100 Watts, 15" driver + tweeter, 3 band EQ, style switch. I play country, and a little of rock, blues, swing and I can get a decent sound out of this. I use this for all gigs I play from clubs to small stages. I love the DI option, it helps to go to PA.

I use a Fender Marcus Miller Jazz Bass with it and it sounds real good for all styles I do. Big round bottom for country, mid heavy for rock, etc. I don't like the hiss that it has when you boost the highs, you have to put up the gain 'cause the volume pot adds to that hiss and the gain and volume pots doesn't seem to do much above 5. It seems to fit all my power needs for stage and club.
I played with a veteran drummer guy last sunday on a festival and he said it has a real good but a bit hard sound. I said "well, after all it's an Ampeg".

I have this for 2 months now, I used it for about 30 gigs and was always happy with the tone and volume. The only thing I notice is that it has some high freq buzz when I play the bass harder. It's not overdriving the input, because the padded input does it also and it's not the speakers eather because it can be heard trough the DI out. It's said that Ampegs last forever. Well I hope so, 'cause $700 is expensive here in Hungary, so I have to use it without a backup, but I feel safe. 2 days ago the storm has washed the band off on a concert and it worked perfect the next day.

Bought it in a local store, so never dealt with costumer support. The warranty is only 1 year here in Hungary.

I've been playing bass for 7 years now. I had 3 basses (some cheap Musima, a Peavey T-40 and the MM Jazz Bass) and 2 amps (a Peavey TKO-80, and this Ampeg BA-115). This current setup is the best offcourse. I sold the TKO-80, 'cause it didn't have the deep, round bass needed for country, had a bad sounding midrange and didn't have enough highs (maybe there was something about the speaker). Now I can find real good sounds for my bass in any situation with even dead string.
If it were stolen or lost I'd buy it if I could get the money.
When I bought it I listened to amps that bassplayers I know own including Gallien Grueger RB-400, Fender bassman and sidekick and I chose this one for it's bit hard sound and round bottom that can cut trough in any situation.

Got one new just the other day. My usual rig is a GK 400RB through 2 Bag End 15's, very portable, but I wanted something even more portable and the tilt-back and direct out were real pluses.

I played it on a gig the very day I got it, style set to 3 (flat) and the treble and bass boosted just a little. Pluged into the big house PA and tilted it back since the stage was kinda small and the drums were on a riser. Well, first my guitar player (of 12 yrs.) commented on the tone being so nice, and that's really want sold me on it in the store. Then, at the end of the gig, the sound man, who I had worked with many times before and is very picky, claimed it sounded perfect! Add to that, several of my buds in the crowd commented on it as well. Granted, they were hearing the house PA, but hell, they never said that before! Same bass I always use, a Dano Longhorn for our Surf-a-billy trio. The direct from the preamp is apparently charmed with big-rich tone! It also sounded real good to me on stage too, warm, clear and ever-so-slightly compressed. Sooo..everybody's happy with it, including me!

Ampeg = Anvil. No reservations here, but I'm adding a 4 of those chrome carpet slider feet to one side so that it will go in and out of the truck (w/carpeted floor) easier.

Most solid state amps built in the last 10 yrs.last forever anyway, so I doubt I'll need it, but 5 years is a very good warranty.

I have been playing for 32 yrs. and have all kinds of basses and several amps. Since I have only used the amp once I'm not real attached yet, but the rave reviews and ease of use for such a portable amp and for such a nice price will be very hard to beat indeed.(Those guys that say they suck must just need a bigger rig.)
Take it from a long time pro, it's a real good little amp.

100 watt solid state bass combo w/a 15 and tweeter.3 band eq with "style" switch,CD ins and balanced out.I play everything from Grindcore to Blues to Funk and back again.Bought as a practice amp for at home.Thank god it was a gift and I didnt drop the cash on this ( My poor gf ).Typical Ampeg looks, thats where the good stuff ( in my case ) ends.Would make a great $400.00 end table though.

Used this one trick pony w/ a Modulus 5 string,Musicman Stingray, and a Fender Jazz.Sounds kind of thin for my taste,a little too nasally for me.Perhaps an effects loop could have been added to slip a decent EQ setting into the mix.Gets A little noisey increasing the treble.Dialing up the bass too much will result in what sounds similar to a well executed fart.Ran a seperate SWR tube preamp into it,still sounded bad.

Ive been playing for close to 19 years now and my Stingray sounds better through my brothers 30 watt Rogue Guitar amp w/ a single 10.Currently my main basses are an old Stingray 4 string and a Modulus Flea Bass 5 among others through an Eden head and 8x10 cab.If the 115 was stolen I would feel sorry for whoever swiped it and point and laff at them.

this amp kicks. could use an effects loop, and a speaker out plug, but can't have everything. tried it against the neww fender bassman 100 and there is no comparison. makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck. a built in compressor would be nice. sounds good on every setting.

