My "ZAGER" GUITAR came standard with Fishman Electronics. That includes the Tuner, Pick-ups and EQ. The equipment has held up great and I have owned the guitar for just shy of 5 years.

It's the Orchestra Model and about 15% smaller than the standard acoustic everyone seems to make. I have other far more expensive guitars both electric and acoustic but I don't even pick them up much since buying my ZAGER 50 OM.

Sound : 9
I am very one sided when it comes to my Zager Guitar. Though most of my playing is "Unplugged" it sounds great either way. I really don't have any dislikes at all and I have had 5 years to find one! I am very picky and a true "Type A" Perfectionist that wants things to work right. For this Zager Guitar to make me satisfied enough to write this e-mail says tons!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Set-up is Awesome right out of the Box! I will say my good friend has a 30 year old "Big Dollar" Martin Guitar and my Zager 50 "That only cost me $550.00 hangs right with his $4,000 plus Martin.

As for flaws. There seems to be a little blemish in the clear coat on the backside of the guitar. It may have come from rubbing against my belt.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This things is still good to go like the day I bought it almost 5 years ago. I would and do recommend this Zager Guitar to anyone who is looking to purchase. If your just starting to play, I wouldnt even consider anything else. It's just to easy on your fingers to go with something other than the Zager!

Customer Support : 10
The Guys @ Zager have always been on the money! I am a very hard customer to please and they made it easy.

Overall Rating : 10
No complaints. Couldn't ask for anything more! It fits my price point, style, ease of play and size just perfect!

I've had this guitar for a while now and have found nothing to dislike yet. Sounds fantastic, nice and bright , full sustain. When plugged in it's usually played with an Ibanez amp.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Excellent set-up and adjustments. I can find no flaws in the craftmanship of this instrument.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar has held up thus far and there isn't a blemish on it. I'd use it on a gig without a backup in a split minute.

Customer Support : 10
Lifetime warranty. Awesome customer service. All emails I've sent have been answered within minutes.

Overall Rating : 10
I own two guitars, this Zager and a Fender acoustic, as well as a trumpet. I've been playing music altogether for about 34 years. If it was stolen or lost I would buy this same guitar again and would consider no other. I have played guitars costing up to $3-4000 made by Martin, Taylor, Takamine, Fender, Ibanez, Gibson and I like the sound and playability of the Zager much better (and the cost). In my opinion the only way this guitar could be better is maybe if it gave milk.

smaller body mahogany cutaway with spruce top, sealed Grover tuners, gloss finish, built in electronics system w/equalizer and electronic tuner, abalone inlay around sound hole

Sound : 10
The smaller body doesn't have the booming bass of a dreadnought, but the natural overall sound is surprisingly rich and full. Highs are crisp and clean, great for fingerpicking. Through a simple cube amplifier with light effects, the guitar sounds great, very lyrical and melodious.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Finish is beautiful, guitar looks flawless. They really paid attention to detail and it shows. Action is amazingly easy without the buzzing that can occur when strings are lowered too far.

Reliability/Durability : 10
The ZAD has held up very well after a year and a half of owning the guitar and of constant playing. The craftsmanship is of such high quality, I'm sure it will continue to get better with age. One hardware issue to mention (see customer support section).

Customer Support : 10
The electronics system malfunctioned recently, causing a crackling noise and eventually cutting out altogether. Guitar repairman recommended contacting Zager company to find out the brand so I could buy a new one. Zager's customer service is the best; not only do they have a 100% money back guarantee if you're not happy with the instrument, they replaced the whole electronics system for me after a year at no cost. If there were an 11 rating on your scale, I would definitely give it.

Overall Rating : 10
I also own a beautiful rich-voiced Taylor 810 dreadnought which I've had for nearly twenty years. After being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis five years ago, I found it more and more difficult to play my Taylor for very long without difficulty. My ZAD is so easy to play because of the low action, I often play for 2-3 hours at a time with no stiffness or hand fatigue. I have to confess, I hardly touch my Taylor any more! I couldn't be happier with my guitar. Not only is it a beauty; it has a wonderful tone, sound even better amplified, and you won't find better customer service anywhere. I tell all my friends about it.

This guitar has a beautiful finish and made with the finest of woods. The neck is thin and so easy to play. No sore fingers or indents in your fingers from having to press so hard. It has a built in tuner and an electric pickup.

Sound : 10
I love the sound of this guitar! I haven't used it with an amp yet. There is really no need because the sound is loud enough for me and so crisp with no buzzing!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
No other guitar on the market compares to a Zager! Go ahead and try to find one, spend $4000.00. It won't be a Zager!

Reliability/Durability : 10
I have never played a gig and probably never will. But it comes with a lifetime warranty so what is there to worry about. I definately think it would. I have a friend that wanted to use it live and I said noooooo, no one touches her but me. I am very protective of my baby.

Customer Support : 10
The best comapny I have ever dealt with! They are truly all class! I won't shop anywhere else for a guitar.

Overall Rating : 10
This baby has everything you need. I have owned many guitars from Martins to Ibanez. I have played for 20 yrs on and off, more off than on because my guitar kept defeating me. I am sooo happy to finally have found a guitar that sounds great and is easy to play. It stays in tune and no buzzing. If it were ever lost I would buy another in a minute. If it were ever stolen, god help the person if I found them. I would still buy another. I want a house full of these guitars! You haven't played a guitar until you have played a Zager! I have since donated my other guitars because they are yuk compared to my Zager.

