Im using a epiphone Allen Woody bass and a Markbass Little Mark II head....the tone is the best Ive ever had...Super clear in all the ranges, lows to die for, mids that just wont stop, and highs that go on forever..These cabs are simply the best cabs out there, and I dont care if you spend 2, 3 or 4 times as much...I doubt your gonna get a better cab..

Made proudly in America: 2007 model covered in black Tolex , 4 Eminence Neo drivers that total to 1000 watts, 8 ohms, Fostex horn with a crossover control that is improved over my older Avatar cabs, metal grill front, recessed handles, high grade plywood used in construction, two ?? inch and one Speakon connection, plastic corner protectors that mesh perfectly with my Avatar 2X10 and 1X15 cabs. I use the cab in rock, pop, and country cover bands. The only thing I might like is impedance switching on the cab where you could flick a switch to go between 4 and 8 ohms. Relatively light and easy to move at 65 pounds or so. Casters are an add-on option.

Currently using a Hohner licensed version of an active four string 80s Steinberger bass with EMG humbuckers into a Gallien-Krueger 700RB II and the Avatar Neo 4X10 cab for 80s rock and pop music. I mostly go for a flat tone that sits in the center of the mix and is on the rounder side and the cab excels at that. The deep lows and low mids move a lot of air without any mud, but at the same time the highs are pleasant and present.
I normally keep the horn turned on at 20% or less, but on one tune I crank it for the slap action and it's really not that noisy (quieter than my older Avatar cabs). The cutting power and punch is more than I'm used to getting out of a single cab, but this is my first 4X10. Overall, this is a smooth sounding, responsive cab that handles the deep low end and will produce ear pleasing highs. This is perfect for a cover band where a lot of styles and types of music have to be reproduced.
The character of the cab when I first plugged into it was a little stiff but within 5 - 10 hours of play the tone started to mature. I didn't notice a volume boost like some reviewers did, but the tone has changed and has gotten better and smoother. I have yet to get the cab to give out on me even with aggressive low end grind or loud G string pops.

My 1X15 and 2X10 Avatar cabs have not been babied at all and have held up physically and sonically. They've been assaulted with smoke, dust, heat, and my playing and don't show any signs of giving out.
The first thing you'll notice when it arrives is the packaging. My brother is a packaging engineer and I saved the box and packing materials for him to look at and he couldn't believe the lengths they go to, to make sure their product arrives in pristine condition. No expense or effort is spared in getting it to you. Mine arrived in perfect condition. According to the other reviewers, if there is anything wrong, Avatar will dig deep to make it right.

Dave and his hard working employees should give advice to other companies on how to service customers since they not only have cab manufacturing down to a science but have also mastered the soft side of the business. Every inquiry I've ever sent has been replied to in a reasonable time and they actually hear you and respond to what you ask. Few companies do that anymore.

I've been playing guitar and bass in cover bands for 34 years and have an American Fender Jazz, G&L L2500 Tribute, a Yamaha BB415, and a Hohner Steinberger copy, all plugged into a GK 700RB II head, BBE Sonic Maximizer, and Furman power protection. I was actually looking at Eden and GK cabs when I bought this and I'm glad I went with Avatar, and not because they are half the cost, but because they are great cabs and a great company to do business with. The 8 ohm 4X10 is also a great match with either my Avatar 8 ohm 1X15 or 2X10. I would buy this cab again in a minute, but I do have to say that I wouldn't mind having a GK 4X10 cab to take advantage of the bi-amp feature in my GK head. It would be virtually impossible to go wrong with an Avatar cab, because even if you didn't want it, which is almost unthinkable, there would be plenty of people lined up to take it off your hands.

4-10" Eminence NEO Speakers do exactly what they should do -- hit the low B or even C without flaw while not neglecting the high G and C strings. Perfect sound quality on the whole scale.
Two 1/4" Input jacks and one Soundon jack make it an ideal basic bass cab.
I use this cab as part of my regular practice amp and it's never disappointed me to date. I can afford to haul this thing 30 miles out of town easily due to it's EXTREMELY light weight -- around 45 pounds!

