I have been playing bass over 30 years and was kinda afraid of the NEO speakers, not enough bottom. After two back operations the weight of this cabinet was enough to make me try it. DON'T be afraid this cab has more then enough bottom, great tone and handles my five string nicely. Am driving it with a Fender Pro 300 all tube amp and at a gig last Sat. had the gain control set on 3 and the channel vol. on about 2 and a half all night. Cab very well built and the Tolex looks great.

Sound Quality : 10
Used an American P-Bass and a Peavey Cirrus 5 string at a gig last week. Out standing tone, our lead guitar player stands to my right on stage and he just kept looking at me with a huge smile on his face. He told me after the first set not only could he hear me and it sounded good he could feel it as well. The crew at Avatar did their homework on this cab. The depth of the cab and the porting must me damn near perfect. The NEO speakers sound as good (maybe better) then anything I have had in the last 30 years.

Reliability : No Opinion
Can't say about this since I just got this cab. I see no reason why it should not hold up well since I don't have to drive it hard to get plenty of sound. Also as I said the can is well built.

Customer Support : 10
Talked to the folks at Avatar a couple of times before I ordered and they were most helpful and friendly. I have the feeling if there were a problem they would take care of their customers.

Overall Rating : 10
Have been playing over 30 years and if this cab were lost or stolen I would be on the phone in short order to get another. I like this cab cause it doesn't break my back moving it and it sounds great. The quality of the speakers and cabnet construction and also the cab design make it unreal to begin with. Throw in the quick shipping, careful packing, and More then fair price and this thing is a home run. Dave and the rest of his employees at Avatar have their act together. Don't be afraid to deal with Avatar, you won't be dissapointed.

Features four 10 inch Eminence speakers, Fostex horn w/attenuator, two quarter inch inputs, and a metal grill. I also paid $20 extra dollars for the Tolex since I play mostly in bars and it doesn't hold the cigarette smell like carpet. The Tolex comes in different colors. I spent $13 extra dollars at Home Depot and got casters for it. Its pretty basic like most cabinets. It has plastic corner protectors. I deducted a point for that, because a couple have already cracked a little bit after 3 gigs. Its no big deal, but metal corners would have been better.

Sound Quality : 10
I play a Carvin LB75 five string bass. I use the BBE BMAX solid state pre-amp into a Mackie 1400i power amp into the Avatar 4x10. This set up is amazing. The 4x10 cab is so smooth and clean sounding. I remember reading one of the other reviews before buying it and they were talking about how balanced the sound is. You really do get deep lows, punchy mids, and crisp highs. My bandmates really love how great it sounds. The sound of the whole band improved because everyone could finally hear the bass clearly. The bass with the BBE pre-amp just sits right in the mix so perfectly. That's with 2 distorted guitars. For most people I would think the cabinet would be all you would ever need for most bar gigs because it can handle 1000 watts. I currently push about 500 into and it doesn't even break a sweat. Its got the kind of bass that you feel without getting too rumbly. We currently play a song that rides on the low D and it is very distinguishable in the mix without getting muddy.

Reliability : No Opinion
I've only had this for a little over a month so I can't really comment on the reliability yet. No problems so far though. Knock on wood.

Customer Support : 10
I haven't had to use customer support for repairs, but I have a lot of confidence in this company based on other reviews and my own conversation with the owner Dave. He really does seem like a great guy that is willing to do what he can to stand behind his products.

Overall Rating : 10
I've played for about 20 years now and have played a few different rigs from Peavy to Carvin to Ampeg and now Avatar. I will have to say that I could not be more pleased with the tone of this cabinet. It does not color the sound and brings out the tone of your bass. If something happened to this cabinet there is no doubt that I would order another one. I compared a lot of cabinets before deciding on this one. Nothing else would handle this much power at such a good price. I got the 4 ohm model so that I could get the maximum power from my power amp. I'm only pushing about half of what it can handle and it really thumps. I would definitely recommend this cabinet to anyone looking for a 4x10 cabinet. I could not imagine anyone being disappointed with the sound coming from this cabinet. Great job Avatar!!!

