Basically a "bare bones" little combo that speaks with a BIG voice. I won't bother with all the details as they are easy covered elsewhere. This unit is weel built and HEAVY for it's size. Luckily the top handle feels secure and is located in the right spot to facilitate carrying with one hand. I use this unit for acoutic bass in an acoustic duo setting. Plenty of power for gigging in small to medium sized clubs. It is rated at 30 watts@8 ohm, but behaves as if it had much more power than stated. The 10" speaker is smooth and tight with no breakup, even when you push it.
I only give it an 8 due to two main features that are missing. There is no XLR out for use through PA. Also, when you plug an extension cabinet in it cuts out the internal speaker. I imagine these features were not added in an attenpt to keep the cost down.

Sound Quality : 10
I am mainly using this to amplify my Washburn AB 20 acoustic. It reproduces the acoustic qualities very well without added too much "coloration" to the basses tonal qualities. So far the unit does not appear to be prone to feedback which is a big plus when amplifying an acoustic bass. We run the guitars through the PA system and this little amp has nice dispersion that keeps up with the overall PA volume.

Reliability : No Opinion
Only had it a month so can't really comment on reliability but the construction appears to be right up there with the best of them.

No experience with Ashdown.

I am in my 40th year of playing bass. I own or have owned just about everything over that time period and have played many styles of music. These days it is mainly acoustic blues, pop, rock, etc....
I have tried my old P Bass through this and it holds together well without breakup. I would not use it for an electric gig though. Just not enough headroom to compete in that setting. But as I said for an acoustic/electric setting this amp is top notch! It sounds every bit as good as my SWR or GK rigs and is sooooo much easier to transport.
I just wish it had an XLR out and that the internal speaker wasn't incapacitated when you run an extension cabinet. But overall I can't complain. I really like this amplifier! And for the price it is exceptional!!!!!

This is a very simple practice amp with 30 watts power and one ten inch speeker. You have a gain control, vol, treble, middle and bass. There is also a line input, headphone out and 8ohm speaker extension output.

If I was being critical I would have wished for a tuner out and handles on the side so that you can carry it a chest height rather than picking it up from the top by the single handle, but that would be picky.

It has all you need for a practice amp

Sound Quality : 10
I have played through it with a Warwick Streamer Stage 2, a home made streamer/stingrey frankenstein with Seymore Duncan pick ups, a jazz, and a rather funky custom made fretless (maple, ovangkol, ash etc).
The sound is wonderful, to be honest I was sold in the shop as it just cut through the ambient noise yet sounded so tuneful. I cannot get a bad sound out of it and cannot wait to hook it up to an extension cab.

I actually prefer the sound of the perfect ten to my main rig which consists of an Ampeg BSP preamp, poweramp amd a 8x8 cab.. it just sits better and sounds right.
The tone controls are quite versatile for one so simple, we are not talkng massive range but the controls are sensitive and small adjustments pay dividends to the sound.

Not a lot to go wrong, feels very solid and looks great.

Also very comfortable to sit on and play, which we al know is very important!!

I have been playing a long time and have used many amps. I decided to get a practice amp for convenience and am very glad I chose this one.
I will buy another if this dies, it is so good, I would also like to try the Five Fifteen wich has more power and a 15 inch speaker (but they had run out)
To be honest I wish that it had a bit more power because it sounds so good you may be able to (just?) gig with it.
The price was so good because it bought it from PMT Birmingham along with an SVPCL (now that sounds GOOD!) and it was Christmas so the guys were feeling generous..good shop.

Straightforward controls, with a limited number of tone shaping options. Headphone jack is always a plus, can drive an external cabinet which may be useful. Pretty basic really, but what do you expect??

Sound Quality : 8
Surprisingly good sounding, considering the price and power ratings. The low B from my Warwick stage II stays tight at a fairly high level. I find it a little bit hissy for home recording, but this is a pretty minor complaint. Lots of headroom for a wee amp!!!

Only had it a few weeks. Looks pretty robust though...

No Idea..

Excellent build, best i've ever seen in a small-ish cheap bass amp. Nice styling, punchy sound that likes to be played loud. I think this amp represents a great deal at the price I paid for it.

This was a new amp when I bought it for about $150. It was a good deal and quite versitile even with a guitar. It's simple but more features would be sort of impractacle. The power and speaker are huge sounding for a small amp. I've owned SVT's and if I can deal with this for low volume gigs it's pretty good.

Sound Quality : 9
It has a good tone, especially with the beatle bass copy I use through it. lots of low end and a nice even attack.

Reliability : 9
Solid and quite deep, turns on and make bass sounds.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't dealt with the company.

Overall Rating : 8
I like it and it's portability is the key.