I've played several basses through this cab with my Warwick ProFet 5.1 -- my Jackson C5A, Fender P-Bass, and Rogue 6-stringer (yeah yeah, I know) -- and I have to say, this is one of the most beautifully put together cabs I've played on as far as porting, construction, etc goes. I play in both a power metal band and a hard rock band, and it handles my 160-bpm 16th note picking perfectly, and accents every note without flaw.
It gives deserved glory to the rich deep settings on my head while not forgetting about the high-end sounds of the high D, G, and C strings. It flows through all of the notes like water.
Not many problems with any humming -- only on my 4-string, due to a wiring problem in the pickups.

Only had it for about a month, but I've played it at about 4 gigs and it lets my bass sound shine through the drums and guitar perfectly. Only time will tell, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it's one of the last cabs I'll ever need, unless I decide to expand upon it.
I ordered mine with the Black Tolex and I'll let you know it's extremely durable and capable of handling a few dings every now and then. After about a month of accidental pings, dings, and slips, it shows no blemishes at all.

Avatar's customer support (or rather Dave himself) called me the day after the order was placed to inform me that they don't accept Discover, and he was one of the kindest souls I've spoken to in my life. If someone can take time out of their schedule to call your about an issue in the ordering process rather than sending an e-mail and hoping you get it, that shows a genuine professional quality in their business.
Oh... and if you buy one and decide it's not for you, send it back within the trial period for a full refund (I believe within the first 30 days.) Great!

I've been playing electric bass for about 7 years now and I've gone through equipment like nobody's business without thinking twice about it. I must admit, however, that I will keep this cabinet until it kicks the bucket -- if it ever does.
If it were ever stolen, I'd give Avatar CS a call and let them know my situation and definitely be ordering another one -- or two.
I love this cab's versatility -- it's ability to handle the extreme lows when my head is halfway up and still overpower my bandmates' sound.

This cab was on ebay. I got it cheap due to a minor flaw in the tolex. It's red and 4ohms.
Two 1/4" inputs and only one Speakon connection(wish it had 2). Four 4ohm 250 watt Deltalite Eminences. Metal grill. Very solid construction. Only 65 lbs!!! A cab rated at 1000 watts with ceramic magnets would weigh in at around 120 lbs...

My Ampeg SVT 410hlf hardly compares to it. Both have 10" 4 ohm Eminences but the ones Eminence built for Avatar are supreme! You can literally hear the difference in the extra cone travel.
It goes all most as low, if not as low, and it's a little louder than the SVT. Much more punch!
I rum them together @ 2ohms with my Mesa Boogie Bass 400+ (500 watts all tube "brotha").
Ampeg SVT 410hlf: $699.99 110 lbs.
Avatar 410Neo: $366.02 65 lbs.
Go buy this cab! It's a steal! Now if they only made a 2000 watt 120lb. 8x10

I received my new B410 NEO, 8 ohm bass cabinet, about a month ago. As soon as it arrived, I did an A/B comparison, in my garage, for a couple of hours, with it & my old Ampeg BSE-410H cabinet, using my Ampeg B-2R amp & my Ric 4003 bass.
The Neo sounded good... punchy & tight but it had just a little less output & low end than the Ampeg cab. I figured that was the trade-off for having a MUCH lighter weight cab, which was my main objective in buying it. That was OK, because the B-2R has plenty of power for the gigs I play & I could just turn it up a bit more. I also thought that there might be some small change in efficiency as it broke in. I was pretty happy with it.
The following night, I took it to our regular Friday night house gig at a local bar. We were all pleased with its lighter weight, when we loaded & unloaded it. Everyone said it sounded "nice"... until about half-way through our third set... That's when she started to "open up".
Without changing any settings on the amp or bass, I started hearing these lower fundamentals & a fatter, richer tone emerging from it. I thought it might have been my imagination, until we took a break. That's when my bandmates asked me to quit turning my amp up so much. I told them that I hadn't but that I'd turn it down a bit, next set.
I turned it down repeatedly, during that last set, because it just got fatter & fatter. By this time, the bandmates were aware of what was happening & just kept turning to me & saying, "Oh my God! That thing sounds AMAZING."
Since then, I've been very pleased with the sound of it. Even with my little short-scale violin-bass copy, it has such a rich tone, it's incredible! A GREAT cabinet!

