I can't find the year this cab was made in, but it cosmetically fits in with the mid 70's color scheme (light blue) The cabinet has a rear firing 15" speaker that is double folded with openings to the top and bottom making it appear to have more speakers and take up alot of room. It is rated for 100 watts, which means it matches up well with Acoustic 140 or 150 bass heads. It has a great sound and presence. The amp gets a very versatile range for a cab without a horn.(which I never liked much anyway) It is heavy, about like moving a dryer. Thankfully, it does have convenient rear wheels and handles which makes it like using a dolly. Still, stairs are difficult! If you don't have a truck, wagon, trailer or van, it will not go in your backseat.

I play in a classic rock cover band and have used a variety of acoustic amps and cabinets. Classic rock means everything from Black Sabbath to ZZ top, Police, Stones, etc. That means I have to be able to switch styles easily and this equipment seems to be perfect for that. It even works well with smooth country bass lines. I use an Acoustic 140 or 136 bass head to power the cab. We always mic our instruments and keep the stage volume as low as possible to get a good mix out front. This cab could easily do the job without mics, but the idea is to sound good WITH the band, right? So the power is there if needed, but the sound is great at low volumes too.

Original speaker and cab untouched in 30+ years.

The new Acoustic Control company probably does not cover the old generation stuff. But, it is not necessary.

I have been playing since 1980. I now use the Acoustic 140,136 or 136 combo from the 70's exclusively. I have an EV 12" speaker for very small clubs and jams. I use a Danelectro Longhorn and a Fender Musicmaster bass (both reviewed). I have some effects, but rarely use them. I cannot find any info on the web about this cab. Even the Acoustic fan sites mention nothing about the 420. (yes, people laugh when I tell them '420')If I could find another, I would buy it to have two onstage. It looks like the cabs Zeppelin used only smaller so it has great stage presence. It is heavy and takes up alot of space. I am kinda strong, but a smaller player that has to move their own stuff probably wouldn't want to deal with this cabinet. I use it when we play larger venues. It sounds great, but is overkill for a bar or a club that puts you in tight quarters. Which is why I like to have the option of having the same head power different cabs in a variety of situations keeping my sound somewhat consistant.