Your basic 410 bass cab (8 ohm) with 4 10" speakers and a Foster horn tweeter BUT with some extras. The Eminence DeltaLites have 7 oz. neodymium magnets which equal 80 oz. conventional magnets in performance. That knocks about 18 lbs. off the weight of the cabinet. I couldn't find these on the Eminence website (they show BassLites which are a step down) for specs but did find them on others' sites. Some said 40Hz-3.5kHz and some said 60Hz-4kHz, but after hearing this cab, I suspect the 40Hz figure is it. Dave Noss (the Avatar man) has these speakers made for him by Eminence with a greater Xmax (the distance the cone travels) and a different dust cap. Speakers are rated 250 watts each for a total of 1,000. Another change over other 4x10's is the crossover which has both a high pass and low pass filter. Most cabs only block the lows from going to the tweeter to protect it; Dave's crossover keeps the highs away from the 10's for a smoother sound. The horn has a dial attenuator rather than just three position switch. This cab is VERY light, 65 lbs., because of the lightweight Neo magnets. I gave it a 9, though, for two reasons. I prefer the spring-loaded, flip-out type handles, but that is purely personal and not really a big deal. The bar handles are plenty comfortable. I really wish it had come with removable casters, although, that would add to the cost. I installed (you have to drill a 5/8" hole) Ernie Ball 2" pop-out casters ($20 for the set of 4) and that solved that problem. I don't use covers, but for those that do, I can see a problem since Avatar doesn't offer any. I believe there are venders that do, though. The construction seems solid with 3/4" birch plywood and carpeting (you can get Tolex in colors now for +$20). I was very pleased with the overall quality because I was a little skeptical since the price is so low: $389+$42 shipping - direct from Avatar. This is a great deal!

Sound Quality : 10
I've been thrilled with the sound. I've never had a 4x10 before. I used to use an SWR Goliath Jr. III 2x10 cab with an SWR Workingman's 1x15T (I replaced the speaker with an Eminence Legend CB15). The Avatar 410 is almost as deep as the 15 and sounds so good I don't bother taking the 1x15 anymore. I play a '75 Fender Precision and a Lakland Skyline 44-02, which has J and MM type pups, through a Mesa Walkabout head. My amp puts out 165 watts with the 8 ohm Avatar (300w at 4 ohms) and it's VERY loud if I need it. The amp is probably a little underpowered for bigger clubs, though, but this cab seems to work nicely with it. I prefer the tweeter on about 1/2.

Reliability : No Opinion
I've only had this a short time, but I haven't seen any problems yet.

Customer Support : 10
I'm giving a 10 here, although, I haven't needed actual customer support. I read their FAQ's, but I was concerned over buying a 4 or 8 ohm cab. I wanted the option of using this alone or sometimes with my 8 ohm 1x15, so I didn't want to buy a 4 ohm cab. I wasn't sure my 165 watts was enough. Dave, the owner, himself emailed back right away that the 8 ohm would be fine with my amp as long as I didn't crank the bass all the way and expect it to perform like a 1,000 watt amp. I called to place my order and not only spoke to a live person but to Dave himself who talk the time to chat for a few minutes. An interesting tidbit: they don't keep your credit card info on their computer. They write out the receipt by hand.

Overall Rating : 10
This is a super bass cab even for a much higher price. It sounds great, has some features even the big names don't have, is lightweight (my 50+ year old muscles don't want to carry heavy stuff), and is a true bargain. Even without casters I still have to give it a 10 overall. As Dave told me over the phone, they sell A LOT and don't get greedy on the price; that's their key to success. I talked our guitar player into buying a Twin Reverb over something else, so he couldn't understand why I was buying a discount, no-name box. That is, until he saw and HEARD it!

Brand new enclosure. All birch plywood construction. 8 Ohms. Loaded with 4 of Daves Custom Eminence "Special Design" Neo Drivers. Foster Compression Tweeter and a Brand New X-Over Design. Two 1/4" input jacks and one Speakon connector. Expanded steel grill featuring powder coat finish. Typical plastic stacking corners. Black carpet type covering. Large steel bar handles. Rubber feet on the bottom. Bottom front shelf type porting. Not quite as deep front to back as some of the other cabs out there, which I think adds some punch and makes it a bit easier to pick up. All in a 1000watt package weighing only 65Lbs. Carpet work could be a bit better. Cab is wrapped very well but seems to lack adhesive in some areas...And I only say that because I ran the carpet department at Genz-Benz back in '92/'93 ... So I know all about that. Still, I won't deduct points for this as it is a very minor fix as far as I'm concerned. Doesn't affect actual performance, Sooo ...