I use the Neo-410 with my Ampeg B2-R amp & an '85 Ric 4003, a Jay Turser Violin Bass & a Danelectro Longhorn Bass.
Also own: Ibanez EP-9 & 671-12 & Epi John Lennon acoustics; Ibanez 2681 (Weir), 2451nt (L6-S) & AR-100 & Epi Dot (335) electrics; Prophet 600 & Alesis QS6.2 keyboards; '53 Olds Parisienne tenor sax
If it were stolen or lost, I'd be on the phone with Dave IMMEDIATELY!
Best piece of gear I've EVER owned! (Yorkville PA cabs are close)
Best damned bass cabinet I've heard!
I have only one suggestion. Include a sheet in the box to WARN buyers that doesn't sound like it's going to. It's gonna change drastically, with driver break-in, after several hours of play & to listen for it to change & compensate their settings accordingly.

I just bought this used, but it is mint, and probably less than a year old, so I'd say 2006. As most of you know, it has 4-10" Eminence Neo 10" speakers, and a Foster tweeter, and is rated at 1000 watts. Mine is 8 ohms. Three inputs total- 2- 1/4" and one Speakon, and an attenuator for the hf horn on the back panel. Carpet covering on mine, and the best thing- it weighs about half what my old 4-10 SWR and Ampegs did!

I tried this with a 300 watt Behringer head at the sellers' home, and I though that the head was not giving the speakers enough power...it had some woofing. I was a little concerned, but figured it would sound much better with my Pearce. Well, thankfully, I was correct. This cabinet kicks hard with more power! I used it on a blues gig for the first time last night, in a large club in Truckee, Ca. I used my Pearce B2-p bi-amp head, but mono bridged to 8 ohms and 600 rms watts. I used my custom Edwards ultra wide 5 with EMG 40 dc 5 pickups and BQC eq system. I also used a Danelectro Longhorn bass. I normally use two cabinets in bigger rooms, a folded horn single 15, and a Mesa Powerhouse 12, bi-amped. I didn't miss the two cabs at all! I LOVE this Avatar cabinet! It is surprising, to say the least. I got a positive comment from each band member as to how tight and great the bass sounded. It has a character all its' own, as I am finding with these new neo speakers, I think they actually have a more musical sound for bass than speakers with the older bigger magnets. They don't have the low frequency rating of those other drivers, but it doesn't sound like that to me. Plenty of bottom, of which I use a lot of...and a pleasing mid quality- the 'neo sound' as I'm calling it. We played a bit loud, and I heard no audible distortion or woofing of any kind. Two of these cabs would probably sound incredible stacked.

I'm an older guy, playing now almost 40 years. I play upright, and electric. I have a lot of equipment, too much some say. I want to buy another one of these when the budget allows. If it's stolen, the exact cabinet is the only choice I'd make. I love the comparative lightness of this cabinet. It kills the SWR Goliath I had, and the Ampeg 'extended low frequency' 4-10 I had as well. It is such a good deal for the money....why would any bassist reading this buy a nearly 100 pound 4-10 Ampeg, Eden, SWR or other 'name cabinet, that is twice the price, twice the weight, and doesn't sound as good? Have one shipped, and try it....they have a trial period!

This is one nice bass cabinet. It???s rated to 1000 watts as described on Avatar???s website. However, an improvement would be a ???Variable Impedance??? feature ??? a plug-in adapter or switch that allows you to select 8 or 4 ohms. That would be very cool as long as you don???t use it incorrectly and blow up your bass head.

I play in a rock cover band and the Neo 410 handles it easily. The tone sounds deep with a variety of 4 and 5 string basses through a GK head pumping out 460 watts at 8 ohms. I had GK 15 and 410 cabs but traded them in. I don???t need them now. I also own the Avatar 212 and 210 Neo cabinets. The 410 feels lighter than the 212. The specs say the 212 is 56 lbs and the 410 is 65 lbs but I swear the 410 is lighter. If you???re thinking about the Avatar 212 consider spending a little more for the 410. This Neo 410 is ideal for bar bands. It???s a powerhouse. If I could only own one bass cab this would be it. My advice - BUY IT!

This bad boy cabinet is light, loud, deeply smooth sounding, and reasonably priced. I regret the day I went to Guitar Center and bought the inferior crap they were pushing at the time. Save time, money, and a wasted trip. Buy Avatar and apply the savings toward a quality bass head. I feel like I got a Lexus for the price of a Toyota. This is a very solid value for the price.

