EZ-Play Zager ZAD-80CE OM Acoustic Electric $995
Orchestra Model "OM" sized guitars are approximately 15% smaller than our full size guitars. They have a narrower waist which makes them sit lower in your lap and are easier to hold and get your arm around. The tone and pitch will match our full size models but volume will be approximately15% less because the sound box is 15% smaller. With all the attributes of the Zager ZAD-80, the ZAD-80CE Acoustic/Electric takes it one step further with a built in transducer and electronics package that allows it to be plugged into an amplifier and played like an electric. It has a venetian cutaway box that allows your left hand to slide down low for those hard to reach chords. The onboard electronics package with equalization gives you the ability to change the sound according to your playing style. It also has a built-in professional grade electronic tuner that allows you to tune your guitar in a fraction of the time that it takes using conventional tuning methods. Denny specially selected the electronics package used in the ZAD-80CE which is made by "Fishman." If you do your research you will find that Fishman electronics are used in only the highest grade guitars. Being an acoustic and electric the ZAD-80CE is like having two guitars in one. Nice mellow sound with or without electronics. Louder than I thought it would be based on the smaller OM size.

I have been playing 40 years and have 25 guitars. I have 6 acoustics...Larrivee, Taylor, Fender and Epiphone. My favorite guitar has been my Larrivee OM-5 but now since I have the Zager ZAD-80 OM CE I have two favorites. The Larrivee is mahogany back and sides with a spruce top while the Zager is rosewood back and sides and cedar top....therefore two different but fantastic sounds. I will have to say that the action on the Larrivee is better on the upper frets but the Zager is just as easy to play because if the string science. You really cannot go wrong..If you do not like it just send it back at no risk.

I have only been playing for 2 years, but finger style is my favorite. This guitar is perfect for me, its easy to play, and has a great sound. I like the fact that it is easier to play that some of the Martins and Taylors that Ive tried. I like the looks but its the ease of play and sound that I like the best.
I don't have any dislikes and have had it for almost 2 months.

I have had the guitar for almost 2 months. I didn't want to write a review until I had played it for a while. The action has been consistent - perfect. It came in tune right out of the case and it stays in tune. I play this guitar daily for about an hour, and it is first class. Solid construction, Great sound!

I think this guitar will stand the test of time. The hardware is solid, and it has a nice finish. After 2 months of solid play, its looks brand new and stays in tune.

O.k. This is the part that is hard to believe. I have not had any issues, but when I was on the fence I sent several emails asking questions. Dennis Jr answered them all within a short time - 30mins. When I first called, I got a real person on the phone. I even signed up for his lessons and called on a Saturday expecting to leave a message but got Dennis Jr. I have full confidence in Zager.

Even though I have only been playing for 2 years, I played a lot of different guitars prior to buying my Zager. Everything from Martins to Taylor. I think it is the quality and price that sold me the most. I am not a buy it on line kind of guy, but there was no risk so I gave it a shot and am very pleased. Its nice to know that there is a company out there with such great pride in customer support and actually delivers what they say.

This guitar has such a beautiful sound, The sound is crisp and full. I didn't believe that this guitar could sound better than the high end guitars so I went to a guitar shop and played a few taylor's and few martin's and this guitar sounds better than both. I was very surprised.

The features of this guitar are top quality. It has enclosed gold-plated grover tuners, Fishman amp, abalone around the sound hole and the outer edge as well as a cedar solid top, with laminated rosewood back and sides. The amp also has a built in tuner that you can even use unplugged.
Sound
:
10
The sound is very warm and articulate on each string. In other words, the sound is not muddy or unclear. The way the guitar has been modified through the shaving of the braces under the top, allows the guitar to be much more resonant than it could otherwise. The sound just has an unbelievable sustain.

This is one beautiful guitar. I have a neighbor across the street that has a Martin that he has had for quite a few years and has a $2000 Takamine that he has purchased most recently that said his takamine doesn't look as good as this Zager.

Most correspondence with this company has resulted in contact with the owner of this company, or his son. Most replies have been within the hour. I have never had to wait more than one day to hear back on an issue. This company is more than fair and will go above and beyond what they have to in order to satisfy a customer.

I have been a singer and musician on keyboard, saxaphone etc. for many years although not professionally. I use my talents for the Lord in the ministry. I have been working on becoming accomplished in fingerstyle guitar for several years so I know what sounds good. My neighbor across the street with the $2000 Takamine thinks this guitar in a store would easily cost me at least $2000 dollars. I know I was in a guitar center just last week in Tallahassee, Fl, and I didn't see any guitar in their showcase room that I thought was any prettier.

Denny's system of using lighter bracing coupled with his customized
nut, saddle, and neck provides a finesse player's axe. You don't hammer this guitar, you make love to it. I'm a finger picker primarily and this one suits me perfectly.
Bright sound, clear ringing notes.
I have not been playing an acoustic for a long time, mostly playing my Strat. This, believe it or not, plays almost as easy as an electric. The first night I had it I played for two hours with no
finger fatigue or soreness. I was amazed.

I returned first guitar knowing it was a used model, I still
didn't expect it to be as used as it was. The Zager company has a
100 percent satisfaction policy. Sure you say. Well there was
absoulutely no hassle in getting it returned, which they pay for, and getting another guitar. Lifetime warranty unless guitar is
abused. Excellent customer service. You will receive an answer to
any question via email within 30 minutes. At least that is my experience.

I've been playing for 44 years and have owned many guitars including
a couple of Martin D28's. This axe plays easier than any I have played or owned at any price. If I lost this one through theft or loss of any kind, I would not hesitate to buy another. You cannot, repeat cannot find a better playing or sounding guitar at this price.
I played many guitars again before buying from Zager since I haven't
been in the acoustic market for some time. Nothing compares at this
price point. That includes Taylor, Martin, Larivee, Breedlove, etc..

An extremly attractive and well built OM guitar. It plays as well acousitically as electronically and compares favorably with much more expensive acoustic instruments that I own. The built in Fishman electronics work well and allow for a full range of adjustments. The onboard tumer and EQ work very well.
