I really like the OM size. I am small framed with small hands and even though I have been playing for over 25 years, I have not been able to afford a guitar that would fit me as well nor have the sound quality that this model does. The EZ-Play Modification to the guitar has made playing a joy again without the pain or the buzz.
Although the sound should be 15% lower than a full-size guitar, I really can't tell the difference in my living room. For a brand new guitar the sounds (lows and highs) are perfect and I know that the guitar???s sound will better with age.
I have always wanted to be able to play finger style guitar and the Zager ZAD-50 OM is just perfect for me. I couldn't be happier.

I thoroughly inspected the guitar when I received it and there were no flaws to be found. The guitar received a Certificate of Authenticity and the instrument was thoroughly cleaned, hand waxed, and buffed. I have never had that type of customer service from any guitar store or music shop in my life.
It took 5 days to receive the guitar via UPS, when it arrived it was in tune. The Zager ZAD-50 is truly a joy to play.
I was never made aware or told by any guitar salesperson, even when I looked at $2,000 guitars that I could or even should have a guitar modified to fit my particular needs and playing style by adjusting the nut and saddle heights or that the fret can be files to reduce "string bite". I always thought the more you pay the better the guitar will play.
My Zager proved that wrong. It sounds and plays like a $2,000 guitar at a quarter of the cost.

As the Zager Guitar web site states: Zager guitar company offers a 100% money back guarantee that includes all shipping, handling and insurance charges both ways...No restocking fees. Obviously they must have a quality product to offer this kind of warranty and service. If not they wouldn't be in business for 37 years. So obviously they are doing something right.
Every contact I have had, either by telephone or email has been friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. This type of customer service is a rarity this day and age. What more can a consumer ask for.

First let me finish by saying I am not a professional musciian, do not get paid by Zager Guitar, and have no affiliation to their company. I am just a hobbiest who loves to play the guitar for my perosnal enjoyment.
For the past 25 years I have purchased no less than 10 guitars. I have purchased acoustic, classical, and electric guitars with prices ranging from $250.00 to $1,500.00. Each acoustic without fail would end up in the back of my closet and later sold for a loss. I have never been able to find an acoustic guitar that just plain didn't hurt my fingers and buzz on some chords.
I wasn't able to play for long period of times without finger cramping and eventual frustration. Playing the acoustic guitar was not fun for me, yet that was the guitar I always wanted to play. With my Zager guitar I find myself looking forward to playing and the time flies without the painful fingers and buzzing.
I would certainly recommend this guitar for any level of player and especially for a beginner (wish I started with one). I truly believe that the EZ-Play modification is a science and not a marketing gimmick.

I fingerpick blues and folk. It's very good for this. The sound is crisp and clear in the mids and highs, okay in the lows, as are pretty much any OM size guitar. I was surprised how good the sound is for a guitar at this price.

The finish is striking and the wood is apparently of high quality. The gloss is uniform and really beautiful. The sides and back are a honey-colored mahogany finish. The bridge is beautiful rosewood and finished nicely too. The action is really where Zager has done something special. It is remarkably low without any buzz. I also have a Martin OM 18V which I absolutely love to play -- I bought the Zager as an extra guitar to have at work or to travel with -- but I find the Zager even easier to play than the Martin. I can play barre chords without touching the neck with my thumb! Anyone who is learning would find this guitar very easy to use.

I've been playing off and on for 30 years. I have a Martin OM 18V and have owned a Taylor 414, a Gibson SJ, and a Martin SWOMGT, and a Harmony Sovereign dreadnaught. The Zager sounds kinda like the Taylor and is easier to play than all of them. For the price, I think the Zager is the best deal of all of them too. I'm extremely pleased with it. From what I've read, a lot of people suspect that the Zagers are not for real. I never heard of them before a month ago, but I believe they are for real. The guitar speaks for itself.

No flaws in finish or construction of the guitar.

There are no strap buttons installed; however the owner SHIPPED SEPARATELY AND FREE OF CHARGE a set of chrome and a set of brass strap buttons to accommodate this guitar as well as my other Zager guitar I recently purchased, an EZ-Play Zager ZAD-50CE Acoustic Electric.