Tweeter level control.
Speakon connector. (Bonus points for this one...quarter-inch sucks for power amps.)
Weighs 65 pounds. (This sounds like a lot but is nothing for a cab this size. Very easy to load in and out. Deserves a top rating for this alone.)
Metal grill doesn't get torn or block the sound.
Rectangular bass ports don't chuff or whistle.

Most 4x10s sound very cold and "hi-fi" and are really made for slap monkeys. The Avatar has a warmer, smoother sound to it that is much more useful for rock and roll, though it's not as warm or loose as 15s. However, there is plenty of low end all the way down to the low B on a 5-string. It's a very flat and uncolored sound, and if you have a graphic EQ you can tweak it almost any way you want.
I think the amazingly flat low end comes at the expense of a little bit of efficiency: it's not as loud for the wattage as many other cabs I've tried. (This is true of many 4x10 cabinets.) I wouldn't call it quiet, and unless you're competing with ridiculous guitar stacks you'll be fine, but you definitely get more moving air out of the average 2x15.
The key word is "versatility". It lets you shape your own sound instead of enforcing one on you. I was able to dial it in with my amp head very quickly.

Big ups to Avatar for making solid, good-sounding gear that real musicians can afford. The direct Internet model works...you're not paying for endorsements or dealer markup, just a bass cabinet that looks and sounds like it costs about twice what it does.

Here is where this thing really shines. The tone that comes out is really something to be appreciated. I used a Bergantino 322 for almost a year, and traded it for an Accugroove El Wappo Jr.This Avatar smokes then both. It's not even close. I like to call it vintage warmth, with hi-fi clarity. The low end it big,bit tight, not too boomy at all.And clear as a bell.Test basses were my trusty custom Kubicki Ex-Factor,a Tobias Killer B 6,and a custom Matt Pulcinella 5 string.Amp was a Pearce BC-1 preamp into a Stewart 2.1 poweramp. I have been playing bass over 30 years and was kinda afraid of the NEO speakers, not enough bottom. After two back operations the weight of this cabinet was enough to make me try it. DON'T be afraid this cab has more then enough bottom, great tone and handles my five string nicely. Am driving it with a Fender Pro 300 all tube amp and at a gig last Sat. had the gain control set on 3 and the channel vol. on about 2 and a half all night. Cab very well built and the Tolex looks great.

Used an American P-Bass and a Peavey Cirrus 5 string at a gig last week. Out standing tone, our lead guitar player stands to my right on stage and he just kept looking at me with a huge smile on his face. He told me after the first set not only could he hear me and it sounded good he could feel it as well. The crew at Avatar did their homework on this cab. The depth of the cab and the porting must me damn near perfect. The NEO speakers sound as good (maybe better) then anything I have had in the last 30 years.

Features four 10 inch Eminence speakers, Fostex horn w/attenuator, two quarter inch inputs, and a metal grill. I also paid $20 extra dollars for the Tolex since I play mostly in bars and it doesn't hold the cigarette smell like carpet. The Tolex comes in different colors. I spent $13 extra dollars at Home Depot and got casters for it. Its pretty basic like most cabinets. It has plastic corner protectors. I deducted a point for that, because a couple have already cracked a little bit after 3 gigs. Its no big deal, but metal corners would have been better.

I play a Carvin LB75 five string bass. I use the BBE BMAX solid state pre-amp into a Mackie 1400i power amp into the Avatar 4x10. This set up is amazing. The 4x10 cab is so smooth and clean sounding. I remember reading one of the other reviews before buying it and they were talking about how balanced the sound is. You really do get deep lows, punchy mids, and crisp highs. My bandmates really love how great it sounds. The sound of the whole band improved because everyone could finally hear the bass clearly. The bass with the BBE pre-amp just sits right in the mix so perfectly. That's with 2 distorted guitars. For most people I would think the cabinet would be all you would ever need for most bar gigs because it can handle 1000 watts. I currently push about 500 into and it doesn't even break a sweat. Its got the kind of bass that you feel without getting too rumbly. We currently play a song that rides on the low D and it is very distinguishable in the mix without getting muddy.

