I got it that cheap, $100 beacause it had no 10 inch speakers. I am unsure of the year it was made, I bought it in Summer of 2005, and the ten inch speakers had been removed for some unknown reason. Once I got some new speakers in it just amazed me. The 2x10 and 2x15 set up is completely unique and amazing. Works great for me, running a SVT3pro head though and it's beauitful. I have used a vintage Sunn head through it as well and this cab can honestly put out any tone the head produces. Adjustable tweeter and it has BiAmp and full range inputs.

I have used a few basses on this set up, an Ibanez SR1000 mostly, but a few different fretted and fretless 4 and 6 strings. The sound is full and rich and beautiful. Can faithfully reproduce any sound comming from the head, be it low, high, dirty, clean, anything. Everything i have thrown at it it takes easily.

It's an Ampeg. Odds are I will be buried with it. And if anyone dug me up, they could just plug in and rock. It looks like the previous owner beat the shit out if it, but its rolling, no problem. Yea, it's heavey, but it's a bass cab, they aren't made out of feathers for a reason.

Never had any need for it, so I can't speak on it. I have never had any trouble with ANY Ampeg product, and no one I personally know has had any trouble either. They are just built to last forever.

I have been playing bass for about 15 or 16 years, since I was around 9 or 10, and this is the very best bass cab I have ever played through. No BS. I have played almost everything you could imagine, SWR, Eden, Mesa, Crate, Fender, etc and I own other Ampeg cabs, aswell as Sunn and Peavey cabs, and nothing matches its veristility. Not only would I buy antoher one if it was stolen, I am planning buying another just to have two. Maybe get a second head and have even more possiblities.
The only complaint I can some up with about this cab, and I have looked for one, believe me, is beacause of how short it is and how the 15s are mounted, it could project slightly better. The 10s being angled up completely compinsate, and you can't tell if you are more than ten or fifteen feet away (all amps sound better when you stand back from them) but you can neutralize it by putting on something. But what ever you set it on has to be strong, since this guy ain't light.

SLM built cabinet which they threw the Ampeg name on. 2x10" Celestion speakers and 2x15 Ampeg custom (actually they are Eminence) speakers. Also 1 tweeter if you need the extra high end. Nice and portable. NOT!!! At around 150 lbs it's not anywhere near portable. Get a road crew and have them do the work.

I've played new rock (Godsmack, POD, Creed), classic rock and country thru this cabinet. It sounds great at lower volumes. Forget about cranking alot of low end at high volume thru it, as it "can't handle the truth". When I demoed it at a music store with my SVT head with the SLM/Ampeg rep there I noticed it farted when I played my 6 string with alot of low end (I had the ultra-low switch on). The rep came over and turned the switch off and backed off the low end on my amp, then said I didn't need it. That must be why the next year they got rid of the isobaric design and went to a single 15" design.
As I said, it sounds great at low volumes. Forget about the 600 watt rating. Maybe about 200 watts is enough for this.

And to think I traded an old Ampeg V9 cabinet for this because I wanted something smaller. Played at low volumes it sounds great. DO NOT USE ALONG ON LARGE STAGES! Hell, do not use on large stages. If you do, use a DI and have them run it thru the monitors. The 10s sound great. Once I took out the original speakers and put in a single Peavey Black Widow, it sounded great. SLM has a great warranty plan.
By the way, I sold the Isovent50Pro cabinet I had and got a nice original Hartke 410XL cabinet instead. I'd NEVER get another Isovent cabinet again.

SLM is a great company for support, but they couldn't do anything for this thing. Maybe that's why the next year they dropped the whole isobaric design thing and replaced it with a single speaker in the bottom instead.

I truly would like to think that the people at SLM thought they had a killer idea, but someone was maybe puffing too much when this idea came thru. In all the years I've been playing (30 years maybe) this is the only cabinet I'll never miss having. Heck, even if I get stood up by the guy buying it from me I won't go repo it. It's way too heavy, it cant handle serious low end, and the power rating is way off. I wish I had back the V9 cabinet I traded for it, even though it had to be turned sideways to fit most doorways. Like I said, it sounds best with only 1x15 instead of 2.

this cabinet appeared in the mid '90s and was intended to be a suitable compromise between a 4x10" cab and a 2x15" cab. it features 2 10" up top on a slant for onstage monitoring and a pair of cone to cone 15" drivers in the front ported cabinet. this cabinet EASILY handles lows down to 40HZ (much to my drummer's chagrin). it sounds awesome, with plenty of midrange punch and enough lowend tos atisfy even the most bass hungry freak (i.e. ME) it features a full range input and you can biamp it as well, sending a signal to bothe the 15's and 10's. it also has an attenuator for the tweeter allowing for flat, +6DB and -6DB operation. I use this cabinet for both rehearsals and gigs, and it never fails to be loud enough. even at clubs where they dont mic the bass, i can easily cut through the mix.

i use this cabinet with a B2R 350 watt head into it full range at 4 ohms. playing a mix of punk, funk and metal, this baby handles it with ease. ive never noticed any unwanted vibration or any signs that the cabinet is struggling to keep up. it can handle any style you could throw at it in my opinion. country, funk, metal, rock this bad boy can handle it.

since i use this cabinet at both rehearsals and shows, i can safely say that without backup, i would gladly take this cabinet on tour with me, as i believe it could crank it out night after night without hesitation.

since this cabinet was dropped because of poor sales (why people would choose the LOOK of the 8x10 over this i dont know, this is by FAR the superior cabinet) there is not much available either on the web or ampegs official site pertaining to this cabinet, so i cant say anything regarding this.

ive been playing for almost ten years, and every combo and stack ive used pales in comparison to this. the sheer dynamics of this cabinet blow my mind everytime i plug in.
if stolen or lost, I would have to scour the earth and pay damn near any price to replace this badboy. im currently looking for more of them, just to have them on hand. if you have one and want to work out a deal, contact me.

Ball-rattling lows are this beast's forte. This speaker configuration can produce 40hz tones but I don't know if the cabinet can. What I do know is that putting your torso in front of this amp, at volume, will make your balls vibrate and eventually make you nauseous (as low frequencies are want to do). The two 10's are loud and clear and the tweeter is ok. This cabinet was made to replace the 8x10 "refridgerator" but never caught on I guess. Five and six stringers will love the bottom on this cabinet.

The only problem with this setup is the tweeter. It is easily overpowered but I don't use it anyway.

This is a good cabinet and I would buy it again. It is for sale, by-the-way, as I have quit playing bass.
