I've been playing for about 6 years, although it's been pretty on-and-off as of late. However, I decided that I needed a high-quality acoustic, but something that didn't cost me too much. Earlier this year, I stumbled across some of your auctions for your EZ-play, modified Martins, and after doing hours of research--you just can't help but be weary of a 600 dollar, GOOD guitar--I decided to order it.
I got it in the mail, and it's been hanging proudly on my wall since. It's a testament to both the beauty of music and the musicians who take pride in it. It's got sharp, clean tone, with enough bass and volume to absolutely steal the show. My friend plays a vintage Gibson--he can't touch me anymore. The action is incredible!

this guitar is loaded with excellent features that make it easy to play sounds very good and is very nice to look at. The craftsman ship that has gone into this guitar is excellant. It is truly a pleasure to play this instrument. I cannot keep my hands off it. It has the looks and sound of guitars that cost many times more than this guitar.

This guitar will hold up to any kind of playing. The finish is very good and I have not see anything on it that I do not like except I should have got the model with the electric pickups in it.

The Zager DR41 is good guitar for any level of playing ability. It's obviously designed relative to its older sister, the classic Martin D41. Construction includes all the essential elements neccessary for a finer instrument such as: lots of rosewood; in the back, sides, bridge and fret board. There's a nice looking high gloss finish, binding all around and inlay. I like shinier inlay like the D41 but that's a personel preference. The attractive headstock has gold "grover" tuners with the Sigma/CFMartin logo. I can't find anything wrong with this guitar, so I'll "pick" on the pick guard. It's very thin, and does it's job.

My style varies from light finger-style riffs to a more aggressive acoustic rock, and country rock. This guitar won't have any problem getting the job done. Considering the price it really sounds good. It has nice acoustic resonance and sustain with deep rich lows, combined with sharp clean tones. Experienced players will feel the vibration in the top and throughout its body, confirning that you're playing a quality instrument. This guitar has a sound that you would expect in a much higher end guitar!

I read somewhere that a few DR41's (depending on where you got it) may come with a high action requiring further work. I've worked on my own guitars before only to be frustrated with the results. I once broke a truss rod trying to do it myself. So I thought it would be appropriate to have a professional luthier involved. When I found Denny Zager's website offering his DR41 modified with his EZ-Play technology I was curious. I was willing to pay a little more for quality control because Zager claims to personally select each guitar before working on them to reach a masterful level of intonation. I must say it works! My guitar is fun to play and it just sounds fantastic! There's absolutely no buzz anywhere!

I wanted to give higher marks in this area, but only time will tell how durable it is since I haven't owned it very long. But based on what I can see in its construction, I would certainly consider it to be reliable and durable enough. I hope this will turn out to be a 10.

Sorry, but I can't say this in a way that is less than "glowing" Customer Support is OUTSTANDING! After visiting the Zager web-site I felt confident about my purchase. Communication with this company is better than corresponding with my own family and friends! The Lifetime warranty and 100% guarantee return policy (including return shipping)is without risk. That's a lot of confidence in your product. Also, having a toll-free number to call, a web-site,and a physical address means a lot to consumers. Also really cool, free gifts came with my order! What can you say about incredibly honest and outstanding customer support.

I've been playing since 1970. I'm on my 9th guitar(excluding banjo). I've worked my way up from "no names" to very fine collectors. I was originally shopping for a good sounding "campfire" guitar. A guitar that I could leave out and not worry so much about. Now I feel the need to buy a case and humidifier so I can "baby" this one like the others. Yes, I would replace this guitar quickly if I had to, and I would hope to get another autographed by Denny Zager just like this one! I'm proud to have his name on my guitar!

I've played Taylors,Martins,Takamine's
The acoustics I currently own are this DR-41, an Ibanez AC110 Artwood, and a Takamine clasical.
I am amazed at the sound of this 41. Nice and rich on the low end and just sparkles on the high end. I was really looking at the Martin or Taylor line. I've gone and played these brands that ranged from the bottem end models to the top end models.
I have read about and talked to friends that have Zagers, and with the 100% money back guarentee, thought what have I got to lose.
worse case, I'll send it back and get one of the others.
I can honestly say, I couldn't have made a better choice, and I spent a small percentage of what I would have on one of the other lines I was looking at.

When it was delivered, The G string was a little sharp. all the others were in tune. I looked at the low action and thought, oh man, buzz city.
But I've yet to get a buzz out of it.
bookmatched top? if you hold it just right in the sunlight, you can see a little difference.
Finish: I have looked it over with a flashlight and an eagle eye and have found no flaws anywhere.
I did notice a sharp edge burr on the side of 2 frets.
these were all on the treble side. It was just enough that I could feel the sharp edge sliding up and down the fretboard. (my telecaster must have spoiled me) I took a flat pin file and knocked the edge off and the problem was solved.

I've bumped it a few times getting it in or out of the rack and had no damage or dents.
I live in a very hot, humid area and in the evening, I will go out on the back porch and smoke a cigar and play. this means I've got sweat dripping on it and I come in and wipe it down, and it looks as good as the day I got it.
I would gig with it in a heartbeat.

It has a lifetime warranty, (not that I expect to ever have to use it)
I've had a couple of questions that prompted a call to Zager.
There customer support is top notch.
Being a programmer for 25+ years, I've spent more time on the phone with support than I care to mention. Most companies that do support should take a lesson from the folks at Zager.

