I'm quite sure all the features have been covered. Go to Ampegs site otherwise.

My 3pro is a '99, I bought for Hard/rock metal stuff. I have several other heads/an orig SVT (2), which are more maintenance than my ol lady, a Trace beater (yuk) and an SWR. I love the 3pro, I play Fender P-deluxes (w/humbuck) and a way cool Peavey RJIV. I always run the amp wide open, the amp doesn't crunch as good as pure tuber would, so I only use a Tech21 bass driver for my crunch. Why do some guys buy a head for grand then buy a piece of shit $79.00 ZOOM box to play thru ???? I had to ask that......This amp will do it all, when in doubt, set it totally flat, tweak to taste.....

Reliability : 9
I threw it down a flight of stairs in a drunken rage (IN AN SKB CASE).
IT WAS FINE !!! Hmmmmmmm a back up ? Never gave that any thought !!!
Naaaaaaah, I dont need no stinking backup !!!! And I am the KING OF AMP & BASS ABUSE !!! An Ampeg (any model) and a Fender Bass & I can RULE THE WORLD......

Customer Support : 9
I called, discussed tubes, they were cool.....Never had any real issues....they been around a long time, I have faith in em.

Overall Rating : 9
Ive played for 600 hundred years, millions of gigs, if it were stolen, I'd buy another after I was released for killing the chicken shit that took it...I guess Eden is close, WT-800 is cool, too. t's light, LOUD, but a goooood loud, lots of fundamentals, if you can't make it work for you, you might wanna hang it up, it's in there !!!
Damn things bulletproof. What do I hate ??? The sniveling little whiners who go to the local music store, play an amp on 1 (maybe 2),
then go eeeeeeeew! that sucks, this sucks, you suck. When in reality, they suck, so they bash everything out there, and say "my crate sounds as good as that", which maybe true (in thier bedroom). HA! ok I'M done now !!!! Rock on!!!, Most places will rent ya the amp of yer dreams to try on a gig, thats the ONLY way to find your true fuckin voice...........

Quite a few. Check out www.ampeg.com.

I use a Fender Jazz Bass (two single coil) and a '78 Telecaster Bass (neck-mounted humbucker) through this head. My cabinet is a 15" Ampeg Classic. This may be true for many amps, but sometimes I'm completely thrilled with the sound, and other times, it's a lesson in frustration in getting something tight out of it. The amp has quite a bit of bite to it, and plenty of warmth. Range is definitely what this amp is good for - it takes the limitations of your guitar, and expands on them. My jazz can have a clean, bright slap tone, or get that classic jazz-bass growl - and my telecaster shakes the house with clean, tight bottom. This is, in large part, due to a defeatable 9-band EQ - the EQ, unfortunately, can cause quite a bit of hiss in the higher range. On stage is isn't as noticeable, but when practicing, it is a HUGE pain in the ass. Some distortion can happen at higher volumes, too - 10" speakers are more suited for this. Overall, it is definitely an adaptive amp.

Reliability : 8
This amp is definitely dependable - I haven't had it for the longest time, but it seems to be built like a brick shithouse. I'm certainly not worried.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 8
You definitely need to know your stuff to get a nice sound out of this amp - the dizzying array of options can make it difficult to tell at times what parameter you need to change to make your sound work. Just take it one step at a time, and you'll find that it's the amp that keeps on giving.

between the tubes, hi & lo boost, eq & frequency selector, this amp has it all to make a bass player know what a bass should sound like.

Sound Quality : 9
I play loud modern metal. I play Ibanez sr-800, ESP c305 & b205. Those low A notes cut through like a mutha. Tone of this amp provides just the right frequencies to hear all notes & strings when bangin out chords.
I run through a BBE 462 sonic maximizer and DOD bass30 processor.
together you get some of the best bass sounds from super-sonic to ultra high slap&pop. dude...

Reliability : 10
never had a problem except for that damn scratch when I dropped it.

never had to deal...

I have been playing for over 15years. I was a guitar player for the first ten but who cares? I wish my rack had legs so it could carry itself 'cause it's so heavy to carry any amount of distance but then again, I don't have to carry it anyway.

Look at some of the other reviews for info or check out ampeg's site.

I use an Ibanez EDC700 with special designed SFR passive pickups. I didnt know that passive pickups required a battery though, but I dont know much about that stuff anyway. I play at high volumes, rock mostly, and there is a little noise, the standard noise you get from moist amps when up loud. It is drowned out by the guitarists noise anyway. I haven't noticed any distortion at any level when I play. I havent tried to go all the way up or anything like that, but I do play loud!!

