For such a cheap amp, the features are pretty nice. The subharmonic is funky, but not particularly useful for most styles. Great EQ section, plenty of power. I think ours is a 2002 model. I love the DI right on the front. Makes it easy to get into the PA.

This amp is used with a lot of different basses, and a lot of different styles. It's the house amp at a musicians' cooperative, and it gets used hard, and all night long. It's loud enough to use without the PA for most bands/jams. The EQ section is great, and combined with the deep and bright switches and the subharmonic switch, the amp is very versatile. It's a 1 X15 though, so you don't get a lot of air movement with it, which means that it can't compete with a high-end 4 X10, but you don't pay that kind of price, either. We recently added an Eden 2 X 10 cab to it, and it runs the internal 15 plus the cab just fine. If you intend to do something like this, make sure you add an 8-ohm cab. Anything less than that will damage the amp, as the combined minimum resistance needs to be at least 4 ohms.

Reliability : 9
I have noticed the little burp noise on shut down that someone else mentioned before, but changing the cheap cables we had running to the PA seemed to fix it. Must have been a grounding or interference issue. Anyway, this amp is used hard a lot, and we've never had a problem with it. It does NOT move, however, so I can't say whether it will stand up to serious road use. It seems sturdy, has a great covering, and nice edges, so I'm guessing it would hold up well.

Sent them several e-mails to discuss adding a cabinet, and they always responded promptly and politely. I'll give them a nine because they were great to deal with, but keep in mind it was limited.

This amp was donated by one of the girls who frequents our venue. I don't play bass much, but many amazing bass players who play regularly at our venue speak very highly of it. The tone and the volume surprise everyone, for such a little and inexpensive amp. We've just upgraded to an EVOII 575 watt head, and I specifically picked Ashdown because we were so lucky with this little combo. Now I just have to find a 4 X 10 cab to go with it.

The amp has started to become a problem after two years. I think this is par for the course with bass amps, particulary when they are moved around a lot, as the internal electronics get shook by low frequencies. The speaker wiring has become a little suspect and I may need to get it checked out. Also the rear kettle lead plug socket has become a bit loose. Bear in mind that this amp has been severly gigged recently. I might replace it with a Mag head and cab combo.

Seriously good quality beginners amp, but it's reliability is in doubt now, from over gigging i think.

I've changed my sound when playing with it through constant fiddling. It sounds best with the bass, mid and treble up a bit and the upper and lower mid cut a bit. I now switch off the deep cos it tends to be a bit muddy but use bright to increase the clarity of the top end, great for rock and funk when slapped. When we play live, i set up the amp for my bassist and have found the deep makes the sound more penetrating live. It keeps up with my guitarist's half stack at fairly low volumes, hooray! Retains clarity but does a get a little muddy at higher volumes, though that's because i use bedroom eq settings! I use the treble pickup of my own bass with the tone rolled all the way back. my band's bassist uses a single p/up bass. I've found a compressor improves my own bass's crap sustain but playing an identical amp in a shop but using a fender jazz it totally growls. The subharmonizer plus the deep switch engaged creates an almost distorted tone, very fat!

My only concern is that after switching off, there's a short delay then the speaker literally 'burps' it lets off a loud flap, not sure why, but can't remember if it always did it.

still a ten, but i thought i'd better update my views on the amp, after nearly eight months! Still great!

Bought early 2002, was ordered by Wembley Guitar Centre straight from Ashdown factory, so it could have been made either late 2002 or early 2003. 150 watts. Too scared to put it at full volume, but it can also do very quiet. This amp has really powerful eq controls which means any sound can be dialled up easily. It's easier to set up sounds than using a graphic eq but still has lots of variation. I play mainly rock and have set up a basic rock sound but it could easily do funk, punk etc. As you'd expect from a bass amp, it only has one channel. You can add clip to the sound by increasing the input volume. It's got a five band eq but i only touch three of them. The deep switch gives a masive bottom end boost so i have that on also. The bright switch gives a treble bosst which i switch off. The eq can be bypassed with the push of a button. It gives a nice rounded tone, but I want more bottom end and less mid. It has an effects loop but I just plug it straight thru my zoom 506, though i suddenly have discovered i don't need many effects. there's also a tuner/line out but my pedal has a tuner. It has a proper xlr d.i output, so i might out it to my p.a one day but i only play at small volumes. The subharmonizer system lets you put in an extra octave below. The previous 130 watt model didn't have the subharmonizer or the extension speaker out which people moaned about. Ashdown only gave it a #10 price increase for the power boost and extra features and I got it extra cheap from Wembley guitar centre. It's very good VFM

I use it with a crappy peavey bass. I want to replace it with an ibanez when i can afford it, but it sounds good in this amp, though it can't do much about the sustain. I sing in a band, and my bassist will use this when we next practice. I play on the side, and wanted a real decent combo to jam with. The sound quality is undoubtable. It faintly hisses with big treble frequencies but is otherwise silent. It can do any sound you want and the subharmonizer fattens it up and would do great funk with an envelope filter. It could also serve metal bassists for extra growl. It works nicely detuned, as it can really handle the low frequencies unlike my old kustom. If you overload the input volume, it can clip, but only at high volumes, as it has loads of headroom. The led meter shows overdriving frequencies. I have yet to play this real loud but can't wait!

Reliability : 8
I've only had it for a day but it looks durable and is real light for a combo of it's size. The carpet covering is classy and looks like it could stand up to quite a bit of punishment. It also smells really nice! The metal grille is indestructible by all indications.

I haven't dealt with Ashdown, but they worked hard together with Wembley guitar centre to get the amp to me, so I'm satisfied.

Overall Rating : 10
This is quite an amp for it's price and I can't see anything to beat it at this price. It handles everything incredibly well and i'm looking foward to a great gigging career with this baby