It's got all your basic controls, treble, mid, low controls. Also features 5 position style selector switch and tilts back about 35-40 degrees which is great for spreading out your sound, cd input jack which I just tried out recently which sounds a little fuzzy but is kindof a cool feature if you don't have a stereo on hand. All in a 100 watt 4 ohm 15" speaker package. I give it an 8 here only because I like to drive more controls than just the three control knobs. The tilt back option I do like a lot.

I play with a Dean Edge Q4 bass with 2 soapbar EMG active pickups. I play mostly metal and hard rock and classic rock. This bass and amp combo are made for each other. Anything from warm mellow tones to sharp punchy hits all sound incredible. Even at loud volume. It starts to get a little fuzzy, and I stress little, at about 8 or 9. Scale going to 10. The 5 position style selector helps with it's diversity. I like pos. 4 when I throw down some Pantera or Godsmack because of it's punchy tones. But you can tone it down and play country if you wanted to. The Gain knob is also pretty cool. It's not the meanest gain I've heard but come on, it's only 100 watts 15" !! Not bad at all. I've shaken more than a couple of pictures off the walls. I give it a 9 here only for lack of bigger harder bawls.

I've only been playing bass for 2 years but I've been using my ears my whole life. I know what sounds good and not. Before I got this amp I had a Crate BFX-50. That amp was cool with thte effects and all but it was lacking something. No bottom end. This Ampeg makes up for lost time with that Crate. If this were stolen I probably would go for something bigger because I'm one who likes it bigger better and louder. If I was really strapped for cash, yeah, I'd get it again. When I decided to dump the crate I tried out Peavey, Hartke, Fender, and Ampeg. Hartke was a real close call but the Ampegs warm bottom end and price tag won out. I just wish this thing had more EQ controls and a few more ohms pushing air around. But overall, this is a killer amp. The price is nice for the package it is. Highly recomend this amp to anyone starting out or playing small gigs in coffee houses or small bar rooms.

This amp is very versatile. The only real drawback is the simplicity of the amp. The XLR line out is interesting, I am going to explore using it as an extension line. I wish it had a true EQ. The CD-Input is a joke to me, but it is advertised as a "beginners" amp. The treble/mid/bass knobs plus the style selector work well together, but it seems a bit limiting to me. It does get a little bit noisy when its cranked high, but it's not bad at all. And I think that half of the noise is coming from my pickups. Would have a 10 if it had a real EQ and better extension capablities.

I have a standard fender jazz with it's original standard pickups. It suits everything I play very well, from metal to jazz. It is a bit noisy like I said when cranked all the way up, but I think that most of my noise comes from my pickups.

Sounds great, plays great, works perfectly. Only drawbacks are the lack of real EQ. I don't think i'd buy this again knowing that I need more volume. I'd probably wait a little longer and get a svt pro 3 head and a BSE410 HLF 4x10 cabinet just because I like to be loud. At 399 you get alot of boom for your buck. Excuse the modified pun. Money well spent I'd conclude.

The bigger brother from the new BassAmp series from Ampeg
100 Watts-15" Speaker-Piezo Tweeter-Single Channel-Passive and -15db "active" inputs-Stereo RCA CD inputs-XLR Output-Headphone out-3 Band EQ-Style Selector Switch-Tiltback Cabinet Design-Twin Ports in the back-Clean Looks
I use this mostly for praise and worship gigs and coffeehouses. Plenty of power. This thing gets LOUD. The CD player input is kind of a joke. I use an RCA cord with a metal Y-Cable and put it into the -15db input and it sounds better.
It would get a ten if it had an effects loop.

I play with an Epiphone Rock bass with dual single coil pickups. If you can get an amp to sound this good with the crappy bass I have, then it's a real winner. I play mostly rock and it sounds great with a boss bass distortion pedal. But when we do slow it down and get quiet it still sounds really warm and fills the room with bottom end. I use style 1 for this. Styles 2 and 4 offer variations that depend on what you turn the knobs on your bass to. Stlye 5 gives a great Slapping and Popping sound. Style 3 is flat. (but still great)
There is some white noise when it's turned up to about 8 or 9, but it's nominal. Great bottom end. I knocked stuff off the walls in the kitchen downstairs when I brought it home. The 3-band EQ is great for tweeking your sound. At the coffeehouses I get to put it through a house board with two 18's and tons more power and it's great to use just as a monitor on stage when you have more subs in front of you.
It gets a 10 just because of the ability to give me a headache after one time through Creed's "Higher"

Since I don't have any money left, I have to use it without a backup, but I'm sure that I'd never need one. I had a Crate BX160 and that thing worked like a dog without any problem. I can only expect that the higher end of St. Louis Music is even better. It has a 5 year warranty thats transferrable and that right there is what earns it the 9.