New guitar, made last year. "OM" sized guitars are 15% smaller than their full size guitars. They have a narrower waist which makes them sit lower in your lap and are easier to hold and get your arm around. Solid Spruce/Mahogany, Abalone Inlay Rosette, Chrome Hardware, Grover Tuners, 20 frets

Sound : 10
Sounds crispy & full of tone

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I only had to retune it when it came out of it's case. It plays so easy , the best as far as my experience with ac.guitars goes. And it has a beautifull finish! Made with love.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
Don't know yet. This weekend will be it's first gig.

Customer Support : 10
The people there are very friendly and their warranty is great!!

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing for 30 years now. I play all different styles and for my acoustic work I usualy took my Taylor. This Zager is a little smaller and lighter and plays easier. The sound comes close to expensive Martin guitars. The only thing I'd wish to add is the strapbutton on the nek.

Gloss Finish, Cutaway, OM size (15% smaller), Grover Tuners, Spruce top, Mahogany back/sides, Rosewood fretboard with binding, Fishman Electronics w/EQ. Purchased a very nice Martin case with it.

Sound : 10
I am a beginner, but I find the sound bright and full. Not as much volume as a Dreadnought, but that is OK and to be expected. Let's just say it sounds sweet to me.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Action is custom adjusted and is perfect for my hands. Low enough to make chords esier to play, but w/o buzz. Finish is beautiful for a guitar in this price range. One extremely small flaw on the back, but I had to use my glasses to see it. Frets are smooth. Nut and saddle are custom filed and smooth.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
Not enough experience with guitars to make a valid judgement here.

Customer Support : 10
Lifetime warranty on this instrument. I have corresponded with the company by both email and phone and received nothing but top notch service.

Overall Rating : 10
I am a beginner, as I said, but I own a couple other guitars, and this is by far the best in my opinion. Taking the quality of the instrument and the service I have had from the company, I have to give this experience, thus far, a 10 rating. If this guitar were lost or stolen, I would buy another one. I chose this model first because of the easy action, and second because of the design of the electronic package. Add to that the reputation of the Zager name.

Included accesories were a T-shirt, Martin strings, 1 pack of Zager picks and a picture of Denny with my guitar. A nice touch.

Sound : 10
I play both gospel and country using a flatpick. As yet I do not fingerpick. When using an amp I use an Ibanez IBZ10B. This guitar is not noisy but does produce a full bright and crisp sound. As yet I haven't found anything to dislike about this guitars sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
This is the good part. This guitars action, fit, and finish are as near to perfect as I've ever seen. Absolutely no flaws in the finish that I can find. The action is super low and easy on the fingertips. Just a touch is really all it takes. I have played Martin, Fender and Ibanez acoustics and haven't seen a guitar with better action for less than $3,000. Absolutely nothing in this category to complain about.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I believe this guitar will stand up to live playing. The hardware is built last (Grover tuning gears) and the finish appears to be quite durable. The strap button is solid. I would use this guitar without a backup on a gig in a heartbeat.

Customer Support : 10
the folks at Zager are extremely helpful and friendly. All emails were answered within minutes and the phone was answered by a real person. The warranty is lifetime but haven't needed it yet.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for about 6 months and I also own a Fender acoustic and a couple of amps. If this guitar were stolen I would definately buy another Zager of the same model. I love the setup and the string science. My favorite feature is the neck design and the string spacing. I did compare this one to other guitars, Fender, Martin, Ibanez, and Takamine. This one had all the features I wanted with a money back guarantee including shipping Both ways. No way I could go wrong. The only thing I wish this guitar had but doesn't is a front strap button.

This Orchestra model is about 15% smaller than the Zager full size. The volume is slightly less, but it is exactly what I was looking for. This guitar sits well in my lap and it play's easy. The frets and strings are set closer than any other I've seen. Since I haven't played in a while, this was very helpful to me.

The guitar was built in 2007. The acoustic electric comes with a built in transducer, with an electronic package that allows me to quickly tune the guitar and I will someday get a amp to use it electrically. It has a cutaway body, solid spruce top, mahogany back and sides. The gloss finish is unbelievable for the price. It has a rosewood bridge and rosewood fret board.
the case is just great also, it is plush and it measures the humidity.

Sound : 10
This guitar is great for me, I want to recapture my playing ability for my own pleasure right now.

The sound is great for a guitar this size, the range is good, just the bass is a little weak, but that was to be expected.

The strings are close to the frets and have had no problems with buzzing.

What I really like about this guitar is the comfort and ease of hold in my lap along with the ease of playing. It is hard to put this guitar down.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Denny Zager personally set this guitar up. as I said before, the ease of playing makes the action great.

This guitar was perfect, I couldn't find any flaws what so ever.

I was crazy about the appearance of the transducer location, but I knew it going in and I'm used to it now, and the tuner makes quick tuning easy. I haven't yet used it as an acoustic electric.

Reliability/Durability : 10
While I won't be playing in front of a live group I can't see any indications that the guitar would not perform flawlessly.

The hardware has sealed tuners and looks like the are heavy duty.

The guitar has scalloped x-bracing for added stability.

The gloss finish is deep and flawless. The spruce top and mahogany sides are just beautiful. The top has a tortise shell pick guard.

I expect to depend on this guitar for years.

Customer Support : 10
I have emailed the Zagers many times and they have always emialed me back with helpful advice and answers.

There has been no reason for repairs.

It came with a 100% money back guarantee.