Sound Quality : 10
This weekend I played a Brice Douglas Jazz 5 loaded with EMG Active J-Pickups with passive Vol Vol Tone controls. D'Addario XL Strings. Also played my Self-Built "Vintage Style" P-Bass loaded with a Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder P-Bass Picckup, All Passive. Ernie Ball Slinkys .045 to .100.
Processing used: DBX 160A Compressor into a BBE 461 Sonic Maximizer into a Behringer B3000T Bass Head running at 8 Ohms.
Active or Passive, this Box Rocks. Incredibly smooth due to the new X-Over design. Most cabs use full range speakers with the horn/tweeter being crossed over. This one is crossed over like a P.A. cab with the speakers and the horn having an actual X-Over Point. It took me about half of the first night to dial everything in in a general way. A little tweak here and there. It then took me a little time to get used to how smooth this thing is, but by the end of that first night, I was really digging it. 5-Stringers Beware - This thing may just be the fix for your low-end needs. Those Neo Drivers in harmony with the enclosures tuning is a low-enders dream. It no longer sounds like my speakers are faking they're "B" String reproduction. This box is for real. I play Rock from the 70's all the way to some current material and the 410 NEO covered everything with conviction. From The Allman Brothers to Jethro Tull to Robin Trower...Gary Moore to Collective Soul...Satriani to Santana...This cab seemed to bring back the fun in playing bass for me. My guitarist and drummer both thought this cab is a great improvement and investment. My sound tech noted that it was much easier to dial in and eq my channel and also noted that it was easier to get the bass out front in the mix without as much stage wash from me. We credited that to the smoothness of the cab. I feel that this enclosure would suit juat about any bassist playing just about any style of music. The horn/tweeter is very sweet soundnig and not harsh or too brassy as some seem to be. I have never really been a big fan of the Foster Tweeters in bass cabs myself for those reasons. Also, I always seem to fry them quickly. This one is different and I will say it again that it has to be the new x-over. I had the L-Pad set right arount 11:00 and it was easily more than enough when I needed it, but again, Super-Smooth. I also noticed that I could actually turn my amp master down to around 10:00 (about 1/3) and get the same output as when I ran it straight up at 12:00 (50%). I can only imagine the power this thing would reproduce IF I were to peg it back up to 50%. And then imagine adding another and using two of these...My God!!!
Bottom Line - Buy One...You'll Love It...I know I Do!!!

Reliability : No Opinion
So far So Good...I expect it to kick some asss for a long time.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I'm sure it is excellent judging by other reviews I have read. Dave at Avatar really seems to faithfully back his product. I know he helped me with the questions I had over the phone when I called to order it...Very nice guy!

Overall Rating : 10
This enclosure could very well be the best kept secret in Bass Cabs...It is very affordable...It's Light (65Lbs)...Handles 1000watts...Offers great overall sound and punch without being overly loud if need be, or should I say it has a full rocked out sound EVEN at lower volume but could knock out some teeth if the situation was to arise...I said it once and I'll say it again...Bottom Line - Buy One...You'll Love It...I know I Do!!!

Fender P-Bass/ Jack Casady sig. Epiphone through an Ampeg SVT-III Pro. The cabinet absolutely knocked my socks off. I previously was using a Mesa 1X15, but I prefer this.

Reliability : No Opinion
Very solid construction. Seems to be MUCH better protected than most other cabs

Best ever sales experience for music equipment. Got solid advice from the company- they sized up my needs very well, and went far above and beyond normal expectations to get me what I needed. I got the cab 4 days later, and I've rocked it every day since !

Overall Rating : 10
I would purchase again; I may very well buy their 2X12 NEO in the near future.

Playing bass since the 60's and needed a clean lightweight alternative to my existing Ampeg 410HLF rig. Found Avatar and the cab has all the basic features you need - and a great price.
I took off 1 point since Avatar does not offer covers, or even a link to Tuki or other cover vendors - something they should do anyhow.

