My husband played in his youth & always wanted to get back into it for pleasure. We do own an origial Gibson & keyboard. If the Zager ZAD 50 Sunburst were lost or stolen - I would replace it with a ZAGER - hopefully the same model as we are VERY pleased with it. I LOVE the rich sunburst on the wood work. Had about 4 months, bought new. Dreadnought size, solid spruce top, mahogany back and sides, rosewood fretboard with binding, nice body binding too and abalone rosette. Chrome Grover tuners.

Play acoustic rock and folk, some classical. Guitar great for fingerpicking. Rich full sound that is still bright on the trebles, really sounds good, alot like a high-end Martin.

Guitar was setup great, nice low action. Zagers sport a little more spacing between strings which helps folks like me with big fingers. There were just a couple very light scratches in the black part of the finish below the pickguard, but nothing to get bothered about. Overall, finish is beautiful glossy sunburst that appears very high quality.

As with my other Zager (ZAD-80), I wish they came with strap button installed - but no big deal, did it myself for less than 5 bucks. Seems like a very well built guitar that should stand the test of time if taken care of.

2008 Zager - not sure where it is made but more important than where is how Denny Zager works his magic to increase the playability and improve the sound. The model I purchased (and this is my second Zager) has solid spruce top, mahogany back and sides, and rosewood bridge and fretboard.

The Zager case is a required additional purchase (you would'nt want to ship without one) and was competitively priced.

I'm a rank amateur playing mostly classic rock and light rock/folk music. I've played off and on for about 30 years and have owned several acoustic guitars. My Martin was nice, but the Zager is much easier to fret and sounds great.

I'm not sure how the factory set-up was and don't much care, because Denny basically takes these guitars and does a complete makeover. He sets up a wider nut, hand files the frets and saddle, and lowers the action. No buzzes, rough edges or finish flaws that I can find.

I mostly play at home and may take it out for an occasional jam session. I don't have any worries about it not holding up to my playing style.

Denny is retiring this year and selection is thinning out. I originally wanted an acoustic electric, but after emailing support, Denny Jr. told me that his dad doesn't use any amplified pickup on any of his personal guitars other than a microphone. Good enough for me. I had excellent response to my emails, tracking information was sent out the next day and the company does an awesome job in my opinion of customer support.

I would definitely want another one if this one ever separated itself from me. Unfortunately with Denny's pending retirement, I doubt that would be possible. I'll have to keep a close eye on it!

I have an older (20years) Washburn. Pretty low end, but back then was all I could afford. I didn't want to drop a ton of money on anew guitar, but certainly could have paid more. Ive been playing about 7 years now and have owned guitars of every level. Yamaha, takamine, ovation, and Taylor wer my last 4. So far, this is by far my favorite of the bunch.
