This amp is pretty simply in the features departments but that is exactly why I love it. Gain, Bass, Mid, Treble, Volume, and a great tube buffered DI. I have owned so many bass amps and this one is so easy to dial in a great tone - just leave everthing at 12 o'clock and you'll get the best sound you've ever experienced. This thing has gobs of power too! 740 watts at 4 ohms, and 1000w at 2 ohms. I run mine at 2 ohms all night long and barely even turn up the volume knob and it's rip-roring. Everything is simple and well thought out for a working musician or someone who just wants the best bass amp ever built.

Ok, nothing sounds like an Aguilar. Believe me, I have played them all. There are some classics like that Ampeg sound, however the Aguilar has a balance and punch that no Ampeg can touch. Because they use high end hand wound audio mosphets (as opposed to the mosphets from a television stereo put into a bass amp) they achieve a highly balanced and aggresive sound without the degridation of sound usually associated with crappy solid state amps. They then put 4 12ax7's in the front end to get a bit more of that tube warmth. You won't be dissatisfied - if you are, then your bass and cabinet are the problems!

This is the most reliable amp that I have ever owned (i'm beginning to sound like a broken record!) I have one of the very first ones produced and nothing has happened to it even though I run it hot. Dropped it, rolled it, used it in smokey bars...flawless. Don't buy a Mesa if you want an amp that works - buy Aguilar!

I know the guys at Aguilar; they are all professional and honest. They stand behing thier product because they know that it is the best bass amp on the market. Their product is expensive because it works and it is designed with only the best parts and reliability in mind. You get what you pay for with an Aguilar product. Don't believe me? Call Dave or Scott and ask them why you should buy thier amp.

Owned this amp for 3.5 years and love it do death. I've been playing for 10 years and worked at a music store for 2 years. I saw what product actually worked and what products were just a gimmick. I sold Ampeg, SWR, Eden, EBS, Glockenklang(cool amp, but no Aguilar), Peavey, Fender, Mesa (Garbage!!!), Hartke, Epiphony, BagEnd, you name it - I've played or owned it. You aren't going to be disappointed with this amp - this will be the one perfect decision no matter what style of bass you play.
Only negative - it's a bit heavy when you put it in a road case! 35lbs+case

Super cool "new-yet-vintage" look. Tons of tubes in the preamp and a solid state power amp with unbelievable headroom. This amp is all you'll ever need. I run it with a GS-412 and have never gone above 9:00 on the master.

I run it with my "new-yet-vintage" Lakland Joe (j-bass) stung with round wounds and my Lakland Bob (p-bass) strung with flats. With two power-pop bands, a classic rock cover band and the church band it has always shined. It's very quiet. The fan is the only thing you'll hear when no ones playing. I run the gain at 12:00, set the bass and treble flat and push the mid a little. Lots of lowend and punch with some mid growl. Super Phat is the best description you can use for this amp.

It is pricey, but if you're looking for the Ampeg SVT of the future, THIS IS IT!!! I can't wait until I'm 65 and selling it for 8 times what I paid.

Use Modulus Genesis 5, Rick 4003, Kubicki X-factor. All these basses come alive with this head. Blows away the SWR, TRACE and MESA sounds. This head would win in a volume war. However, you can get excellent stage tone at low volume. I recommend the Aguilar GS410 and GS115 with it. The cabs work great with the head.

Scott at Aguilar is always helpful with questions. He can be reached easily by phone or e-mail. I give them an 11 (scale only goes to 10)

The best thing I've every used over a 25 year period. It has a very clean tube sound that can be utilized in many different music styles. For rock music, it can growl or be very smooth and sweet. Go try one out. Be sure to try it through a GS410 also. That cab rocks.

All tube preamp-3 12ax7's & 1 12au7, power-12 lateral MOSFETs, 750watts @4 ohms. Enough power to shake my entire house at 3.5. Heavy as hell but worth every step.

very quiet, rich and warm. As with my cabinets, I tried all of the top lines and this was the one that felt just right. The other amps all had something that I didnt like. This one is perfect. There not 30 dials on it, just 7, what else do you need? The tone is amazing, speakons are a nice touch, I am sick of 1/4 inch jacks. Coupled with my gs410, this rig is unstopable. Love the punchiness of it as well.

Looks well made, I wouldn't suggest dropping it but used with care it should last a lifetime. 10 year warranty too, but I don't think you'll need it