It has a lifetime warranty, in writing.

Overall Rating : 10
I haen't played since the seventies and wanted to get back into an acoustic. I played an acoustic and a Hangstrom. I was just looking for some mellow pleasure, and have been very satisfied with the purchase of the Zager OM.

I had a hard time deciding on the size, and went for the smaller one. I hope to purchase a full size in a cuople of years, as long as it would be a Zager.

I love the guitar and the ease of play. There is nothing I hate about it.

I looked at a similar sized Martin, but chose the Zager and I glad I did. this is alot of Guitar at a graet price and graet service.

I would and probably will buy another, but it will be a full size.

I believe Guitar was made in far east but info package did not say. Look on Zager website for specs. As for the guitar this is the orchestra model which is about the sise of a folk guitar. The sound is full (not like the baby martins or taylors or other orchestra models I have played). The finish is glossy without looking plasticcy. The colors on the side and neck is a rich honey color, Edges are banded with hard creme colored shell that should take a beating. Guitar is expertly set up. Do not believe reviewers who say Danny's set up has ruined this guitar. I noticed the following. All frets have been filed beneath strings 6,5,2 and 1. Guitar has silver enclosed grover tuners. Gutar has inlayed dots on fingerboard

Sound : 10
Sound is rich and bright with good sustain. Sounds a lot better when my friend plays it who actually knows what he is doing. Played other guitars and found that the Takamine GS430S has a similar sized body, a low luster finish ( which I prefer) and a very nice sound. Being a cheapskate, I would have bought the Takamine (on sale at Guitar center for $250 )except the string spacing was closer than the Zager and I couldn't play an F cord without a buzz unless I pressed down really hard. I decided to buy the Zager guitar thinking I wouldn't have to fight with it. That has definitely been the case.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Set up at factory is perfect. Guitar has slender braces, cut away at ends and the snakelike wooden reinforcing strips ( which glues front and back to sides ) is cut so that the sound board gets maximum surface. Strings are martin lights. My guitar does not stay in tune forever like some reviewers claim. It needs tuning. It is not a miracle guitar. It is wood and steel. The zagers are not Lutherer Gods nor customer service Icons. They are a family business who happen to know their work extremely well and must love the hell out of what they are doing. The attention to detail provided in their videos to owners is a class by itself even for this nerdy engineer. As for the term "string science" I guess Denny watched too many commercials for ginzu knives, the pocket fisherman, and miracle food choppers. Let's give him a break. He was born in the 70s and is to some extent a product of his times. I believe the guitar is however set up by an outstanding technician with an ear for music and a heart for what he does. That's really what I was looking for.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
This guitar will stay at home and entertain the ladies and it's owner unless I go to a friend's house. Do not know how it will hold up so no rating

Customer Support : No Opinion
I emailed the zagers a couple of times and called them once. Sure is nice to get a person instead of a menu. Thanks guys. Only issue I had was that I asked questions via E-mail about string spacing etc and instead of an answer I got a testimonial of other guitar players. No problem - Denny Jr answered quickly on phone.
Looked up web site for owners. It is unbelievable. Video on changing strings is completely detailed with all the right information. This guitar comes with "support" out of the wazoo !!!!

Overall Rating : No Opinion
No opinion as my only other guitar is a classical with very wide spacing and am not a sufficienly talented guitar player such that my rating would mean anything. Check with someone who has played for years to get their rating.

I play exclusively for my own enjoyment and relaxation, mostly finger-pick. I purchased the "OM" size (15% smaller) for its ease of playing while sitting in an easy chair. This guitar works vary well for me and is both easy and a joy to play. It plays clean and makes me sound like a better player.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I can't find a flaw on the instrument. The wood and gloss finish are georgeous, all surfaces are perfectly mated and the level of detail is what I would expect from a guitar costing much, much more. The setup was great, ready to play with good sound as soon as shipping box opened.

Reliability/Durability : 10
After several weeks of playing daily, I don't see anything with this guitar that makes me think it won't be as solid years from now as it is today.

Customer Support : 10
Excellent!! Responded to my pre-purchase inquiries more quickly and thoroughly than I ever expected. Gave me confidence that I made the right choice. Mail order process was painless. Guitar arrived in perfect condition within 48 hours of ordering.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been an intermittent guitar player for 40 years. Although I've played several different styles and models of guitars over the years, I have primarily played the same Fender acoustic for over 20 years. I don't want to discount an old friend, but I think this Zager is going to be a good one. My only possible regret with this Zager is that I think I would have liked to upgrade to the ZAD-80 with the cedar and rosewood construction combination.

I'm a newly returned player, having played a guitar last in the 80s. I play a little folk, a little rock. This instrument has a bright, clear, resonant sound. I've only used it acoustically since I bought it, so cannot speak to the sound through an amp, nor any effects, but for a brilliant guitar sound, I highly recommend this guitar.

My instrument was flawless, but it comes with a money back guarantee, including shipping, no questions asked.

Sound : 10
It works great for for flat or finger picking country. Has a rich sound but not as much volume, because of the smaller body size of the Orchestra Model. But if I need more volume than that, it gets plugged into the amp. So far, I like everything about it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Denny Zager personally sets these guitars up one at a time himself, and does an excellent job. I can't speak for anyone else, but mine came with no visible flaws at all and was in perfect tune when it arrived. The only thing at all and it was very minor. The nut had somewhat of an edge to it and was rubbing on my index finger on certain chords a little more than I like. Just a little light smoothing took care of it easily. Other than that it was excellent. Great action and no buzzing.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I haven't played with it professionally yet, but see no reason why you couldn't. It is a well constructed guitar that looks as good as it plays. I feel it will be a dependable instrument for years to come. Plus the fact that the Zager guarantee is very good. As honest as these people are, I feel they would make it right if it fell apart unnecessarily due to faulty workmanship. As far as the finish, it looks great, but it will take time to find out true durability.

