It has everything you could need in a power amp. You can check the aguilar website for details. One of tht things I really likes is the 2/4/8 ohm switch and the volume knob as well.

In my 25+ years of bass playing, the only thing that I am sure of is that "all tube power" IS the best way to go for a full warm and punching sound/

I realize the preamp is where you get most of your sound (Aguilae DB 680 is greatr), but this power amp really contributes. It really really really articulates a lot of deap bass when it is asked to...more so than my ampeg svt2pro(that I still own)or my eden wt800 or my Mesa boogie bass 400+.

This is without a doubt the best power amp/power section I have ever played.

Don't know yet.

I bought this amp used on ebay. By the time it reached me it was broken. I was really upset. The warrenty does not trransfer and there were no Aguilar dealers around to fix it. I contacted Aguilar about my problem and the CTO got back to me with a place to take it. He also added (and followed up) with his direct phone number for my local tech to call him up so he could help troubleshoot the amp. How is that for standing by your product. I was the second owner and Aguilar saw none of the money I spent for it, yet they stood by their product and helped my local guy fix it. In no time my amp was fixed and fired up. If I could give them an 11 I would.

Overall Rating : 9
I gave it 9 out of 10, because it is so expensive...even used.

Fantastic sound and that is all that really matters in my book.

The only thing I would change is the rocket engins it has for fans. They call them whisper fans...no way...but with 400 watts nobody is going to hear them anyway.

The amp is really deep, I have in it in a very deep SKB rack and when I put the back on it the fan lever and ohm control knobs press up against the back of the SKB. I am always afraid that something may hit the gack of the SKB and break the lever or the pot that the knob is connected to. It would be nice to have it be 1/4 to 1/2 inch more room.

Great amp!

What do you need? On/Off; standby/operate; volume; ohm selector; and a fan speed switch.

There is nothing that compares. Yes it is heavy. Yes it is expensive. Yes it has tubes that must be replaced and cared for. But, yes, it is the cleanest, biggest, warmest, punchiest, most reliable bass amp on the planet

Reliability : 10
I have gigged with it using no backup for 2+ years. In an abundance of caution, I recently started carrying some spare tubes. The 728 is built for the road and can take the punishment.

Always available to answer questions. I have never had a service issue, but whenever I have a question (bias, etc.) they have been quick to respond (they called back in less than 15 minutes) and happy to help.

I've been playing bass for over 20 years now and have played through an SVT 8x10 before it was a "classic", SWR, Acoustic, etc. I used to think the SVT was the best thing God ever did for bass amplification...not even close. The db728 is hands down the best bass amp ever made. If it were stolen, I'd have to replace it - but I would rack it in somehthing with a 2 wheel truck buit in - it ain't light. I compared it to the other "state of the art" amps available, there just isn't anything I have found that can compete.
The only way to make it better would be to wave a magic wand and take 40 pounds off the weight.

I purchased this power amp initially for bass guitar amplification in 2000 using an Aguilar 680 preamp. I soon learned that the 728 with it's 6550 tubes was one of the most versatile pieces of gear that I owned. I found that the 728 power amp beautifully amplified my Manley VoxBox (a studio preamp with compressor, limiter, and pulletc type EQ) for live amplification of bass guitar, electric guitar and acoustic guitar. I have also utilized a line out from my MAZ 18 (Dr. Z) to the 728 Aguilar to 2x12 Celeston speakers for a very warm incredibly powerful kick, even at low volumes. For the VERY BEST live acoustic guitar amplification I run one of my dual pickup acoustics into a Pedulum Acoustic Stereo Preamp to the 728 Aguilar to either a Euphonics speaker cab 10 inch and/or Aguilar 15 inch.

The sound is warm and clean--the best

This amp has never blinked. I don't baby it. I have come to think of it the way I do about my anvil in my workshop. It is just there to use when I need it.

They seem to be nice folks. I've never had a reason to totally test out their customer service thank goodness.

The fan on this poweramp is a bit annoying but I can easily live with it. Otherwise this is a PERFECT power amp of warm, clean 400 watts.