After spending two years playing through a 10 watt amp with a 6" speaker this thing is a treat. Also, compared to the Crate I got to use for a while this thing is amazing. If somebody ganked this I would have no problem in holding their family hostage and if they refused to give it up I'd kill them all and go right back and buy another one. When I was shopping, I was looking at a Fender BassMan 60 for the same price and the Fender had some more features but when I cranked them both up the Fender got distorted while the Ampeg was still nice and warm. The only problem I have with the whole thing is the lack of an effects loop. But for the sweet amp it is, I can deal with that.

I've found that this amp does a fine job of pumping out the tones I desire. I can easily get a wide range of tones by using the style selector and the treble/mid/bass controls. It doesn't quite have that big, warm tube tone but for its price it sure comes close. A feature that appealed to me(but I couldn't find on any other amp) was how it will tilt back on an angle without falling over, this makes it play clubs a lot nicer.

I just have a standard fender precision bass so I only get one pickup to use but with the amps style selector knob I can get some good jazz pickup tones. The amp hasn't been noisy at all for me yet. I play a lot of rock and some blues and jazz, and this amp does a great job with all three styles I play in.

The only time I had any thing to do with the company was when I got the amp ordered at my local music store. They took a relatively long time to get it to me, but they said it was because they had such a high demand for them. I don't know how long the warranty is for because I kind of lost my warranty card.

I love this amplifier. I probably would buy it again if it was stolen because even though it's not the most powerful stage amp, it does exellent as a recording amp. When I was deciding on an amp, I tested several out and the BA-115 had (in my opinion) the best sound and the best versatility in its price range. I would definatly reccomend it.

I've only had this amp since march of this year, but it feels like an old friend, really. This amp is very versatile, it has a style selector with various preset eq's, and then you can use the bass, ultramid, and treble knobs to add personal touches. I can't think of a style of playing that this amp wouldn't suit, really. It sounds very warm, considering it's solid state. It's got the big fat ampeg sound, just in a smaller package. Tons of low end, and you can crank it pretty loud before you get any sort of distortion. This amp also has cd inputs for practicing, which is a plus, but I'm rarely in a place where there's no stereo, so I haven't tried using this feature yet. I do frequently use the line out, though, and this was actually a selling point to me, since I do a fair amount of recording on computer, so I use this basically as a pre amp and run it through the board into the computer, and it works very well. I also use this feature when I play live with it. This amp has 100watts of power, which is alot for practice, but not enough for live aplications, depending on the situation. I have used it in one gig without any aid, but it was a small, relativley queit bar. But in my main band, I'm competeing with 2 guitarists with 100 watt combos and tons upon tons of effects (the lead guitarists has 7 pedals), and the ampeg alone just doesn't cut it then, so I've been using a fender bx300 1x15 combo bass amp as a slave, using the ampeg's line out. It sounds nice, but there's a little too much hum.

I'm using a fender california p-bass special, I can get both p and j bass sounds out of it, but for the most part I use both pickups at once. I like a lot of low end and a lot of highs, and a decent amount of mids, so style setting #2 is the one I use the most. I also found that you can get a really jazzy Jaco-like sound with a j bass pickup on style setting 3 or 4. The amp never seems to bottom out or get "farty", unless your playing dictates so. Response to playing dynamics is very good.
Reliability

The only problem I've had with this amp was that the tubing on one of the back ports fell inside the body, which was easy to fix, and probably just caused by the way I had been handling it. I would feel confident enough to gig with this amp without backup.

Ampeg has a great warranty. 5 years and it's transferable. I have called their tech support before (on a different product) and they were very friendly. They even offered to transfer me to someone else when the one guy couldn't answer a specific question. I work in a call center myself, so I know what kind of crack heads call those toll free #'s. My hat is off to ampeg for their customer service

I've only been playing bass for a year, but I've been playing guitar for as long as I can remember, and I do pretty well when it comes to finding the exact sound and tone I want. This amp has it. Unfortuantely, when I bought this, I had no idead I'd end up playing bass in a band as quickly as I did. If I had known that, I probably would have waited and bought a separate head and cabinet, which I'm doing as I write this, both will be ampeg products by the way. My only gripe is that it's just not powerful enough, but it's great as a practice amp or for playing small, coffee-house type gigs. It'll break my heart to part with it, but I'm sure I'll love my new one too. this amp stomps it's competitors in its price range. The fender, crate, and peavey entries are okay, but sound dead in comparison. If it was stolen, I'd be really ticked off, and I'd miss it, but since it no longer meets my power requirements, I wouldn't replace it with an identical amp

I play an Ibanez GSR throught this thing and it sounds good. I only use one pedal (Boss ODB-3) and i can get a real good rock sound out of it. Using the style knob i can get a good coal chamber or slipknot sound out of it. THe only problem is i like to crank up the treble and it gives me a lot of white noise, but thats to be expected. Other than the white noise, this amp sounds beautiful and it has great low end.

If it were stolen, first id track the person who did it down and rip their nuts off, then i would probably buy a new one. Either that or i would spend a little more money and buy an Ampeg head with distortion and a graphic EQ. This is the best you can get for your money so go buy one now if you dont have it.
