1/4 inch parrallel as well as speakon connections make it a very versatile piece the rig. Horn control gives a well implemented tone control. Kickback feature makes hearing the cab at low volumes a lot easier than finding random stage junk to wedge up under it. The casters definately take the load of the back. Well designed cab

Sound Quality : 10
Amazing sound. I play everything from smooth jazz, to thick boogernose funk, to heavy rock. This cab with produce it all. Im playing a Tobias Custom Killer B with Bartolini Custom pickups and a Bartolini preamp. This cab will rattle your nads and piece your ear drums. Its pretty much my slave. Whatever I want it to do, it does it without complaint. Whoever said that this cab distorts must not know how to setup their head/bass. I have pushed this cab to its power limits without a single crack. The tone is the same throughout the volume range. This thing retired all of my other cabs.

Reliability : 10
I havent had a single glitch from this cab. No need for a backup. The wiring is clean and neat with high quality connections, so I have no worries for connections vibrating loose, etc.

Havent had to deal with them.

Overall Rating : 10
Great cab. Its worth every penny whether you get it at a discounted price or retail. I will definintely purchase another one.

I wanted these cabinets for a long time and finally have them, and they're perfect for what I need, I'm not a low-slinger with a 4 string bass doing the mosh which is what I think a couple of these people on this review are, I am more of a Nathan East/Lee Sklar player that plays a lot of styles in a lot of bands, if only I could play as well as they do! These cabinets are perfect for me as most of the gigs I do are for impersonator shows and lounge acts where the music is normal, not a wild moshpit complete with razorblades. The cabinets have some good midrange and the tweeter is more pleasant than the ones on the SWR cabinets. I"m glad to have gotten a hold of these cabinets and will have them onstage with me for a very long time, try them out for yourself and see if you like them.

I've had two of these for about 2 years now. I've used 3 different amps and reading some of the reviews from other owners I came to these conclusions.

This cabinet is really picky in the sense that you will have very different results based on the power of the amp you're using it with. If you use a high power amp, you'll be getting some noise from the drivers because you go beyond their Xmax. This will result in a distorting grit in the sound and muddy lows.

On the other hand, if you use a lower powered amp, you'll get good results. The frequencies are well balanced and it has decent output.

To give you a better exemple, I first used these cabs with an Eden WT550 amp and got great results. Then I switched to an Ampeg SVT-4 Pro and was really unsatisfied with the sound. The first show I did with the rig (the SVT plus 2 BXT-410), I could only hear grit on stage and no bottom at all. Now I switched the SVT for an Aguilar DB750. There's a good improvement in the sound quality but still gets gritty at normal playing volumes so can't wait for my GS410 cab to arrive at the store.

Reliability : No Opinion
Nothing broke yet but had to deal with Ampeg's CS for the SVT and felt that they didn't care at all.

See reliabilty.

Not particularily satisfied with those cabinets. They've been designed by Victor Wooten and Steve Bailey and are limited to Jazz applications.

i don't know the year. This cab is great, i love the sound, but it's not very versatile, that is why i rated it with 8.
I play and played with it through all styles of music, from Rock, Metal, Danceable music (for those of you who speak spanish or are from Mexico "cumbias, rancheras, corridos, norte?as") jazz, blues, everything.

Sound Quality : 9
I use it with both mi Ibanez SR400 and mi Rickenbacker 4003 and I use it with an Ampeg B500DR head.
The sad and strange truth is that with mi Ibanez it kind of distorts when im hitting low range sounds, but the high frecuency sound... my god!, heavenly, it's all i can say about that with this bass.
With the Rickenbacker, it's a whole other story, of course, the low lean sounds distort less, but theres still some distorsion, this cab is desinged for jazz, that's the bottom line. I like the sound i get from it when im playing rock i like clean sounds, and the distortion that you can sometimes get from 10's speakers can't be noteced.
When Im driving the cab hard, can't complain there, 600 Watts RMS, 1200 Watts Program, no quality loosing.
When i put distorsion with my ME-50B Boss Pedalboard, dammm, what a sound, just love it.
Im putting 9 beacuse of that distortion i get sometimes on my low E, but it's still a great cab.