I've played for about 20 years now and have played a few different rigs from Peavy to Carvin to Ampeg and now Avatar. I will have to say that I could not be more pleased with the tone of this cabinet. It does not color the sound and brings out the tone of your bass. If something happened to this cabinet there is no doubt that I would order another one. I compared a lot of cabinets before deciding on this one. Nothing else would handle this much power at such a good price. I got the 4 ohm model so that I could get the maximum power from my power amp. I'm only pushing about half of what it can handle and it really thumps. I would definitely recommend this cabinet to anyone looking for a 4x10 cabinet. I could not imagine anyone being disappointed with the sound coming from this cabinet. Great job Avatar!!!

Your basic 410 bass cab (8 ohm) with 4 10" speakers and a Foster horn tweeter BUT with some extras. The Eminence DeltaLites have 7 oz. neodymium magnets which equal 80 oz. conventional magnets in performance. That knocks about 18 lbs. off the weight of the cabinet. I couldn't find these on the Eminence website (they show BassLites which are a step down) for specs but did find them on others' sites. Some said 40Hz-3.5kHz and some said 60Hz-4kHz, but after hearing this cab, I suspect the 40Hz figure is it. Dave Noss (the Avatar man) has these speakers made for him by Eminence with a greater Xmax (the distance the cone travels) and a different dust cap. Speakers are rated 250 watts each for a total of 1,000. Another change over other 4x10's is the crossover which has both a high pass and low pass filter. Most cabs only block the lows from going to the tweeter to protect it; Dave's crossover keeps the highs away from the 10's for a smoother sound. The horn has a dial attenuator rather than just three position switch. This cab is VERY light, 65 lbs., because of the lightweight Neo magnets. I gave it a 9, though, for two reasons. I prefer the spring-loaded, flip-out type handles, but that is purely personal and not really a big deal. The bar handles are plenty comfortable. I really wish it had come with removable casters, although, that would add to the cost. I installed (you have to drill a 5/8" hole) Ernie Ball 2" pop-out casters ($20 for the set of 4) and that solved that problem. I don't use covers, but for those that do, I can see a problem since Avatar doesn't offer any. I believe there are venders that do, though. The construction seems solid with 3/4" birch plywood and carpeting (you can get Tolex in colors now for +$20). I was very pleased with the overall quality because I was a little skeptical since the price is so low: $389+$42 shipping - direct from Avatar. This is a great deal!

I've been thrilled with the sound. I've never had a 4x10 before. I used to use an SWR Goliath Jr. III 2x10 cab with an SWR Workingman's 1x15T (I replaced the speaker with an Eminence Legend CB15). The Avatar 410 is almost as deep as the 15 and sounds so good I don't bother taking the 1x15 anymore. I play a '75 Fender Precision and a Lakland Skyline 44-02, which has J and MM type pups, through a Mesa Walkabout head. My amp puts out 165 watts with the 8 ohm Avatar (300w at 4 ohms) and it's VERY loud if I need it. The amp is probably a little underpowered for bigger clubs, though, but this cab seems to work nicely with it. I prefer the tweeter on about 1/2.

I'm giving a 10 here, although, I haven't needed actual customer support. I read their FAQ's, but I was concerned over buying a 4 or 8 ohm cab. I wanted the option of using this alone or sometimes with my 8 ohm 1x15, so I didn't want to buy a 4 ohm cab. I wasn't sure my 165 watts was enough. Dave, the owner, himself emailed back right away that the 8 ohm would be fine with my amp as long as I didn't crank the bass all the way and expect it to perform like a 1,000 watt amp. I called to place my order and not only spoke to a live person but to Dave himself who talk the time to chat for a few minutes. An interesting tidbit: they don't keep your credit card info on their computer. They write out the receipt by hand.

This is a super bass cab even for a much higher price. It sounds great, has some features even the big names don't have, is lightweight (my 50+ year old muscles don't want to carry heavy stuff), and is a true bargain. Even without casters I still have to give it a 10 overall. As Dave told me over the phone, they sell A LOT and don't get greedy on the price; that's their key to success. I talked our guitar player into buying a Twin Reverb over something else, so he couldn't understand why I was buying a discount, no-name box. That is, until he saw and HEARD it!