I have heard from numerous players and soundmen of how awesome my sound is. I have been told is sounds better than alot of national acts. I haven't heard any local bass players with a sound this good either.

Reliability : 10
I have never had a problem with it. I dont even own a back-up let alone take one with me. I have to asmit I dont take care of the inside like I should but I still have never had a problem. Our guitarist actually cleaned it recently and I am going to get some new tubes. I am anxious to see if there will be a difference.

Customer Support : 5
I haven't needed any support, because I haven't had any problems. I think the warranty is a 1 or 2 year. Since I haven't dealt with them I will have to give them an average rating, because I dont know.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for about 7 years now. I have been playing with this head for 2 years. I would definitely buy it again. I love the versatility of it and the AWESOME SOUND i get from it combined with my ZOOM processor and Ibanez.

Not sure what year this one was made, but it was made before they redesigned the look of it, it's the same on the inside. Everyone else has listed the specs so I won't bother, it's the same as them. I use this amp to play punk rock, you really can't ask for anything better for that style unless you want an SVT CL, 2 Pro or 4 Pro but the price difference makes it not worth it. Besides, hook up a BBE 482 Sonic Maximizer in the effects loop and you've got an amp that sounds as good as a real SVT at a fraction of the cost, weight and maintenance.

Sound Quality : 10
I use all kinds of stuff: G&L L2000 with a maple fretboard and 2 humbucking pickups, Ibanez ATK300 with a maple fretboard and one massive humbucker, ESP 400 Series P-Bass with a maple fretboard, Fender Jazz Bass with a rosewood fretboard. This head suits any style of music, if it's good enough for Les Claypool then it's good enough for you. This is THE head to get if you play punk rock. Want a Matt Freeman (Rancid) tone? Plug in an Ibanez ATK300 flip to "Attack" on the bass, use ultra high and ultra low, boost the high mids and there it is. Want a Klaus Flouride (Dead Kennedys) tone? Plug in a Fender Jazz and dial in a bunch of bridge pickup, use ultra high and low, boost the low mids and play just above the bridge pickup aggressively with a heavy pick. Damn this head is awesome, I don't believe I'll ever need anything else. You can get some great tube overdrive with this head, but watch that you don't clip it too often.

Reliability : 9
You can always depend on an SVT. I can't afford a backup, but I wouldn't bother.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 10
I used to play through a Peavey Combo 115, what a difference. This head is great, I really couldn't ask for anything better (SVT Classics are too much to maintain). I bought this knowing Ampeg's reputation and the reputation of the SVT name. I never tried one of these before I bought it, I knew it was what I was after. If you play punk rock don't hesitate to buy one of these (or any of the afforementioned basses), trust me I've done a lot of research when it comes to punk bass and the best equipment to play it on. This amp is awesome for any other style as well, just check the Ampeg website to see all of the people who use this thing.

This head is great. It is really versitile, and is great for what i play (punk). I have it hooked up to a Ampeg 4X10 hl pro. It has a Graphic EQ which you can also use as a second channel, it has an input in the back for a foot switch. I use this for all the shows i have played in the past month and it works great, nothing has gone wrong. I can't think of anything else i would want on it. So for me it's perfect.

Sound Quality : 9
I play an Ernie ball sterling w/ a pick, fingers, and slap when i practice (altho i never use my fingers or slap when i play with my band)It's not noisy, when you crank it it gets a small hiss but i havn't seen a head that doesn't get a small hiss when played at loud volumes. I never have to turn it up that loud so that's not a problem.
You can get all kinds of nice sound out of this head, i play punk and it's great for that but when you mess around w/ all the settings you can get all sorts of sounds. The head never gets any distortion so that's good.

Reliability : 10
I would never worry about bringing a back up when i use this head. The head has never broken down. This is a ver dependable head, even if it takes some bumps.

Customer Support : No Opinion
The warranty is 5 years. I have never had to deal w/ customer sevice so i can't give a rating for it.

At the time i wrote this i have been playing bass for 2 and 1/2 years. If it was stolen i would def. buy another one. I Can't think of anything i don't like about alltho i wish it had a tuner on it, that would be cool. But then again i almost never have to tune my bass. It's a great head.

