Features as above. Certainly generous for the price range, but not too complicated. The 5-band EQ is active and the bass/treble boost and octave function are quite dramatic.
Kudos for the vu-meter! It's fun to see that needle jumping around in time to the groove.

Using this amp with a yamaha TRB-4 active bass which I got at the same time as the amp. Seemed a highly suitable rig at the time, and I stand by that assessment. I've had it for two years now, and use the setup for recording, jamming and occasional light gigs. Styles ranging from classic rock through blues, country and acoustic.
I've never been in placed in a situation where I haven't been able to obtain the desired sound or sufficient onstage monitoring volume. (At times when things have gotten especially loud I've had to stand a bit closer to the amp, but the balanced line-out delivers a pretty good sound to the P.A. so no worries. It's also good enough for direct recording purposes though obviously a sensible dose of compression is recommended if you don't have a speaker, air molecules, microphone and mic preamp providing natural compression for you!
My own experience differs from the previous post - I haven't noticed any distortion in my case until the amp is cranked past 3 quarters (pre and post) with a fairly fat sound dialed in.
I also acknowledge that this amp is a 1x12 solid state so I'm not going to start with the whole "this amp is the best in the world" stuff. However, for its specifications this amp goes above and beyond the call of duty. And the sub-octave function is a lot of fun (can really add surprising amount of thump), though be aware that you're still playing through a 1x12.
The EQ is flexible and fairly quiet - only a little hiss creeps in if you turn up the hi-mid and treble, which is to be expected.
Overall this gets a very solid 8 to 8.5 - which is pretty much the maximum score I would give for any piece of equipment unless we're talking gear-of-the-gods stuff that costs more than my car.

The construction is extremely heavy-duty, with the exception of the fact that the control knobs can be pulled off their shafts without too much effort. They pop back on again OK and undamaged, but I'd rather they were a bit more inclined to stay put so I don't lose them.
However, the shafts themselves, you may be glad to hear, are steel, as are the input and output jacks. (Not something you find very often in this price range) Wiring is also precise and solid and there is generally no evidence of price-point construction or componentry anywhere to be found, and this is something that Ashdown are getting considerable praise for in the music press.

No Opinion
Had not a single hiccup in two years of use, so no contact. Website is OK though.

I am thoroughly one hundred per cent satisfied with this amplifier and will continue to use it as long as we both shall live. If I ever have justification to own a huge rig it will be an ashdown.

I am playing a loud Spector bass. I wanted something flexible and expandable. I play different styles. The sound is good at lower volumes and the needle seems to clip with the input up halfway. With the output up halfway as well, the internal speaker starts to distort. I plugged a 1x15 genx benz into it for extra bottom, and the internal was still a bit crunchy. It sounded like it might blow out the speaker.

I haven't gigged with it yet, but after one loud rehearsal, I'm a bit warry of that speaker. I had it for a month before using it at higher volumes and it seemed fairly reliable.

I giigged for a while with a 4x10 Ampeg cab and a GK 800rb. Obviously, this was much louder, but i got tired of the lugging around. The Mag head has superior tone, but I am considering replacing the internal speaker or getting different combinations of cabinets depending on venue size. This would be good for a small to medium venue. Just make sure you're not using it alone if you are playing with a loud band.