Brand new enclosure. All birch plywood construction. 8 Ohms. Loaded with 4 of Daves Custom Eminence "Special Design" Neo Drivers. Foster Compression Tweeter and a Brand New X-Over Design. Two 1/4" input jacks and one Speakon connector. Expanded steel grill featuring powder coat finish. Typical plastic stacking corners. Black carpet type covering. Large steel bar handles. Rubber feet on the bottom. Bottom front shelf type porting. Not quite as deep front to back as some of the other cabs out there, which I think adds some punch and makes it a bit easier to pick up. All in a 1000watt package weighing only 65Lbs. Carpet work could be a bit better. Cab is wrapped very well but seems to lack adhesive in some areas...And I only say that because I ran the carpet department at Genz-Benz back in '92/'93 ... So I know all about that. Still, I won't deduct points for this as it is a very minor fix as far as I'm concerned. Doesn't affect actual performance, Sooo ...

This weekend I played a Brice Douglas Jazz 5 loaded with EMG Active J-Pickups with passive Vol Vol Tone controls. D'Addario XL Strings. Also played my Self-Built "Vintage Style" P-Bass loaded with a Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder P-Bass Picckup, All Passive. Ernie Ball Slinkys .045 to .100.
Processing used: DBX 160A Compressor into a BBE 461 Sonic Maximizer into a Behringer B3000T Bass Head running at 8 Ohms.
Active or Passive, this Box Rocks. Incredibly smooth due to the new X-Over design. Most cabs use full range speakers with the horn/tweeter being crossed over. This one is crossed over like a P.A. cab with the speakers and the horn having an actual X-Over Point. It took me about half of the first night to dial everything in in a general way. A little tweak here and there. It then took me a little time to get used to how smooth this thing is, but by the end of that first night, I was really digging it. 5-Stringers Beware - This thing may just be the fix for your low-end needs. Those Neo Drivers in harmony with the enclosures tuning is a low-enders dream. It no longer sounds like my speakers are faking they're "B" String reproduction. This box is for real. I play Rock from the 70's all the way to some current material and the 410 NEO covered everything with conviction. From The Allman Brothers to Jethro Tull to Robin Trower...Gary Moore to Collective Soul...Satriani to Santana...This cab seemed to bring back the fun in playing bass for me. My guitarist and drummer both thought this cab is a great improvement and investment. My sound tech noted that it was much easier to dial in and eq my channel and also noted that it was easier to get the bass out front in the mix without as much stage wash from me. We credited that to the smoothness of the cab. I feel that this enclosure would suit juat about any bassist playing just about any style of music. The horn/tweeter is very sweet soundnig and not harsh or too brassy as some seem to be. I have never really been a big fan of the Foster Tweeters in bass cabs myself for those reasons. Also, I always seem to fry them quickly. This one is different and I will say it again that it has to be the new x-over. I had the L-Pad set right arount 11:00 and it was easily more than enough when I needed it, but again, Super-Smooth. I also noticed that I could actually turn my amp master down to around 10:00 (about 1/3) and get the same output as when I ran it straight up at 12:00 (50%). I can only imagine the power this thing would reproduce IF I were to peg it back up to 50%. And then imagine adding another and using two of these...My God!!!
Bottom Line - Buy One...You'll Love It...I know I Do!!!

Playing bass since the 60's and needed a clean lightweight alternative to my existing Ampeg 410HLF rig. Found Avatar and the cab has all the basic features you need - and a great price.
I took off 1 point since Avatar does not offer covers, or even a link to Tuki or other cover vendors - something they should do anyhow.

OK - this is the most important - right?
I admit I am jaded and a basic cynic when it comes to equipment - alot of it these days is hype. Not this cab.
The day it was delievered, I did a bake off against my Ampeg SVT410HLF cab - side by side, same riffs, same SVT3PRO head, same 5 string Lakland 5502 bass.
And the winner - Avatar! Much cleaner down low where it counts - matched the Ampeg volume but alot 'cleaner' and 'clear' - and at HALF of the weight! Gigging that weekend impressed my bandmates as well - they complimented my upgraded bass sound. This cab is for real.

Been playing bass since the 60's - every kind of rig, bass, band and style - so when a quality sounding cab comes along - I want to alert the bass community just what I found!
Avatar has designed custom Eminence drivers in a solid cab at a great price - and that is worth noting! But more than that - this cab sounds as good or better than the other so called high end cabs I have tried out - at a price that is very affordable to the average weekend gigging bassist. This makes it a great value and worth checking out.