Customer Support : 10
Zager guitars have as good of warranty as you will find. Besides the 100% money back guarantee, they will pay shipping both ways. Over the telephone they were very helpful with everything, and their email correspondence is equally good. Very quick response.

Overall Rating : 10
I have played off and on since 1982. I bought this guitar mainly because of such high ratings, curious if it had the quality and was easy to play like many were saying in their testimonials. If it were stolen would I buy it again? Absolutely. I honestly feel dollar for dollar you won't find a guitar that plays or sounds better. I am still amazed at what you get for your money with this instrument. If you need bragging rights, go spend several thousand on a top name guitar, and have one that plays probably no better than this one. Give any of the Zager guitars a fair try, and I think you'll find the quality and value is there. They are really quite user friendly.

After much thought and research I ordered a Zager Zad-50 OMCE accoustic/electric for $495 through the Zager Guitars website. I had heard this guitar maker was a well kept secret and an unbelievable value. I received it over the weekend and I am completely blown away by its sound, quality and beauty! It's hard to believe what I have paid for guitars trying to get the sound and playability that my new Zager has. I have no need for my $2000 Martin and will attempt to sell it. There is absolutely no camparison in the sound and ease of play. My guitar came with a picture of Denny Zager testing it and his autograph on the beautiful mahogany back. I couldn't be happier and recommend this to anyone who wants quality over name brands.

I purchased this Guitar new from Zager a few weeks ago. It is an Acoustic Electric with spruce top and Built in tuner and Pre Amp. You can find all the detailed info at www.Zager.com Body style is a cut away, and because its an OM size, its a little smaller (15%) it's more comfortable to hold, but if there is a volume difference, it makes little difference to me..its plenty loud. The grover tuners turn with ease. The neck is wider than my Framus Studio, but thinner than my son's classical. Its just right. It came with a solid built case, in which the guitar has glove fit. The Temp/humidty sensor is just icing on the cake. The Guitar also came with a spare set of Martin Strings, a quality T-shirt and some nice picks

Sound : 10
I like the sound of this guitar. I am plying the finger style that Denny teaches. Its smooth and mellow sound. Its not one for just banging on and making noise like a metal head. I had hooked it through my computer for recording and for amplifing. I had no problems. The acoustic sound is rich and bright. I sometimes play real soft after the kids go to bed. The full sound is there, just not loud, but if I want it to be loud, it can do the job. The base notes can play any Johnny Cash song. I can hit a string and it will ring what seems forever. There is nothing to dislike. and if there was something that I didnt like, I know Zager would take care of me.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
I had no problems here. The guitar traveled by ups truck across the great plains and two mountain ranges and arrived in tune. After a day I started getting a buzz on the bass E string. Dennis Jr, told me to watch the buzzing string video. I adjusted the truss rod like Denny said and the buzz was gone. By the way, there are several video on working with your guitar such as buzzing strings, string changes etc. These are available to anyone who buys a zager. The action is low and EZ to play as adverised. The look of this guitar is stunning. The web site photos do not do it justice. You have have it in your hands.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I work in the quality department of my company. I looked really hard to find something wrong, the best I could come up with was slightly mismatch wood finish on the face, and that was with just the right light. I wish there was a second strap button, but again there is a video that tells you how to do it if you want one. I have not played a gig ever but I would just make sure I had a spare set of strings. Its more likely it would get stolen (it is very pretty) that it malfuncting. And if it did have a problem, it does have a lifetime warrenty

Customer Support : 10
None Better.

There is no re routing you call to India here. I have only called them one to order, but I had a million questions before I bought and I emailed them to Dennis Jr who was alway very prompt and with good information.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been trying to play for 30 years. I am just now really playing thanks to this guitar and the Zager lessons for about 6 months. I got lessons first, then the new guitar. I didnt know what a good setup could do for you. I have been fighting my old guitar and didnt know it. (and it had low action of a floating bridge)

I didnt think I would need the on board tuner, but its so much handier than getting out my stand alone tuner like I use to do. I had my brother compare this to his Martin, he said this sounded better. I tried a smaller martin from a friend, it was nice, but I could not hear a better sound...just a bit different and that guitar cost $1500. I have seen and played guitars that look like this one but they did not play or sound as nice.

I wish it had a guitar stand. Its nice enough to put on display in the den.

I would just share, if in doubt try the other brands, pick out the one you like, then buy a Zager. If you dont like it, send it back..They will pay for the frieight and you lose nothing.

Features galore, for the price almost can't be beat. They ought to charge more! and include a case and top strap hardware. I guess for the money its a 10, but on an absolute scale, somewhere 8.5 - 9. The components and features they do include are first rate, and there are many! from the little things, t-shirt, picture of zager playing your guitar as its getting packaged up, etc. to the actual guitar features: Venetian cut-away, solid spruce top and mahogany back and sides, fishman pickup (built in tuner), rosewood bridge and fretboard, sealed grover tuners, check out their website for the many other features. But the real issue is not how many features can one slam into a body and neck and headstock, but, how does that package work together for long-term ultimate sound quality?

