Made in 2006, Solid State, 300 watts RMS with 4 x 10inch + tweeter and built in octaver. Just used for rehearsals and small gigs.

I'm using a Musicman Stingray that I bought after getting this amp. This amp has really sucked the life out of my Stingray. It really has only one sound which I'd imagine is good for a booming, passive rock tone. I could not dial in a decent growl tone at all which is the trade mark Stingray sound, not a good match of instrument and amp. To under line this, I used a bass pod and bypassed the preamp but I could not hear any differnce with the pod tones which are all very different when recording with it. I suspect the power amp gas a lot to do with the muddy sound, not very transparent!

Reliability : 10
Been reliable, no probs at all.

Never needed to.

I've been playing 14 years and would advise against this amp if you want to be able to vary your sound. A real one trick pony!

2006 Model
This amp is very versatile, everything from warm smooth sounding lows to
bright and punchy highs. I play in a cover band and it handles all the different styles i play.
Two input channels for passive and active basses. Effects loop, tuner output and a direct out DI which is post Eq.
This amp has a subharmonic switch which really doesn't add much and i never use.

Sound Quality : 9
I use an active Ibanex srx400 which really has a nice thunder on the low input channel. I also play a SX p bass copy and use the passive input.
I use PA support for the out front sound while gigging. So volume is not really an issue, however during practice this amp will distort at high volumes with the bass setting above 60% or so. I purchased a Peavey 2x15
and use that as an extension at practice. At higher volumes you will need an extension cabinet. Also this amp is pretty heavy and awkward to carry by yourself. I would recomend adding wheels asap.

Reliability : 9
I've had this amp 10 months so far and used it at 25 or so gigs and maybe 60 practices. It still sounds brand new. It has cheap push buttons for the extra Eq settings and one of them went flying across the room at a gig and i never found it. I don't have a backup and feel confident using this amp for all my needs.

It came with a one year warranty and American musical supply added two more years for free.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing bass for 10 months and guitar for 20 years.
I've it were stolen i would buy the mag300 and 4x10 cabinet seperate, to cut down on the weight.
I really love the sounds this amp produces you won't be dissapointed.
I bought it from AMS without ever playing it based on other reviews.
If your looking for a versatile warm sounding amp this is it.