I highly rate this instrument and any EZ-Play Zager guitar, whether it is a Zager or Martin modified guitar.
I own two Zager brands as well as a Martin D16A guitar. I believe my Zager guitars equally match the Martin guitar's construction and performance characteristics.
Finally, the lower-priced Zager guitars DO NOT compromise quality!

My music interests are in folk, country and popular. As a woman I wanted a guitar size that I could easily get my right arm around. Although this smaller guitar also decreases the loudness slightly, the tone is very clear and resonant and bright. Tonal quality was very important in my guitar choice and I'm very pleased with the Zager!

I've been playing on and off for 40 years. I have two other guitars: an old classical guitar and a Fender acoustic. Neither is as easy to play as the Zager, nor has this level of quality.
I recently decided to resume playing guitar again and was searching for a new insrument. I went to local music stores and tried out Epiphones, and Gibsons, etc. While tempted by the Epiphone Masterbilt, I'm glad I discovered the Zager website before purchasing as this one has better features at an affordable price. I love it and expect to love it for many years to come! I would replace this guitar with another just like it in a heartbeat.

This review is for the Zad50OM and if your looking for the best bang for your buck, this is it. Before you settle for that low end guitar spend the same money on a really superb guitar.

This guitar was modified, by hand by Denny Zager himself and signed by him. His EZ Play guitar is significantly easier to play. I can play this guitar for hours. I have yet to have my fingers hurt, even after two or more hours of playing. Awesome!!! No flaws that I can see. Personally checked by Denny before shipping.

I believe this guitar will withstand anyone's live playing, tho I won't be doing it for a while, if at all. It's for my own personal pleasure. The hardware and finish are top-notch. I expect it will last, and if I do have a problem, I have a lifetime warranty. Yes, I can depend on it.

I have been "trying" to play for several years. I also own an Ibanez, but don't know the model. I find it very hard to fret, which is why the Zager appealed to me. I researched it and asked questions before I bought, but they offer a money back guarantee, including shipping charges, so how could I go wrong? If my guitar was lost or stolen, I wouldn't hesitate one second to order another Zager guitar. I love the ease of playing, easier than any other guitar I've picked up, the fact that I can play it for hours without my fingers killing me (tops 15 minutes with Ibanez), I love the rich tone this guitar has, I love how beautiful this guitar looks, I love the quality I got in this guitar for the price. I looked at Martins in the local store, which I could not afford, and another Ibanez, which was no better than the one I own.
I realize in your instructions that you say nothing is perfect and that this may not be published. But I can't find anything wrong with my purchase or my purchase experience. It's been awesome. I also signed up for Zager on-line classes and am finally learning to play and I'm more excited about it than I have ever been. I'll be happy to forward my testimonial that I sent the Zager's if you like, and I mean every word of it. As to your statement that "nothing is perfect" - as the song goes, "it's close enough to perfect to me".

I play finger pick mostly. Very suitable for me
when used Fender Frontman 15G.
It is acoustic. Not noisy at all.
Rich and vibrant sounds. Somewhat sensual. Unususal for ex light strings.
Great action and fast nrck. Small waist good features for me.
Zager recommends these strings but I like them a little heavier.

Action is very low. Zager is a luthier. He set it up and customized the nut, saddle and frets for remarkably easy playing
top is solid spruce. cannot see any divisions or seams.

Only time will tell if it will stand road work. I use it in my studio.
Grover tuners (sealed) The name speakes for itself
Only one strap button. I would have preferred none
I play for my own enjoyment. I would put it in front of a crowd but only with frsh strings. The guitar structure is mechanically sound and well braced. It should hold up as long as you use it to make music, not war.
I gave it an 8 only because I would expect it to hold up but dont know factually that it will

Started in 1965. I never asked about scale but as it turned out it is not an issue. Should have asaked about he string guage recommendation. These strings atr a little too light for me. It is probably part of their "String Science" modification they do.
I will definately buy another. I want the 80CE
I wanted to try the EZ Play system they incorporate. I really have enough guitars. Now I want more. No comparison was made to any except the Martin OM series. This is my first OM soo I wanted to keep my investment down. I would have bought it with onboard EQ and pickup.Nothing else to tell at this time. I just plain like playing it. I find it easier to fret than my D28.