Sound : 10
This guitar just sounds great! Its an OM with venetian Cutaway, but really its hard to notice the lower volume. The sustain and clarity is beautiful, and favorably compares to other NEW 1500 - 2000 guitars. basically, I could buy something for 1500, but why, when you could spend less than half as much and truly get as good a guitar? If this is your first or second real guitar, a Zager is the only way to go.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I've looked for flaws, to no avail. This thing is solid! Low, light action, easy to play, beautiful finish. The first time I played it, I played for about 2 hours (not solid, but steady) and realized, wow, this is really comfortable and made for playing! Zager signs his guitars on the back, and even that is classy!

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
This is the only thing I cannot answer honestly. I have no reason to believe it won't last many many years, but, I have nothing other than quality of construction and initial feel, heft, and balance, to base that on.

Customer Support : 10
This and overall rating is where Zager must be at the top of the world, in any industry. I own a busines and I envy the customer service and support of Zager. 100% money back guarantee, lifetime warranty, with return shipping paid? You basically can order a new guitar, play it for a week and return it, no questions asked. If you do get one, with plans to return it, good luck -- you're never going to want to. These guys already had my guitar packaged and ready to ship before I could get them paid. They are a real big time business with a mom and pop service attitude. Customer service has been great, they've answered all my emails in about 30 minutes. I honestly don't think anyone at Zager sleeps.

Overall Rating : 10
Not only would I buy another, I am going to buy another, soon; probably a ZAD-80 CE. If this is going to your first or second real guitar, a Zager is the only way to go. After three weeks of looking hard at Taylors, Martins, and many other "lesser but greats," takamine, blueridge, washburn etc., I had NO problem spending 600.00 on the zager instead of 1500. I normally can't do that (with wine, fountain pens, and cars), but in this case, it was easy! The only complaint I have is that there is a somewhat limited variety of guitars you can get from Zager, and I can not tell if all colors are available in all styles (guess I ough to email them, huh?). But, Overall, like I told Zager in and email, I feel like I made out like a bandit.

My Zager has the Satin Finish, OM size Venetian cutaway, Grover Tuners, Hand Filed Frets, Came with a stand, truss rod tool, and an extra set of Martin Strings, Solid Spruce Top, Mahogany Back & Sides, Rosewood Bridge, Rosewood Fret-Board, Built in Transducer w/ an Onboard Equalizer AND TUNER! Hand carved custom nut & saddle,
Abalone inlay rosette, & Tortoise shell pick guard.

Sound : 10
Has a Great Sound amped or acoustic. I could play this guitar all night without getting tired. The OM model is a little quieter than the usual Dreadnaught size I'm used to, but the highs are crisp and clear. You can still make it loud with a little extra effort picking, but it doesn't take much! Besides if you really want to be loud just plug it in! I love the on board tuner, not that I use it much, it keeps it's tune well. Great for alternate tuning though. It tells you what not you're playing as it is strummed.Smart! Sounds great playing any style, I play classic rock, rockabilly/bluegrass, etc. sounds good playing hard and fast, as well as soft and sweet.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Barely had to tune it out of the Box. Action was set perfect. Bookmatched top was virtually flawless much like my bro's Taylor 510, back looked same. The frets look immaculate. Nut and Saddle are Good too.

Reliability/Durability : 10
As long as it is kept humidified it should. I keep all my guitars humidified with a damp-it in the case. Probably a must as the top looks thinner than most, but that is good for sound. Won't be a problem as long as it doesn't dry out.

Customer Support : 10
100% money back guarantee & Lifetime warranty!
Had a question for Customer Service and was answered immediately in the evening after my 9-5 no less! Fast Friendly service! They have a no questions asked warranty.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 14 years and I own an Alvarez 25th Anniversay Koa Dreadnaught, A Taylor Big Baby, My Brother owns a Taylor 510 that I frequently play, and an electric Epiphone Strat, an old Kay, and an old Stella,(Last two are pretty much wall ornaments) If this guitar was stolen I would buy another one. The only thing I'd like to change is the strings(I like Elixirs) I compared this to Taylors and am glad I saved the money. This model is similar to a 714ce and a third to a fourth the price!! I do wish it came with a front strap peg, but I can turn a screw I guess!!

Gloss Finish, Cutaway, Smaller Body style (orchestra model), Grover Tuners, Spruce top, Mahogany back/sides, rosewood fretboard with binding, Fishman Electronics w/EQ

Sound : 10
When played accousticaly, the sound volume is less due to the smaller body as compared to a Martin Dreadnaught for instance, but tone is outstanding and it's still plenty loud enough for smaller sessions. Plugged in, the Fishman electronics are very useable and sound great. Plenty of versatility with the onboard 3-band EQ.
Sound quality is on par with the top names available.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Factory setup was very good. These guitars are individually inspected and hand tweaked by Denny Zager himself before they're shipped to you. Workmanship is excellent. The only imperfection I can find is a very small knot in the top spruce (about 1/16 inch). which caused a dimple in the finish. More of a character mark than an imperfection.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Time will tell how durable it is, but I certainly don't see anything that makes me worried. It's got good quality hardware. The finish seems plenty durable.

Customer Support : 10
Haven't needed to get it repaired. I have no doubt that Zager will take care of any problem should it arise. Their guitars have a 100% money back guarantee.
Service at Zager is OUTSTANDING.
Dennis Zager Jr is the customer service guy and is very responsive to emails etc. I've emailed him several times and his average response time is approx 10 minutes.