Sound Quality : 10
OK - this is the most important - right?
I admit I am jaded and a basic cynic when it comes to equipment - alot of it these days is hype. Not this cab.
The day it was delievered, I did a bake off against my Ampeg SVT410HLF cab - side by side, same riffs, same SVT3PRO head, same 5 string Lakland 5502 bass.
And the winner - Avatar! Much cleaner down low where it counts - matched the Ampeg volume but alot 'cleaner' and 'clear' - and at HALF of the weight! Gigging that weekend impressed my bandmates as well - they complimented my upgraded bass sound. This cab is for real.

Reliability : No Opinion
Only owned it for a couple weeks, so no idea on long term, but after a year of playing I will report back! Based on the solid construction, metal grille, solid handles, etc I see - there should be no problem.

Customer Support : 10
Owner Dave answers the phone and email very quickly with good information in a very friendly manner. The whole buying process was excellent.

Overall Rating : 10
Been playing bass since the 60's - every kind of rig, bass, band and style - so when a quality sounding cab comes along - I want to alert the bass community just what I found!
Avatar has designed custom Eminence drivers in a solid cab at a great price - and that is worth noting! But more than that - this cab sounds as good or better than the other so called high end cabs I have tried out - at a price that is very affordable to the average weekend gigging bassist. This makes it a great value and worth checking out.

It's your basic 4x10+horn cab with nice handles, metal grill, etc.
Not lacking any features, and not any frills either. Just right.
1 point off for not having an easy to find link to a cover - maybe Avatar should put some links on their website to find covers easily.

Sound Quality : 10
Been playing bass since the 60's - all kinds of music - lately mostly rock based - 5 string - owned all kinds of cabs over the years.
Using Ampeg last few years, but wanted an alternative to heavy cabs.
I will tell you I am jaded and basically a cynic - been burned before by big name claims - and mostly disappointed. So I approached checking this out no differently.

First day I got it - I did a bake off against my 410 SVT HLF cab, using same SVT3PRO head, side by side, fair and square all riffs and volume equal. I have to say the Avatar won hands down in being cleaner especially on the B string! Great sounding cab - I floored it to the max and no breakup or 'woofiness' that I got with my Ampeg cab.
Same volume, just better sound. And HALF the weight of my gut busting Ampeg cab.

Another great input is my band - I gigged with it twice last weekend and my entire band raved about how clean and 'better' the bass sounded on stage compared to the Ampeg - same head, just different cab! Yeah - this cab is no lightweight - it can rock as good or better than the so called big name stuff out there.

Finally - I hardly ever never write a review, but wanted to spread the word - these cabs are serious - great bang for the buck.
If you are considering Ampeg - then consider Avatar. This cab sounds great.

Reliability : No Opinion
It looks and feels well built, has good components, and is backed by a good bunch of guys, so only owing it a few weeks, I can only guess I will have no problem long term. After a year of real world gigging, I will report back!

Customer Support : 10
The owner Dave was great for quick reply to my questions, and it's nice to get a human picking up the phone and being able to talk shop.
He stepped me through all my questions and made 'direct buying without trying' much more comfortable. Good bunch of guys.

Overall Rating : 10
OK fellow low enders - like me, you probably plugged into the so called hi end boxes - Accugroove, SWR, Eden, Epiphani, Bergantino, etc, searching for the real *affordable* deal - since most of us don't get endorsements.
Unfortunately, Avatar is sold direct and you can't A-B it on the showroom floor, but fear not - this cab uses the same Emenence speakers tweaked for Avatar that the so called 'big names' use.
It tells me that we are all way overpaying for those big nameplates and their marketing budgets - and you can still find excellent sounding cabs for a great price in our bass world!

I bought my Avatar Neo 4x10 brand new in 2006 from Dave Avatar at Avatar Speakers.
This Cab is DEFINITELY versatile enough for what I play and MUCH more.... I play mostly rock and contemporary worship, but this thing would sound good with ANYTHING...

Sound Quality : 10
I play a Schecter Studio 5 five string with EMG-Hz soapbar pickups, and let me tell you, this bad boy handles that low B like a pro! I love it. Very low, and very clear, with no distortion at all..... gotta love the neodymiums..... it also handles the highs very well. ANYTHING from earth shaking lows, to ear shattering highs.... this cab can take it....