I've been playing since I was 15. Taught myself the 5 string banjo.
The electrics I own are a telecaster, strat,DanaII and a Washburn hollowbody. When I go to get something to play, I can hear them saying, "hey, what about me, I thought I was your favorite"
It's been hard to put the Zager down.
If it was stolen, 1'st, I'd cry, then I would order out another as quick as I could.
Yes, I could have spend more money, But why? it's got everything I was looking for in an acoustic.

I am a 54 year old, self taught player. I started about 5 years ago, and I am basically an open chord strummer. A touch of arthritis in my fingers limit my practice/playing time, but the way this Zager/Martin is set up reduces the pain quite a bit. I thought my Ovation was easy to play, but it went away just days after getting my Zger. If this guitar ever needs to be replaced, it will definately be with another Zager. It is awsome!

This awesome dreadnought guitar is made by Sigma Martin but modified by Denny Zager. It is just like the Martin 41 but better! It has a solid Spruce top with an incredible resonance. The neck is better than the Martin in that strings are set a bit wider apart allowing for better finger movement. The thickness appears also to be altered to allow better grasping and hand movement. Glover tuners are awesome!

Beautiful harmonics and very "clean" & bright resonance. A very real pleasing sound like most high-end guitars. I purchase this instrument for the better action and the sound was a true bonus. YOU CAN NOT GO WRONG!

Incredible action, in fact, this was the main reason I purchased the Guitar. After playing with the D41 and the Martin 810 ($2950 and $2150 respectively) This guitar is a bargin @ $595. The action is phenomenal and very much superior to the Martin and Taylor. Makes you wonder why anyone would want go with anything else. At first I thought, this is too good to be true, but make no mistake this baby is a pleasure to play and my fingers just love it!!!

I don't know how long it will last but based on workmanship and customer service I have no reason to think that it can not be on par with the Martin & Taylor. I have nothing but high regards for their support up to this point. Other proffesional players claim great long durability.

Excellent, Zager responded inmediatedly and kept me posted. They stand by their product with unlimited warranty provided that the instrument is handled appropiatly. Denny himself sets up the instrument prior to shipping. My Guitar came fully tuned and I have not had to do anything other than play and enjoy it...

Great guitar for the money. Rich, deep bass and very bright highs.
It is a breeze to bend notes or hammer-ons. Sounds better than my 1966 Gibson J-50. It has that great Martin sound. Maybe not the $5000 Martin, but distinctive Martin all the same.
I would like a little thicker pick guard.

Gutar was in perfict condition when recieved. Nice easy action, and an excellent finish on the body. Factory Set-up was just great. I only had to tweek the tuners for perfect normal tuning. It I would have given a 10 if the under side of the neck was finished the same as the body. It came with a dull finish.

I believe this guitar is very well made and the finish was professionally applied. I don't foresee it wearing off any time soon. Although the guitar is little lighter in weight than my Gibson and a lot lighter than my tank EKO 12 string, I do not find that to be a negative. Since I am not a professional guitar player, I could't say how it would hold up in severe conditions. I truly believe I will have this one long enough to pass down to my grand son.

I have been playing guitar off and on since 1961. I have owned several guitars in the past, including new or used guitars, acoustic and electric. The first guitars I bought were inexpensive models that meet my buget at the time, were hard to play and learn upon. My first really good guitar was a Gibson J-50 I bought in 1966. A wonderful instrument to be sure, but not the Martin sound that I would have prefered. The next guitar was an Italian made EKO 12 string, which is built like a tank and about as heavy, but I really like this guiter. It has a great sound and a terrific low action. I still own both.
I was about to buy the Zager D-41, when my son suprised me on Christmas Day with this one. Compared to my other two, I absolutly love the sound, and the very low action.
If something happened to it, I certainly would replace it with the same model.
As I mentioned above, I would prefer a little heavyier pick guard.

Great detail was taken in setup. Perfectly strung, was dead on in tune right out of the case. I verified this by attaching my electronic tuner.
Been playing since 1959 and this is the best action I have ever played. You could play this guitar till the wee hours of the morning and not be fatigued.
Finish was polished before shipping (No fingerprints or smears, scratches) No flaws that I could notice. Back was autographed by Mr. Zager.

This is a well made guitar and should be very dependable. The guitar is brand new. However I have played it for several hours and did not need to adjust the tuning once. Nothing "cheap" on this instrument.

Lifetime warranty.
I played a number of high end guitars (Martin, Taylor, etc.) at my local shops. The staff at these locations were useless. After determining the models I was interested in I went browsing on-line to see what was out there. This is when I ran into Zagerguitar.com .
The site was extremely helpful, giving video demonstrations on all their models using the same musical composition. I investigated the site further and all my questions were answered but I still wanted to speak to a person. Dennis Zager Jr. was very helpful and I ended up placing an order for the DR-41
I provide financial services directly to super affluent clients ($100 million+) every day. In my book, Zagerguitar sets the bar for the industry as far as customer service is concerned. Great attention is paid to detail and service is complete from start to finish.

Have been playing since 1959 played rythym guitar and lead singer in a band (Pop-Rock)1969-72 Also performed with church group. Have owned: Harmony Sunburst f-hole(1st guitar), Gibson, Fender Telecaster, Sigma Picador 12 string (still own), 2 Yamahas.
If this guitar were lost I would definitely buy it again. I would put this guitar in the same class as the Martins and Taylors that are in the $2K to $3K range that I played in the shops.