It's your basic 4x10+horn cab with nice handles, metal grill, etc.
Not lacking any features, and not any frills either. Just right.
1 point off for not having an easy to find link to a cover - maybe Avatar should put some links on their website to find covers easily.

Been playing bass since the 60's - all kinds of music - lately mostly rock based - 5 string - owned all kinds of cabs over the years.
Using Ampeg last few years, but wanted an alternative to heavy cabs.
I will tell you I am jaded and basically a cynic - been burned before by big name claims - and mostly disappointed. So I approached checking this out no differently.
First day I got it - I did a bake off against my 410 SVT HLF cab, using same SVT3PRO head, side by side, fair and square all riffs and volume equal. I have to say the Avatar won hands down in being cleaner especially on the B string! Great sounding cab - I floored it to the max and no breakup or 'woofiness' that I got with my Ampeg cab.
Same volume, just better sound. And HALF the weight of my gut busting Ampeg cab.
Another great input is my band - I gigged with it twice last weekend and my entire band raved about how clean and 'better' the bass sounded on stage compared to the Ampeg - same head, just different cab! Yeah - this cab is no lightweight - it can rock as good or better than the so called big name stuff out there.
Finally - I hardly ever never write a review, but wanted to spread the word - these cabs are serious - great bang for the buck.
If you are considering Ampeg - then consider Avatar. This cab sounds great.

OK fellow low enders - like me, you probably plugged into the so called hi end boxes - Accugroove, SWR, Eden, Epiphani, Bergantino, etc, searching for the real *affordable* deal - since most of us don't get endorsements.
Unfortunately, Avatar is sold direct and you can't A-B it on the showroom floor, but fear not - this cab uses the same Emenence speakers tweaked for Avatar that the so called 'big names' use.
It tells me that we are all way overpaying for those big nameplates and their marketing budgets - and you can still find excellent sounding cabs for a great price in our bass world!

the customer support at Avatar Speakers is spectacular.... I dealt with Dave personally, and he answered all of my questions within 24 hours. I've also heard lots of stories about how great the customer service is. In fact, I was browsing the Harmony Central Bass Forum and read a thread about an Avatar Customer that was having trouble with his 4x10 and Dave personally left a response instructing him on what to do in order to get it fixed.
The customer service is pretty much what sold me on this company.

i've been playing bass for a little over 6 years... i've only owned one other combo amp (fender bxr100) but I've played through several cabinets and this one is definitely near the top of the list. I'm actually trying out a carvin rig (4x10 and 1x18) and this 4x10 DESTROYS the carvin hands down. I'd say that this would even hold up to your higher end 4x10's costing 2x as much or more.
If it were lost or stolen (i'm not sure how you lose a 4x10 cab) i'd DEFINITELY buy another.... in fact, i plan on buying another 4x10 anyway to go with my new GBE600 that's in the mail... should make for a killer 8x10 rig.
Avatar DEFINITELY has my return business.

I Play an Ibanez SRX705NT, through an Ampeg B4-R and a BBE 482i sonic maximizer. They are all pluged into a Furman M-8. I tested many different cabs, and this is by far the best sounding overall. It is in my eyes equal or surpassing any Ampeg cab. The NEO 10's are crisp as hell yet I currently run this as a stand alone and have no problem with the low end. I am planning on buying another cab (15") but not out of necessity. The response is where I think this cab really shines. We play Metal, fast metal, and it hardly ever gets muddy. And when it does its usually cause of the bass pickups and/or strings.

New front ported model. I use this cabinet for blues and classic rock and it easily pounds through just by itself, no need for another add on box. The emence deltalites use 7 ounce magnets which have the strength of 80 ounce standrd magnets which makes them very light. At only 65 pounds i can transport this box around myself. Also has horn attenuator, 2 1/4" jacks and one nuetrik conector on the back. Crossover is excellent with very smooth sounding highs. Cabinet is constructed of birch plywood and is very well built. The only very small thing i can say negatively is that it uses wood screws rather than t-nuts on the speakers, but then again so do yorkville cabinets. Excellent construction.