Reliability : 10
I would definitely gig without a backup.... Avatar did an EXCELLENT job constructing this.... very solid.

Customer Support : 10
the customer support at Avatar Speakers is spectacular.... I dealt with Dave personally, and he answered all of my questions within 24 hours. I've also heard lots of stories about how great the customer service is. In fact, I was browsing the Harmony Central Bass Forum and read a thread about an Avatar Customer that was having trouble with his 4x10 and Dave personally left a response instructing him on what to do in order to get it fixed.
The customer service is pretty much what sold me on this company.

Overall Rating : 10
i've been playing bass for a little over 6 years... i've only owned one other combo amp (fender bxr100) but I've played through several cabinets and this one is definitely near the top of the list. I'm actually trying out a carvin rig (4x10 and 1x18) and this 4x10 DESTROYS the carvin hands down. I'd say that this would even hold up to your higher end 4x10's costing 2x as much or more.

If it were lost or stolen (i'm not sure how you lose a 4x10 cab) i'd DEFINITELY buy another.... in fact, i plan on buying another 4x10 anyway to go with my new GBE600 that's in the mail... should make for a killer 8x10 rig.

Avatar DEFINITELY has my return business.
oh, buy the way... when i ordered this, i had it in less than a week.... they even beat samedaymusic.com!!!! and i ordered everything on the same day....

I Play an Ibanez SRX705NT, through an Ampeg B4-R and a BBE 482i sonic maximizer. They are all pluged into a Furman M-8. I tested many different cabs, and this is by far the best sounding overall. It is in my eyes equal or surpassing any Ampeg cab. The NEO 10's are crisp as hell yet I currently run this as a stand alone and have no problem with the low end. I am planning on buying another cab (15") but not out of necessity. The response is where I think this cab really shines. We play Metal, fast metal, and it hardly ever gets muddy. And when it does its usually cause of the bass pickups and/or strings.

Reliability : 10
I have had this cab about a year and a half. Have giged hard with it, and driven the piss out of the thing and it laughs in my face.

Customer Support : 10
I talked to Dave for about 20 min. on the phone when i bought this and he was nothing but helpful.

I have been playing for 7 years.
I would........will buy another avatar cab!!
All love no hate.
Price to quality, It dominates all. Mesa is the only other company I would even bat an eye at for a bass cab!!
I wish he would do a combo half fridge style cab with a 15" and four 10"s or a 12" and four 10"s I would be in heaven!!!!!!

New front ported model. I use this cabinet for blues and classic rock and it easily pounds through just by itself, no need for another add on box. The emence deltalites use 7 ounce magnets which have the strength of 80 ounce standrd magnets which makes them very light. At only 65 pounds i can transport this box around myself. Also has horn attenuator, 2 1/4" jacks and one nuetrik conector on the back. Crossover is excellent with very smooth sounding highs. Cabinet is constructed of birch plywood and is very well built. The only very small thing i can say negatively is that it uses wood screws rather than t-nuts on the speakers, but then again so do yorkville cabinets. Excellent construction.

Sound Quality : 10
Using a fender 62 replica fretless jazz bass playing blues and classic rock. This box will suit any style of music because it can do it all. Very low noise and extreemly efficient. This box is also rated at 1200 watts RMS. Has the biggest bottom end i have ever heard from a 410 and using it with another cabinet is just a waste of money, this one will do it all by itself. Huge bottom, good punch, clear tone and smooth highs....what else do you need?

Reliability : No Opinion
Haven't oned it long enough to give a fair answer but it does seem very well constructed and solid. And NO i dont need a backup.

Customer Support : 10
Ordered this box from Steamco canada and I found them to be very personable and helpfull. Haven't needed warrantee but from the manner in which i was treated i would assume they would be very helpfull.

Overall Rating : 10
Ive been playing since 68 and have use alot of amps and cabinets in this time so i can fairly rate this cabinet. So far it has been the best I have ever used and at alot less money than i paid for my others. I would definetly replace this with another one if i ever lost this one, nothing else even comes close and especially at this price. If you want one of the best sounding and constructed cabinets out there and dont feel the need to spend alot of money for someones name then do yourself a favor and get the best for the best price.
