hear this guitar and rave about it. I've been told it sounds better than a Martin. I never expected a guitar this nice for so little money.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The guitar came loosely strung. It tuned up well and the action is outstanding. The action is low for an acoustic. The top's wood grain is very well matched. The bridge is of excellent quality and is compensated. The nut fits very nicely and is of good quality. I have found absolutely no flaws in this guitar or it's electronics.

I play mostly at home to backing tracks. Occasionally I gig with friends. I cannot say how this guitar would hold up under extreme conditions like nightly gigging. After two years of playing, the guitar still looks new and everything operates as it should. I am comfortable enough with this instrument to perform without a backup.

I have been playing since 1961 off and on. Over the years, I have owned numerous instruments. Yamaha has been a favorite of mine for acoustic music since the 70's. I have a Gretsch Tennessee Rose and a Fender Stratocaster that I frequently play as well. If my Yamaha were lost or stolen, I would definitely replace it. I have tried to be critical, but for an entry level guitar this instrument will surprise you. It is an exceptional value.