Using a fender 62 replica fretless jazz bass playing blues and classic rock. This box will suit any style of music because it can do it all. Very low noise and extreemly efficient. This box is also rated at 1200 watts RMS. Has the biggest bottom end i have ever heard from a 410 and using it with another cabinet is just a waste of money, this one will do it all by itself. Huge bottom, good punch, clear tone and smooth highs....what else do you need?

The new front ported B410 Neodymium features four custom AMERICAN made Eminence Deltalite ten inch bass speakers and a Foster Horn Tweeter. These custom designed Eminence Neodymium tens are made just for Avatar and have a Neodymium magnet for weight reduction, extended cone travel (Xmax) for improved low end and a lightweight die cast aluminum basket for extra rigidity. Each Delta ten is rated at 300 watts RMS so the cab is rated at 1200 watts RMS total. The cab is made from superior 3/4 inch voidless Baltic Birch PLYWOOD with rabbet and dado interlocking sidejoints for extreme strength. The Foster high frequency compression horn tweeter is THE most popular tweeter used by some of the best companies in the business. The tweeter is filtered with a smooth sounding 6dB per octave slope mylar capacitor crossover and has an adjustable tweeter volume control on the back input panel. The cabinet is covered in black carpet, has protective corners, large recessed steel bar handles, full face steel diamond pattern expanded metal grill, front slot port, steel input panel with one Speakon connector and dual 1/4 inch in/out jacks. All three jacks on the back panel are wired together in parallel so you can go in or out of any of them for maximum flexibility when connecting this cab to amps or to other speaker cabs. My cab is the 4 ohm version but an 8 ohm version is available. It weighs 65lbs and has 27H x 25W x 16.5D dimensions.
The cabinet has pretty much everything you could ask for. The weight of the neos allowed me to be able to carry it our around myself ( A huge benefit!!!!!!!!!) Also, the power rating is fair, I've put around 1000 watts into this thing and it handled all I could give it.

This is where is this cabinet gets fun. I was looking for a cabinet that I could use a road warrior, something to take some abuse, and so I did not want to drop a ton of cash. Low and behold this has become my one of my favorite sounding cabinets that I've ever owned (it's very close to sounding as good as my epifani NYC 410 but that thing is 4x the cost and 30 lbs heavier). The warm, responsive low end rumbles with clarity while you get as much hifi sounds as you want with the horn attenuater control on the cab. The neo speakers not only are lighter than the deltas made by eminence but they sound way better.

So far I've had no problems. This is my second cabinet from Avatar and I've used and abused both without anything to worry about.

The warranty for the cab is 1 year. I must say though that it is reassuring dealing with Avatar for the simple reason that you speak to and order from Dave the owner. He has gotten great compliments before and I will extend that streak. Dave is the man.

I've been playing almost 11 years now, 6 professionally. Most of the time I run a eden wt550 head in front of it with either a modulus jazz bass or a warwick corvette. Without considering cost this cabinet is near the top of my list for favorites, when you consider cost, it blows everything out of the competition. I'd replace it in a heartbeat.

I play mainly Rock, with a custom B.Bo 4-string, and Peavey G-Bass. I am currently using an Eden WT400 Bass head, and it sounds great. I have also used it with a GK-1001, and a Ashdown Mag-300, and it also sounded very good. It is tight, focused, with great punch, and good low end. It also is very efficient, requiring very little power to drive. The Foster horn can get hissy if adjusted above 1/2, so I run it about 1/4.

I have owned it for three months with no problems. It feels very solid, and has quality components. I have also owned five other Avatar Bass cabinets, and have had no problems.

I have been playing Bass since the mid 60's, and have also owned an Acme B-2, Eden D410XLT, and SWR Goliath II 4x10" Bass cabinets. With the exception of the Eden D410XLT (which sounded great, but was too heavy for me, 98 lbs), I prefer the sound of the Avatar cabinet overall, and it is half the price! I have owned five other Avatar Bass cabinets (B210 Delta, B115, B115H, and B212), and have been very happy with all of them. I also own an older Avatar CB115 cabinet that I use with my SWR Workingman's 10 amp, and it adds great low end. I replaced an Avatar B212 with the B410 NEO cabinet, because I wanted more punch, which it delivers, and it is 10 lbs lighter! Avatar cabinets are the most efficient cabinets I have ever played through. |