Overall Rating : 10
I've played for 20 years. I would definitely recommend trying a Zager if you're in the market for a high end guitar. You sure can't beat the price for what you get and if you don't like it, send it back.
Incredible value.

This guitar is truely amazing.I've played guitar for 48 yrs,Cheap & expensive,on stage & off.Am disabled now,so I wanted one I could just pick up & play...the OM size is perfect. The OM size claims to be 15% smaller & have 15% less sound than a standard size, but it sounds as good or better than the "big boys".
Best action I've ever played,STRAIGHT OUT OF THE BOX!!
The finish is beautiful. The electrics are powerful...
I have Fender & Crate amps...It'll sing,& it'll crunch...
If you plug into an amp...you better use ear protection,it chews butt.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
At 1st,I ordered a Zad 50 CE(black). It arrived with a chip on the face, probably from UPS football!! I liked it,but seemed too big for me.Normally,I usually stood while playing, for better movement, now I must sit .Zager told me to keep it & play it as if it were my own, while they shipped a Zad 50 CE OM.Just as the black one,the OM arrived in a Martin case.It is flawless,a joy to play for hours.I returned the other,in the same box, with a prepaid label they provided.
Over the years,I hate to think how much I paid (luthiers?)to work over ones I had, this was already done here,& much more than just setting the action. You can feel & hear the work that went into it.
It's well made,& pretty to look at,but I just gotta PLAY it!!

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
This looks like a solid guitar to me.One thing I love,is that your cord plugs into the back strap button, this takes away alot of headaches, some like to put the input on the back,in the way(Ovation),or a hole in the front of your instrument(most). One thing I hesitate on is drilling a hole in it for a front strap peg.
Haven't had it long enough to gauge endurance, but with proper care & handling,it should last a long, long time.
So far,I've been very careful not to bump,or scratch it,but it's sure to get some wear, maybe even a few dings, can't be helped.

Customer Support : 10
Zager sent a replacement to me,before I returned the other. The flaw was likely done in the mail, though no questions were asked. They go above and beyond for the customer. No other instrument I've ever seen has had a lifetime warranty,or fulltime expert service from the Luthier himself.
I expect to ask for advice from time to time,& have no doubt that it will be given tenfold......that's just the way they are.
I doubt I'll ever have to use the warranty, but I know it's there!!

Overall Rating : 10
I've been buying & selling guitars off & on for a hobby for awhile now.I can't remember not having a guitar.I think my 1st guitar was a Kaye,& a Sivlertone amp :)- I'm not a pro,shredder,or maybe not that good..but it's what I like. I know GOOD music when I hear it,& I know a GOOD guitar when I play it.ThIs guitar doesn't make NOISE,it makes MUSIC.

This is the best sounding guitar I've ever played. The mahogany back and sides resonate sound beautifully!

I don't even know where to start, I barely have to tune it, everything is so precisely aligned, the sealed grover tuning gears give a solidity to the whole piece. Not to mention its perfectly matched

Spruce top, made in Korea. Acoustic/electric smaller OM body style. 3 band eq with presence control and built in chromatic tuner. Grover tuners, laminated rosewood sides and back.

Sound : 10
With its spruce top, the Zager has a bold, bright tone. It takes to both picking and strumming well

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Here's where the Zagers shine. The setup and intonation was exceptional - and has remained so for more than a year. The finsh was not perfect - there were a couple of very small thin spots but nothing you can find without REALLY looking for them. I'll be the only person who'll ever know

Reliability/Durability : 10
Having owned this guitar for more than a year, I have to say it has lived up to my expectations. I have gigged with it often. The hardware is good - particularly the Grover tuners.

If something was to happen to the guitar, I'd gladly replace it with another Zager. One day I'll be able to afford a Martin, but for the time being this will suit me just fine. If you plan to pay $500 for a "out of the box" guitar, I'd recommend anyone to give Zager a chance. The setup is exceptional. Try one on for size www.zagerguitar.com

Sound : 8
I am playing this through a Peavey classic amp with a TS808 clone pedal. It has a nce clear top end and good harmonics.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The fit and finish are excellent, other than the top pieces are slightly different in color. More on this later. Factory set up is excellent. Only real flaw was a bridge pin missing the little white dot. The action is low and fast but not buzzy unless you really wack the bass strings (a trade off I will gladly make)

Reliability/Durability : 9
Everything is solid but very light. This guitar has been with me for 6 months with almost daily playing receive its share of bumps. But so far the finish is still showroom new. The Grover tuners are nice and the guitar will last me to they put me in the dirt I don't see any you couldn't gig with it without a spare.

Customer Support : 10
I have not needed repair. But the customer service is excellent. When I ordered the guitar I pick one with a big hairy scratch on the bottom near the end pin. I did this because it was 50 bones cheaper :) When the guitar arrived with a free tee shirt and a spare set of martin strings, it had no scratch. Apparently the scratch had been sold to some one before I ordered so they gave me a brand new one for the same price. Needless to say I am not complaining about that. The top woods are two slightly different shades but I kinda like it like that. The guitar looks it is supposed to be that way. When I contact them about the bridge pin issue I received two replacement pins and another set of strings for my trouble oh and a spare battery. Overall customer service rates a ten

Concert cutaway model; sealed Grover tuners, spruce top with mahogany sides and back. Onboard Fishman electronics and electronic LED tuner. Rosewood fretboard and bridge. Abalone inlay rosette. Overall, a beautiful guitar and finish.