Made in 2004. Has 1 input, 3-band eq, bass boost, gain and master control, headphones output, external speaker output. 30W power amp and a 10" speaker protected by metal grill. It weigths 18kg (!!!), which is pretty much for such a small and quiet amp.
Some freak has put the on/off switch on the back of the amp. Reaching it is uncomfortable. Besides, switching the amp off doesn't disconnect the speaker, so you have to wait with unplugging your bass until a red led stops lighting, or you might hear an ugly "grhkhkrghkrhgkrhgkrh".
If I were the desinger of this amp, I'd definitely put the on/off switch near the instrument input, and I'd make it a kickback amp. I'd also add a CD-input.
Tonally not versatile - the eq is pretty useless, as well as the bass-boost (sounds too bad).
Its power suffices only home use. No way to use it even on a quiet rehearsal.

Sound Quality : 5
I mostly play an american Fender JazzBass. On this amp it sounds like a piece of crap - I get plenty of lows (that's good!), but the midrange and the highs sound terrible. No way to get a nice slap tone, nor a Jaco-like growl. No matter how far you turn the eq, such tones can't be hear here. Too bad... I believe the amp was meant to be quiet, but I expected it to sound ok. Now this sound sucks for me. Plugging it to a Hartke TP410 cab helped a lot, but who buys a practice combo as an amplifier for a 4x10 cabinet!
The good thing - guys who play a lot of rock and blues might like it, since it has plenty of lows and "slow" sound. I often play staccato and this amp doesn't work with this technique.

Reliability : 10
Oh yes, it is solid, reliable (so far) and quite comfortable to sit on.

Customer Support : 7
2 year warranty, friendly company. OK

Overall Rating : 5
Been playing for 6 years now. I also own a Hartke stack and several different basses. If the Perfect Ten was stolen, I'd rather get a SWR LA8 or even a guitar amp (Marshall MG15??) - less bottom, but nicer tone.
The Perfect Ten should be smaller, lighter and cheaper to make it a good deal. I'm not really satisfied with it.

This is a 1X10 30 watt practice amp, very simple, easy to use. I am in Iceland right now working on a TV series, and needed something to wile away the free hours. This is plenty nice for the job.

Sound Quality : 7
I had a Warwick 5-string Thumb with the thru-neck. A bit overkill for this amp, but shipping up here is a b**ch, so.... I mostly do blues, with some funk and jazz and of course rock 'n' roll. The amp is a bit mushy in its EQ, but it is a practice amp. Left flat, I do mostly dialing in with my Warwick and get get fairly fat (though the mushy of the amp makes me cut a lot of the bass out to refine the definition). It's fairly quiet, even when cranked, and does the job which is was meant to dol

Reliability : 9
Just got it, but it's used and seems plenty tankish, so it gets a good rating.

I've been playing for seven years, and have had top end amps, but this is for practice, and as such, it does a great job. If it were lost and stolen up here I'd be forced to get another one. If you need something to just wittle away on, do a little woodshedding, this makes a very nice sound and it's very practical.

I bought this 1x10 30W bass practice amp new in 2004. I needed a small bass amp so that I did'nt have to lug my old 70's Traynor valve stack around to rehearsals and small gigs for which the 30W output seems more than adequate. The amp has one channel with pre & post Eq gain settings. The Eq is quite basic with just Hi, Mid & lo control knobs but it does have a pre shaped Eq setting called "deep" which you can set with one push of a button. It also has an 8ohm extension speaker jack socket and an earphone socket. Using the extension speaker socket cuts out the internal speaker which is a shame because the potential combination of the internal 10" and, say an external 1x15 could give a nicely extended frequency response.

Sound Quality : 9
I use this amp with a 34" scale "Legra" custom built bass. It's equipped with two "kent Armstrong" Jazz Bass type pickups. I use the bass with a band doing contemporary covers and the amp works really well in this environment. I did back-to-back test this amp with a Peavey Minx 110, a Fender 20w practice amp and a very similar Laney before buying and the Ashdown was easily the best. I was impressed by the Peavey, they claim 35W & 50W with an extension cab, but the Ashdown has more usable power 'cos it's really clean flat out whereas the Peavey distorts at about 60% with only the internal speaker. The Ashdown also has twice the tonal range, it's quite amazing how well controlled the speaker cone is. When you push that 'Deep' button it's really deep, more like the sound you'd expect from a 15 or 18 inch speaker.

Reliability : No Opinion
I have'nt had it long enough to know if it's gonna be reliable. But Ashdown have a really good rep for reliability, that's another factor in the decision to buy

It's a great little amp and I am totally pleased with it. My friends in the band were well impressed with the sound too, but they still keep telling me to turn it down.
If it were lost or stolen I'd probably buy another, especially at this price.