Reliability : 10
I haven't tested it with my new head to it's full potential yet, but from what i have obtained running as an extension cab through a Peavey Combo 115 at 300Watts, great reliability. Never broken down

Haven't delt with Ampeg, luckly, yet.

I have been playing for around 2 1/2 years. If it was stolen, i wouldn't know if i would buy it again because i bougth this amp because it was on special at Guitar Trader and because of it's power rating, I would consider trying all diferent cabs this time, but that doesn't meen i don't love the sound i get from it, i just don't know that much about bass cabs. got lucky i guess, really lucky.

Initially, I was looking to buy the PR410 but I was steered away from it by the salesman who claimed that the BXT was the "same cabinet, just different looks". Well, I fell for it since the BXT was a few hundred $ cheaper. At the time, I was playing primarily blues and jazz and thought it sounded fantastic. It had a very tight response and cut through the mix with ease. A couple of years down the road, I am now back to playing hard rock and have noticed that this is NOT a very versitle cabinet. It was designed by Victor Wooten and Steve Bailey and is voiced to that style of playing. I don't recommend it for any type of aggressive, driving music.

Sound Quality : 4
I have been using a Modulus Genesis 5 string through an Ampeg BSP preamp. This goes into a Crown macro-tech 1200 power amp bridged mono. It is the same setup I have used the entire time I owned the cabinet. Again, if you're playing jazz or blues you'll love the sound. If you're into more hard driving rock and want that classic ampeg growl, you won't get it with this cabinet. When cranked, the 10's bottom out easily.

Reliability : 5
I began to question how long this cabinet would last with me playing the harder style of music that I do now. I thought about adding the BXT-15 underneath to help add more bottom end but decided to trade it in and get the PR 410 instead. WOW...truly a major difference. The BXT is nowhere near the cabinet that the PR410 is. There is more to it than just the body armor. The entire design is different, especially the way the ports are tuned. My advice is to spend the extra money and get the PR410.

Customer Support : 10
The ampeg rep I talked to actually backed me up on this. He said that the BXT series was designed for the playing style of Victor and not with a more classic growl tone in mind. Wish I had found this out before I purchased it, but it's my fault for not testing it more aggressively before I bought it.

Overall Rating : 4
This cabinet isn't all bad, but it doesnt measure up to the claim that it's the same as the PR410 without the body armor. If you're into jazz or blues standards and you keep the volume knob closer to 5 than 10, you'll be fairly satisfied. However, I would just get the Classic 410hlf cabinet, which is much cheaper, if that's the case.

This Cabinet is a 4X10 brutal beast. Produces 600 watts of pure bass power (use it with SVT III Pro head) and it's a total winner. I've tested many cabs and eventually went to buy an Ampeg PR 410 HLF. Then, I saw the BXT 410 HL cabinet which is the same cab. It produces 600 watts (RMS 1200 watt). The only difference is that the Ampeg PR has armour around it and the Bxt not. But I wouldn't pay 400 euro's extra just for armour.

Sound Quality : 10
The sound is amazing. My rig is a SVT III PRo head with this cab. I also use a Yamaha BB 5IIL and a TRB 1005 L bassguitar. FANTASTIC sound!!!! Way better then the SVT cabs. The SVT cabs have tons of low end but the articulation wasn't that good. Every note at my low b string just sounded the same on every fret. Not the thing I wanted. So I tested the BXT 410 HL cab. AMAZING!!! Extremely LOUD! Punshy, clear,fat,... it's got everything you want. You don't need to buy the BXT 115 Cab,because the sound of the 410 is HUGE! Buy this baby, cause it's the best cab ampeg makes. It's also one of the most expensive 410 cabs on the planet (next to Aguilar and Mesa) but it's worth your bucks!!!

Reliability : 10
Very tough built. It ways a lot (122 pounds) but has really good castors underneath it. Have used it to gigging for about 3 times and had no problems what so ever.

Haven't dealth with them yet.

Fantastic piece of work. A cab for a lifetime in my eyes! If you want the PR 410 HLF cab, buy the BXT 410 HL cab instead. It's the same cab but with armour on it. The only problem the PR makes is that it's not roadworthy (way to heavy and to pricy)and the armour is shinny as hell (scratches are unavoidable). The PR costs 1427 euro, the BXT 1010 euro. I made my decision in no time. Same sound, only more readworthy and a lot cheaper.