Sound : No Opinion
Full sound with bright highs. Excellent sustain and tone. The sounds EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT when used with an amp. Volume is a little bit lower than a full size dreadnought, but more than adequate. Came delivered, in tune, with Martin extra light strings. I prefer Elixir strings so changed them out a set of Extra Lights. Also tried a set of Custom Lights to see how the tone sounded. Sounds great either way, depending on preference.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The action is very low and responsive. No buzzing. No issues at all with the frets. The set up on this guitar, as delivered, is great. I purchased this guitar as a "blem", but so far can not find any issues. If there is something wrong in the finish, it's pretty hard to find. The eletronics perform flawlessly. I removed the bridge when playing around with different strings and there were no shims or other adjustments. Just a nicely set up guitar with no issues.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Everything on the guitar is solid. Time will tell, but I see no reason this guitar should not last a very long time. I would depend on it.

Customer Support : 10
No repairs needed. The money back guarantee, including shipping, is hard to beat..... but I'm not sending it back. No. I did called Zager a couple of time with questions : they answer the phone and answer any questions either by phone or email. Very helpful. Anything you want to know about Zager guitars is promptly supported by their customer service.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
No reservations on this guitar whatsoever. If it were lost or stolen, I would get another one because I consider it to be the best new guitar value out there for the money. I compared to several other manufacturers and models(Martin, Taylor, Breedlove), particularly comparing to the higher end models.

Sound quaility is a personal preference which can only be decided by playing. This guitar has a personality like any other - it depends on what you, personally, are looking for. I also play an Alvarez MD80 which has a completely different character, but I also enjoy it very much.

The only other thing I'd like to share is that the Internet is a wonderful thing. Prior to ordering I found comments on Zager guitars which are quite different from my own experience. Vitually all of them, however, were from individuals who do not own one nor have played one. The approach Zager uses on their web site doesn't appeal to everyone, but you get to be the judge on their guitars. If you order one and don't like it, they will pay the shipping on the return. The great thing about Harmony Central is that actual owners of instruments can share their experiences on all types of instruments.

Thanks Harmony Central for the service you provide!

The guitar has an extremely full sound for an OM style guitar. I changed strings to my preferred choice Martin SP 80/20 and the sound seemed to be even fuller. I play mostly rock but lately have been playing what ever suits my taste at the moment. I???ve been playing a lot of finger style and the guitar has preformed well from folk to classical

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I was a little weary at first about their claims of playability with the string science (you can go to Zager.com for an explanation) I have to admit that this guitar is the easiest guitar I have ever played in my 30 years of playing. You can literally play for hours without your fingers getting soar. The guitar came almost perfectly in tune and stays there even when playing hard. The guitar has a nice Gloss finish and a solid feel to it like most of your expensive guitars do.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Since I have only had the guitar for a few months I can???t speak on durability but this guitar has a solid feel to it and I don???t see why it wouldn???t last for years to come. So far from what I can tell I have all the confidence that this guitar will standup well to the road.

Customer Support : 10
I have not had to have anything repaired but I have called and e-mailed several times and all my questions were answered quickly and with friendly and courteous responses. They take the time to answer any and all question you may have. Zager offers a lifetime warranty and I have every confidence they will honor it. More companies should take notice of their customer service.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for 30 year and have never played an Acoustic Guitar with such ease of playability. I like the full sound and expect it to get even better over the years. I mostly play electric ( 1976 Gibson custom LP, 1972 Gibson SG, 1974 Strat) not to mention some of the acoustics I???ve had over the years Martin, Gibson, Taylor, etc. It was very hard for me to believe the claims ZAGER makes about their guitars but now that I have one I can see why they don???t have to push you into a sale. The guitar sells itself. If it is ever stolen or lost I would have no hesitation purchasing another.

This is a follow up. I've had this guitar for six-months and wanted to submit a review. My style is finger style. The low action, slim neck and wide string spacing allow plenty of room for my fingers to accurately fret the right strings. I use and Ultrasound 100 acoustic amp and is sounds bright with this guitar. I don't have any dislikes. This is great instrument for the money you can't go wrong.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Guitar arrvied ready to play and has held its setup for the last six-months with no problems. There are no visible flaws, except for small finish blem that I was aware of that when I knowingly ordered a blemished guitar. The blem is small finish spot on the back of the guitar and it took me about two-months to finally find it.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I play this guitar daily for about two-hours. It's light to hold, but solidly built.

No warranty or repairs needed. Customer Service is first rate. Dennis and crew respond to questions usually under twenty-four hours

I've been playing for two years. I own a baby Taylor, Takamine G-10, and Fender Strat. I would purchase this guitar again. It is very easy to play, barre chords are easy. I really like having a built in tuner - very convient. I change tunings a lot so its nice. I have been looking for another guitar for the future, Taylors and Martins. So far this is still my guitar of choice.

Orrchestra model with Venetian cutaway made in 2006; solid top; volume, eq & tuner controls with transducers inside; spruce top, rosewood fretboard & bridge, mohagany back & sides; Grover tuners; hand-filed frets; custom-fitted bridge, nut & action.

