Made in 2005 This a great looking cabinet. The chrome trim really sets it off. Very easy to transport. Built very well - looks strong. I like the mid and high attenuators on the back. Accepts TRS, Speakon, and banana jacks. Very usefull. Best feature: The 3-way speaker design - really separates the frequency spectrum for a full range open sound.

I was not won over right away, however, which was partly due to the poor acoustics of my small pratice room. However when I took the cab over to a friends large basement I was really pleased with the sound. I finally had some headroom to cut through the wall of guitars and drums, and instead of rolling all of the highs off my bass' active EQ (beacuse I hated the sound of the highs on my old cabinet) and constantly adjusting the amp, I was able to set everything flat and adjust only the attenuators on the speaker. I'm able to have a bigger sound beacause I don't have to cut out half of the frequency spectrum. I also got a lot of compliments on the sound from friends who weren't used to hearing highs on my bass.
I've been playing bass for about 10 years, and I usually have set the tone controls on my bass accordingly: bass boost a quarter turn, treble cut a quarter turn. I don't have to do that now, but if I boost the treble, it actually makes a meaningful difference in the tone, instead of adding some thin highs. I also love the separation that the 3-way design provides. I was about to permanently loan this Lexicon FX unit (reverb) of mine to a friend because I always hated the sound; it seemed to muddy the sound, even when I used a line mixer to create a parallel FX loop. I was surprise at how good it sounded through the new cab, which I guess can be attributed to its full range response. Perhaps the Lexicon was just too high -fi for my old speakers, not getting the proper representation. Another thing I'm really amazed about is the power and deepness of the lows - just a thick sound that will vibrate your head and shake your house.
I can't imagine why someone wouldn't like the Acme cabs, unless he just didn't like the sound of his bass and amp. I agree with Acme's statement about the "direct sound" phenomenon. I can still remember the first time I heard my bass being played back through the monitors of my friends home studio and saying "Man, that's a fat sound!" Record your bass direct in your home studio. If you like the sound of your bass you'll love this cab. If you are looking for a hyped or colored sound look elsewhere.
Well, sorry to get so long-winded but I haven't had a good sound since I sold my 4x10 cab, and never had a good portable sound.

So far very reliable but I've owned it for only 2 months. Built very well. I'm sure it will last a long time

This a factory direct operation. The owner was nice and answered all of my questions. He really knows his stuff, as is evident in the info provided on his web site and the user manual. I feel better giving my money to him than to a bigger company concerned with mass production and increasing proffit margins. I don't need to fund a CEO's 5th Porshe.

Playing bass for 10 years, 15 years in music. Gear includes an Ibanez fretless 5 Willis model, Eden WT-500 amp, Lexicon MPX-110, Rane Graphic EQ, and a Nobels SPX-31 line mixer.
Would replace if stolen. I wanted to compared this unit to the Euphonic Audio and Accugroove 1x10 equivalents, but there are no dealers nearby. I remembered the impressive review of Acme in Bass Player 1996 and decided to try one since the price is considerably cheaper and Acme is more of a "little guy operation". Nuff said. Peace Out.

Clean, not loud, accurate, good lows for a small cab. I use a Joemeeek VC6Q and and a power amp to it to drive it. Basses I have tried on it includs Lakland Skyline, Status C1 Classic and an Ibanez SOundgear fretless. All sound wonderful through this small little cab. Good for studio and home use. And only had one experience when I felt that it is a little soft (as a stage monitor). On the other hand, if you do not drive it hard enough, on low volume settings, the punchiness is not there.

Have not got the chance to abuse it yet. It is small enough to aviod lots of knocking. I guess the size makes it really stout and rugged. The connections are tough quality too.

Haven't got a chance to call Andy after the initial sales transaction. Purchase was speedy.

This is a good cab. If you are looking for an accurate sound and do not need the volume, go for it. Low B notes are clear.

I'm running my Warrior Studio 6-string fretless through it. This is a great fretless cab; a very dry sound (that's a good thing.) If you are used to using an amp such as Peavey or Trace that really colors the sound, you may be taken by suprise when you hear it at first. When I first plugged it into my SWR SM-500 I thought it was very quiet, but I just gave it a bit more juice and it perked right up. These cabs are known to be power hungry, so be sure you can pump 150 - 200 watts through it before buying. The amazing thing about the cab is that your lowest notes are as pronounced as you middle notes. Very weird for a cab this small. The three way speaker system is great and you can ever further tailor your sound with the Mid and Hi attenuators on the back.

This thing is built like a tank. Rugged, stackable corners and the edges of the cabs are lined with metal reinforcement strips. The grill is similar to SWR's "Texas Bar Proof" and would withstand a serious beating. Even the attenuator/input jacks are rugged and recessed so you don't break the knobs off if it tips over. A very well made cab!!!

Overall this is the best sounding single woofer cab I've played through. With features like 175watts RMS power handling, 1/4", bananna, and Speakon connections, a three way speaker system with dual attenuators, rugged construction, a great big sound in a small box and crazy cool looks, this cab is a no brainer for small gigs and practicing. I can't wait to get another one for that thing called stereo. Perfect 10!!!

It's a straightforward, 3-way speaker cab. 10" woofer, plus attenuators for the midrange & tweeter. 1/4", banana *and* Speakon connectors in the back panel. Nice.

In a word - GREAT. I've been looking for the seemingly mutually exclusive qualities of great sound + small cabinet for years. These cabs do what they say they do, and since they're direct from the maker, MUCH cheaper than certain others out there. Audiophile quality in a light weight, gig-ready bass cabinet.

So far, so good. Acme's are known for needing a lot of juice, but they perform. I've only had my 1st one for a few months, but no problems at all; it still sounds GREAT.

Top notch. There's nothing like calling up an 800-number and talking directly to the guy who built your cabinet. Incredible kind and helpful. And a great sense of humour (check the Web site: www.acmebass.com). The manual is also very thorough, and thoroughly enjoyable.

I play all styles, from latin jazz to funk to fusion to original rock to big bands to wedding bands. Consequently I'm running to gigs almost every day. These cabinets have a fantasic sound, and are extremely light & portable. Acme has a try-it-out policy that's fair and removes the fear of buying something before you try it out. Believe me, you won't be sorry. I wasn't - I ordered another one.
(nothin' like a stereo chorus ;)