Brand new 2001 built. 3 band EQ with midrange selector, and selectable 9-band graphic. Effects loop. Footswitch jack for EQ/mute functions. Tuner out. Independant direct out. Used with Ampeg 4x10 cab, plenty of power. 275w @ 8 ohms, 450w @ 4 ohm tube-driven MOS-FET power.

Sound Quality : 9
I play a standard P-Bass for punk rock and the band at church and this amp works great for both. The tone is very versatile, with many options. The tube gain feature allows you to get a fast, punchy tone, or a slower, mellower tone. The high and low boosts greatly enhance the sound.

Reliability : No Opinion
It seems very durable. I would use it without a backup. I'd just bring an extra fuse and some tubes. It's built like a tank, with the 1/4" steel plate on the front and heavy-duty chassis. I haven't owned it long enough to know if it will break down on me.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've never dealt with the company, other than some emails that were answered very promptly. I haven't ever contacted one, but there are plenty of Ampeg service centers here (since I'm in St. Louis). It has a 5 year transferable warranty which I hope to never have to use.

Overall Rating : 10
Been playing 2 years, and I wanted to get pro gear early to save money in the long run and am very happy with this purchase. I would certainly replace it or buy Ampeg's preamp to use with a power amp if something happened to it. I love the tone and the features and the power and versatility of it. Compared with SWR and the SVT-Classic. The SWR didn't have enough, "oomph" and the Classic is great but HEAVY, not to mention expensive. I think Ampeg should include a footswitch and a speakon cable with it.

Defeatable 9 band parametric EQ. 3 band Graphic EQ including Bass, Treble, and a 2 control midrange (5 position frequency selector, and a level sweep). 2 seperate gain controls. Input Gain, and tube gain.
various pre-shaping buttons including "Bright, Ultra High, Ultra Low". Mute, which leaves only the tuner jack running, for silent tuning. I believe it has 2 12ax7 preamp tubes, and 3 12au7 driver tubes. I could be wrong there though. Mosfet power amp. 450 watts @ 4 ohms, 275 watts @ 8 ohms. Mine is a few years older, so It doesn't have the speakon jack that the newer ones have. It has a direct out (with a level control), effects loop, and pre amp in/ pre amp out jacks for using eaxernal preamps, or power amps. It has a tuner out, and a footswitch jack (but I got mine used and it didn't come with the footswitch). A pretty wide variety of options. I kinda wish it had a seperate channel, like a distortion channel, but oh well.

Sound Quality : 9
I use an Ibanez Ergodyne EBD 400(review in bass section), a Soundgear 305, and an old Fender Jazz bass. I run it through a home made cabinet with a 15. One can get a wide variety of tones out of this thing. Hell, just look at the list of people who use these things, and their different styles of music. Everything from metal, to jazz, to Primus (since there really isn't any other way to label their style, I just say their name). This being said, I think it suits my style since I like to dabble in most if everything. You can get a good ballsy rock sound, fairly smooth distortion. You aren't going to get that bowell loosening wall of pure overdrive, but it has some balls. You can also get a nice clean tone, that does good with melodic passages, and arpeggios and such. If I turn the master volume up past about 6, then this nasty hiss shows up. At 10 it can get pretty messy. But I got this used, and I have no idea what the guy before me did with it, and I paid a pretty good price for it, so I will deduct 1 point.

Reliability : 8
I have had it for about a year and a half. It hasn't given me any trouble yet. It depended on how much gigging I was doing. I feel it may need re tubed at some point, and since it us used, I may have it gone through to make sure there is nothing that may give me problems down the road. But it seems pretty damn solid. Built like a tank.

Customer Support : 10
I have had some questions, so I've E-Mailed them a few times. I had no manual whan I got it (have I mentioned that it's used?), so I asked if there was a way I could get one. It was in the evening when I wrote. I'm on the west coast, they are in St Louis. There was a response there for me in the morning. And I had a few technical questions once that I figured would take at least a day or two. But they were right on that shit. They responded in less than 2 hours.
And they seemed personable, and friendly too. I just happened to come back later, I don't spend all of my time here, so who knows how long. Could have been a half hour.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for about 8 years. I use a Digitech Whammy pedal, and a Boss Flanger. It sounds great. I use it by itself, and with a Marshall B65. I think it was a great value, and if it was stolen I would definately get another one. If you want to know what I would do to the guy if I found him, then read my bass review. I think that the only thing that I hate about it is that it makes the neighbors bitch about the noise. It is plenty loud. If there is ever a point where I need more power, then I will be able to afford it.