Sound : 10
Style is folk, country and light rock for which this guitar works very well. I use very little effects, and generally play it through a direct box right into the sound system. The eq/tone controls for the onboard electronics give me a lot of range to brighten or deepen the tone.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The guitar came to me perfectly in tune (amazing considering it was shipped in late March to Michigan!). Everything on the guitar is top-notch, and for the price it's an incredible bargain. It took me a month to get around to ordering it, because the advertising sounded too good to be true, but I am very satisfied. It is without a doubt the easiest to play acoustic guitar I've ever tried, and I've played all the big-name expensive ones.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I have played two concerts with it and am vvery pleased. I have no reason to suspect it won't last as long as any high-quality guitar, and I feel I can depend on it to perform as needed.

Customer Support : 10
I emailed the company with a question about playing the guitar through my sound system and got very quick support. The problem ultimately had nothing to do with the guitar, but they were kind enough to follow-up on my question and make useful suggestions. I feel confidant that if I were to have a problem with the guitar the company would stand behind it.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing guitar for 30 years, I own three other acoustic guitars, two electric basses, an acoustic bass guitar, and a cello; my band owns a good pa system. I will probably buy another Zager product when I'm in the market, and one of the guitarists in my band is considering buying one after playing mine. I compared this guitar to the similar Taylor model, which I liked alot, but I feel I've gotten as good a guitar for a thousand dollars less!

Guitar received is everything Zager promised - and more!!

Sound : 9
The sound took a bit to get used to - I was playing a Takamine GS-330 Cedar top guitar. Cedar tops have a more booming sound. The solid spruce of the Zager is certainly full, but lacks a little of the cedar "color".

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Perfect, perfect, perfect - the Zager string science was all that was promised. Intonation is the best part and you can tell they took the time necessary to make it right. Having the frets filed so precisely was a VERY welcome bonus.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I have played out with it twice and had no problems at all. I purchased a soundhole cover to reduce feedback. The onboard electronics are well-suited to this guitar

Customer Support : 10
Every phone call was returned, every email was returned, every question was answered. Couldn't have asked for more courteous service.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for more than 25 years and consider myself an enthusiastic amateur player ? certainly no guitar god, but not a hack for that matter. Every time that I pick this guitar up and play it I become more confident that ? for the price ? I couldn?t have made a better choice. I have written songs for almost as long as I have played and was frustrated by my other acoustics because there were certain licks that I wanted to play but just couldn?t. The exceptionally low action and slightly wider string stance has allowed me to finally play what my ears had heard all those years ? things the previous guitars just wouldn?t let me do!! If you have a fat wallet and can drop $1000 or more on a guitar, you?ll probably do just that. But for about $525 (shipping included) you just cannot go wrong with a ZAD50 CE OM.

This guitar has a very full, crisp sound. I primarily play finger style and this guitar is perfectly suited for that style. I do some flat picking with the worship band in church and I've had no problem with its assimilation in that context. It amplifies very well.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
This guitar is modified with Denny Zager's "string science" ez play modifications. The strings are spaced a little wider than a standard acoustic which definitely helps my finger style playing. The action on this acoustic is unlike anything I've ever seen. I can play for hours without finger soreness or fatigue.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I've only recently purchased this guitar but have no reason to believe that it won't stand up to a lifetime of playing.

Customer Support : 10
Zager Guitars has the best customer support I've encountered with any company anywhere, period. I've corresponded via email with Denny Zager, Jr. on numerous occasions prior to purchasing this guitar. I've always found him very responsive and helpful. Email response has always been practically immediate during business hours and before 9:00 am next business day for overnight inquiries. There was one item missing from my original purchase. An email inquiry about it received a response in under 30 minutes and the part shipped out the next day, no questions asked.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing about 2 years. I spent the last 6 months seriously looking for a better instrument than the "no name" cheapo I learned on. I've played some of the high end Taylors and Martins but this guitar gives them a run for their money.

If this guitar were lost or stolen I'd replace it without a thought of anything else. I love the action of this guitar and its bright, crisp tone. I have a young son showing interest in guitar. I plan on buying him one of these for his birthday because I firmly believe that if he begins with a guitar that is this easy to play, he'll stay with it for the rest of his life.

Sound : 10
Sounds fantastic. I opted to go with the OM size because I wanted something a little smaller. I was looking at Ovations and the Chet Atkins SST and they didn't sound right to me. I previously purchased an ZAD-80 earlier this year and absolutly love it. So when I saw the OM models of zager I decided to try it. Fantastic.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
It looks beautiful with the spruce top, and abolone inlay on it.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Yes. It has a great hardware system, and pickup. Finish is going to last for years. Only criticism is it doesn't have a strap button on the top, but that can be easily fixed.

Customer Support : 10
Nobody is better than the Zager company. Flat out in any industry they are head and shoulders above everyone else in this department not just guitar companies. I don't think there was an email I've ever sent them that wasn't responded to in 20 minutes or less.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing now for almost 8 years. I started out on an Ibanez AW-100 which was a fantasatic starter guitar. I then bought my Zager 80 earlier this year and absolutly loved it. It rivaled the 2-3000 guitars made by Martin, Gibson, and Taylor I tried. I wanted to get an a/e that was smaller so I tried the Gibson Chet Atkins SST, and various Ovations and none sounded right to me, or had the playability of my Zager 80. Price was really no limiting factor to me. Then as I said earlier I was crusing Zager's website and saw they had the OM models available. The only decision was whether to get the 80ce OM or the 50ce OM. I went with the 50 just because I already had the cedar top 80, and wanted the spruce top of the 50 for this guitar. You can not go wrong with this guitar no matter what your playing ability is.
